A Snowbird Golf Schedule for Yuma: A Day-by-Day Course Rotation Built Around League Days
A snowbird golf schedule for Yuma: a day-by-day course rotation built around league mornings, the best-value tee times, booking windows and rest days.
Open the 3D map of every course →
A good snowbird golf schedule for Yuma follows the league calendar: Las Barrancas on Monday and Thursday, Mesa del Sol on Tuesday, Desert Hills midweek and in the afternoons, and a Wellton day on Saturday. Each course gives its busiest mornings to leagues on different days, so a rotation finds open tee times and the best prices.
This guide sets out which leagues take which mornings, a day-by-day rotation, what the week costs on the rates seen in October 2026, when to book each course, and how to use the rest days. It assumes a Foothills or central base; adjust drive times if you stay on the west side. For choosing that base, see Yuma RV resorts with golf and Yuma monthly rentals for snowbirds.
Quick facts
- Rotation: Mon Las Barrancas, Tue Mesa del Sol, Wed Desert Hills, Thu Las Barrancas, Fri flexible, Sat Wellton, Sun rest or a par 3.

The league calendar behind the schedule
League and club play fills mornings at most Yuma courses from about November to March or April. These are the published days.

Desert Hills has men's and women's clubs, but their days are not published. Fortuna Del Rey's leagues are for residents of the RV resort only. Mesa del Sol's Can-Am men's group takes blocks on days that are not published, and its scramble closures fell on November 7 and December 5, 2026. For how to join any of these, see Yuma golf leagues.
The snowbird golf schedule for Yuma, day by day
Monday: Las Barrancas
No league at Las Barrancas, which hosts its Silver League on Tuesday and Women's League on Wednesday. It posts $65 with a cart in season, books 7 days ahead and charges the whole group for no-shows, so cancel by phone 24 hours ahead if plans change. Book a Trackman bay (from $20 for 30 minutes) to warm up. Avoid Mesa del Sol on Monday mornings, when the Ladies' league tees off.
Tuesday: Mesa del Sol
Tuesday is free of Mesa del Sol's published league times. Passholder access is limited in prime weekday times (about 9:00 to 10:37), which is when public times are easiest to find. Prices step down through the day: in late October 2026 weekdays were $55 before about 11 AM and $35 from 2 PM, with a cart. Online times are prepaid and need 48 hours' notice to cancel.
Wednesday: Desert Hills
Wednesday is league morning at Las Barrancas, Coyote Wash, Cocopah Bend and Foothills Executive, so go to the city course. Desert Hills allows walking at all times; in the Jan-Mar table a morning walk is $55 against $75 riding, and the 10-play walking card brings it to $50. After 1 PM it is $49 riding or $40 walking.
Thursday: Las Barrancas, then night golf
Back to Las Barrancas, or play Coyote Wash, which also has no Thursday league. In the evening the Foothills Par 3 runs lighted night golf Tuesday to Saturday from 6 PM for $20, and its deli and bar stays open to about 11 PM.
Friday: flexible
Friday is the swing day. Mesa del Sol's Men's Association starts at 11 AM, so an early public time can still work; Coyote Wash has its skins shotgun at 9:00. Desert Hills after 1 PM is the value play, or keep Friday as a second rest day.
Saturday: Wellton
Coyote Wash has no Saturday league. Play it in the morning (up to $70 with a cart on the FY 2026-27 maximum, $60 on the punch card), lunch at the Coyote Den, then play Butterfield, the town's 18-hole par 3 two miles away. The Coyote Wash course guide has the details. Wellton is about 40 minutes east of downtown Yuma on I-8, or about 25 minutes from the Foothills.
Sunday: rest or short game
Coyote Wash has its couples shotgun on Sunday. Use the day for practice at the city's 18-hole Arroyo Dunes Par 3, $20 to walk 18 in Jan-Mar, with a scorecard target of three hours or less.
Fewer rounds a week
| Rounds a week | Suggested days |
|---|---|
| 3 | Mon Las Barrancas, Wed Desert Hills, Sat Coyote Wash |
| 4 | Add Tue Mesa del Sol |
| 5 | Add Thu Las Barrancas or Coyote Wash |
| 6 | Add Fri Desert Hills after 1 PM |
What the week costs
This week is priced from posted and live rates seen in October 2026. Winter 2026-27 rates at Mesa del Sol and November-December 2026 rates at Desert Hills were not posted, so this is an estimate and rates change.
| Day | Round | Price used |
|---|---|---|
| Mon | Las Barrancas, 18 with cart | $65 (posted in-season rate) |
| Tue | Mesa del Sol, 18 with cart, morning | $55 (late-October 2026 live rate) |
| Wed | Desert Hills, walking punch card | $50 ($500 for 10, Jan-Mar) |
| Thu | Las Barrancas, 18 with cart | $65 |
| Thu evening | Foothills Par 3 night golf | $20 |
| Sat | Coyote Wash on the punch card | $60 ($600 for 10, with cart) |
| Sat afternoon | Butterfield, 18 after 1 PM | $24 (FY 2025-26 sheet, latest posted) |
| Sun | Arroyo Dunes, walking 18 | $20 (Jan-Mar) |
| Total | $359 |
Swap the Thursday Las Barrancas round for a second Desert Hills walk and the week drops to $344. If you play one course more than about twice a week, compare these prices with a season pass in the Yuma golf passes guide.
Adjusting for conditions and daylight
The rotation needs small changes through the season.
- November: most courses are on new rye after overseed; a few run cart-path-only at first, so check before booking.
- December: the coolest mornings (about 47F normal lows) and short days push tee times toward late morning and midday.
- January to March: the busiest sheets. Book each course as soon as its window opens and lean on afternoons.
- Desert Hills' first tee is sunrise or 6:00 AM MST, whichever is later, and winter sunset is around 5:30 PM.
- Mesa del Sol does not overseed, so its bermuda may be thinner and partly dormant in mid-winter (an expectation, not confirmed). If conditions matter most, weight the overseeded courses.
Booking the rotation
A rotation only works if each tee time is booked as its window opens.
| Course | Window | How |
|---|---|---|
| Butterfield | 3 days | Phone 928-785-4030 |

Questions golfers ask
What is the best day to play Las Barrancas in winter?
Monday, Thursday, Friday or the weekend. Las Barrancas runs its Silver League on Tuesday mornings and a Women's League on Wednesday mornings from about October to April, so those mornings are the busiest.
Which days do Mesa del Sol leagues play?
The Men's Association plays Fridays from 11 AM (mid-October to mid-April) and the Ladies' play Monday and Thursday from 9 AM (November to April). A Can-Am men's group also takes blocks, and some Saturdays close for outside scrambles (for example Nov 7 and Dec 5, 2026). Tuesday and Wednesday are the quieter days.
How many rounds a week do Yuma snowbirds play?
There is no published figure, but the passes are built for frequent play: Mesa del Sol's six-month pass ($3,500 for 2026-27) needs about 64 rounds at $55 to pay for itself. The schedule here works for three to six rounds a week.
What does a week of golf in Yuma cost?
On posted and live prices seen in October 2026, the six-round week in this guide (plus a par-3 evening) adds up to about $359, using punch cards at Desert Hills and Coyote Wash. Winter 2026-27 rates at Mesa del Sol and November-December rates at Desert Hills were not posted, so treat it as an estimate.
When do I need to book each course?
Butterfield takes phone bookings 3 days ahead, Las Barrancas and the Foothills Par 3 open 7 days ahead, Desert Hills opens each date online at 12:00 AM eight days ahead, and Mesa del Sol and Coyote Wash show about 14 days online (the Wellton brochure says 7 days by phone or GolfNow for Coyote Wash). Arroyo Dunes and Cocopah Bend are phone only.
What can I do on a rest day in Yuma?
The Yuma Territorial Prison State Historic Park ($10 adults, open 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM from October to May), the riverfront parks and wetlands trails, a Medjool date farm, or a walk across the Andrade crossing to Los Algodones. The Imperial Sand Dunes viewpoints such as Osborne Overlook need no permit for a short stop.
Which Yuma golf course is best on a cold winter morning?
January mornings average about 48F, so many golfers take later starts. Desert Hills' after-1 PM rate ($49 with a cart or $40 walking in Jan-Mar) and the late-day prices at Las Barrancas and Mesa del Sol reward an afternoon round.
