Before you book
| Access | Municipal daily-fee course owned by the Town of Wellton and open to everyone. Book online (TeeItUp/GolfNow) or by phone at 928-785-GOLF (4653). In season, weekly league shotguns take the course on Tuesday (men, 9:00), Wednesday (women, 9:30), Friday (skins, 9:00) and Sunday (couples, 9:00) mornings. The town says the course may close to open play for maintenance, outings and community events. The AZGA list also names 'Rancho El Mirage Golf Community' in Wellton; that is the gated retirement community built along holes 12-14 of Coyote Wash, not a separate course. |
|---|---|
| Book ahead | 14 days online. On 2026-10-23 the TeeItUp engine said Nov 7 times open 'from Saturday, October 24, 2026 at 12:00 AM' and Nov 15 times open from Nov 1. The town's FY 2026-27 brochure says to book by phone or GolfNow 'up to 7 days in advance'. The engine shows a 24-hour cancellation policy. No card payment online; you pay at the course. |
| Overseed / closures | The Arizona Golf Association 2026 overseeding list shows Coyote Wash as overseed 'Unknown', dates 'contact course', and neither the course nor the town has published 2026 overseed dates (checked 2026-10-23). The last published schedule (Yuma Sun, Sep 28, 2024) had Coyote Wash closed from Sep 30 to about Oct 25, 2024. In 2026 the online tee sheet was empty for Oct 23-27 except for a few late slots on Oct 28-30, which fits a similar late-October reopening. This is unconfirmed, so call 928-785-4653. |

Local knowledge
- It is 30 minutes east of Yuma on I-8, so it is the backup when the Yuma and Foothills courses are crowded in February and March. A 2023 GolfPass reviewer said tee times were easy to get.
- Avoid league mornings: Tuesday (men), Wednesday (women), Friday (skins) and Sunday (couples) all have 9:00-9:30 shotgun starts.
- The online engine releases tee times 14 days out, but the town's brochure says 7 days by phone or GolfNow. Check online first.
- For a winter stay, the $600 transferable 10-play punch card with cart works out to $60 a round against the $70 maximum rack rate, and a group can share it.
- Kids 17 and under play free, so it works for families.
- GolfPass reviews (3.9 of 5 from 495) are mixed on conditions. Some praise the greens, while others mention slow greens, long fairway grass and poor bunker sand.
