Choosing between Yuma, Mesa and Palm Springs for a golf winter comes down to cost, clock and crowds. Yuma is the one we have priced in detail: posted winter green fees from $20 to $75, course passes from $580 a season, and monthly RV sites from about $605. Mesa shares Yuma's Arizona clock and flies through Phoenix. Palm Springs runs on Pacific time and has its own Canadian nonstops.
One honest caveat up front: this site maps Yuma, not Mesa or Palm Springs, so their green fees, rents and weather normals are not in our data and are not quoted here. What follows gives you Yuma's real numbers as a benchmark, the travel facts for all three, and a checklist for pricing the other two. Prices were seen in October 2026 and change; 2027 peak rates are not posted at several Yuma courses.
Quick facts

Getting there: flights and the drive
For Canadians, Phoenix is the stronger airport. On the dates Google Flights showed in October 2026:
| From | To Phoenix (lowest round trip seen) | To Palm Springs (lowest round trip seen) |
|---|---|---|
| Calgary | CA$241 | CA$488 |
| Edmonton | CA$248 | CA$401 |
| Vancouver | CA$211 | CA$266 |
| Saskatoon | CA$403 | No nonstop |
| Toronto | CA$424 (daily) | CA$660 (Fri and Sun only) |
Those fares are snapshots for specific January 2027 dates and will move. If you choose Yuma, you land at one of these airports and drive about three hours; the full comparison is in flights to Yuma for golf. Drivers from Calgary face about 23 hours and 26 minutes to Yuma on Google's fastest route.
The clock, and why it matters more in 2026
Yuma and Mesa never change their clocks. Palm Springs does, so from November 1, 2026 to March 14, 2027 it is one hour behind Arizona.
The 2026 Canadian changes widen the gap for some snowbirds. Alberta now stays on UTC-6 all year and British Columbia on UTC-7. In winter that puts:
| Home | vs Yuma or Mesa | vs Palm Springs |
|---|---|---|
| Calgary, Edmonton | 1 hour ahead | 2 hours ahead |
| Saskatoon | 1 hour ahead | 2 hours ahead |
| Vancouver | Same | 1 hour ahead |
If you call home or work remotely, that is a real difference between the three.

Weather
Yuma's NOAA normals (Yuma airfield, 1991-2020) for the core winter:
| Month | High | Low | Rain |
|---|---|---|---|
| December | 67.8F | 46.8F | 0.43 in |
| January | 69.8F | 47.9F | 0.39 in |
| February | 73.4F | 50.4F | 0.38 in |
| March | 80.2F | 55.0F | 0.39 in |
Annual rain is about 3.3 inches. Mesa and Palm Springs normals are not in our data, so pull NOAA's 1991-2020 normals for their stations to compare the same way.
Tee-time pressure
Tee-time pressure is the hardest part of the comparison to measure. In Yuma, the winter visitor is the main factor. The ASU Yuma Winter Visitor Study for 2017-18 estimated about 71,000 winter visitors staying 30 days or longer between December and May; local estimates run higher. January to March are the busiest months, and morning times go first.
Public booking windows are short: Las Barrancas 7 days, Desert Hills 8 days, Mesa del Sol and Coyote Wash about 14 days online (the Wellton brochure says 7 days by phone or GolfNow for Coyote Wash). League mornings fill much of the winter sheet at several courses from October to April. Wellton's Coyote Wash, about 40 minutes east of downtown Yuma (about 25 from the Foothills), is a backup when the Yuma and Foothills courses are crowded in February and March. A rotation that works around league mornings is laid out in the snowbird golf schedule for Yuma, and the Desert Hills course guide covers the city course's rules.
Lifestyle
Yuma is a winter-visitor town built around 55+ RV resorts, leagues and value golf, with the Andrade crossing to Los Algodones about 12 minutes from town for dental and pharmacy visits. Its airport is small and shares runways with MCAS Yuma, so military jet noise is part of life. See Yuma winter golf and Canadian snowbirds in Yuma.
Mesa is in the Phoenix area, where the Cactus League plays spring training; Yuma lost its spring training when the Padres moved to Peoria for 1994.
Palm Springs sits under three hours from Yuma, so a Yuma winter can include a Palm Springs road trip, and vice versa.
How to price Mesa and Palm Springs fairly
To settle the choice for your own winter, ask each place for the same items you see above for Yuma:
- Winter rack rate for 18 with a cart, and the afternoon rate.
- Season or 6-month pass price, and what it includes (cart, range, tax).
- Booking window for the public and for passholders.
- Overseed closure dates in the fall.
- Monthly RV or rental rate for January to March, with utilities.
- Flight price from your home airport for your dates.
If you are also weighing Nevada or Utah, Yuma vs Mesquite golf compares the two, and the Canadian snowbird guide to Mesquite and St. George winter golf cover those towns in the same detail as Yuma.
