Leagues start up: Mesa del Sol's ladies' group begins in November, and the Cocopah Bend and Fortuna Del Rey winter clubs run from November to March (the Fortuna Del Rey leagues are for resort residents only). Prices vary by night: the Hilton Garden Inn figure is for Veterans Day and sits close to its February rate. The Comfort Inn is about 5 minutes from Mesa del Sol; the Hilton Garden Inn is downtown, with Desert Hills about 13 minutes away.

The weather is warm enough for shorts and a cold drink at the turn, the rye is new, and tee sheets are easier than in January to March because winter visitors are still arriving. Evenings are easy too: night golf at the Foothills Par 3 runs Tuesday to Saturday, and the Tipsy Cactus next door has winter live music Tuesday to Thursday.
