A day-by-day 4-day Yuma golf trip itinerary: Desert Hills, Las Barrancas, Coyote Wash and Mesa del Sol, with night golf, a rest day and booking dates.
Open the 3D map of every course →
This Yuma golf trip itinerary fits four rounds into Thursday to Sunday: Desert Hills on arrival, Las Barrancas and night golf on Friday, Coyote Wash in Wellton on Saturday and Mesa del Sol on Sunday. It dodges the main league mornings, costs about $259 per golfer in green fees at October 2026 rates, and has an optional rest day.
It works for a couple, a foursome or a larger group flying into Phoenix or San Diego, or driving in, between November and April. Each day of the plan lines up with that course's booking window and weekly league schedule, which matter more in a Yuma winter than almost anything else. Group logistics such as rooms and split costs are in a separate guide.

The 4-day Yuma golf trip itinerary at a glance
| Day | Golf | Suggested time | Rate seen | Why this day |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Thu | Desert Hills | After 1 PM | $49 ride / $40 walk (Jan-Mar table) | Afternoon arrival; best-value tier |
| Fri | Las Barrancas | Morning | $65 with cart | No league on Fridays |
| Fri night | Foothills Par 3 | 6 PM onward | $20 night golf | Lights on Tue-Sat |
| Sat | Coyote Wash | Morning | Up to $70 with cart (2026-27 maximum) | No Saturday league shotgun |
| Sun | Mesa del Sol | Morning | $55 with cart (late Oct 2026 rate) | Avoids Saturday outside scrambles |
Total: $49 + $65 + $20 + $70 + $55 = $259 per golfer. Mesa del Sol's winter 2026-27 public rates and the Desert Hills November-December 2026 table were not posted when we checked, and Coyote Wash's figure is the town's stated maximum, so the real number may be lower or higher. Rates change.
Day 1, Thursday: arrive and play Desert Hills
Fly or drive in during the morning and play Desert Hills, the city course that hosted the Yuma Open in the early 1990s. On the January-to-March table the after-1 PM rate is $49 with a cart or $40 walking, against $75 or $55 before 11 AM. Winter sunset is around 5:30 PM and the scorecard pace rating is 4 hours 18 minutes, so take the first time you can get after 1 PM. Fivesomes are allowed.
Desert Hills releases each day's online tee sheet at midnight eight days ahead, so set a reminder for that night. Range balls are $6 for 30 if you want to warm up after the drive.
Dinner: downtown is 11 minutes from the course. River City Grill (Google 4.5 from 1,627 reviews) and Prison Hill Brewing Company on Main Street (4.3) are both downtown, and The Hills GastroPub is right at the Desert Hills clubhouse if you would rather not move.
Day 2, Friday: Las Barrancas and night golf
Las Barrancas is the longest and hilliest course in the Foothills, with a 127 slope from the 6,888-yard Black tees. Fridays carry no league, unlike Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. The posted rate is $65 with cart. Public times open 7 days ahead, with a maximum of four per booking, so a group of eight books two times back to back. Cancellations need 24 hours' notice by phone, or the card is charged for the whole group. The Las Barrancas course guide has the full tee sheet.
Lunch: the Trackman Deli & Bar at the Las Barrancas range serves pizzas, sandwiches and all-day breakfast with a full bar. Book a Trackman bay ($20 for 30 minutes) if anyone wants a session.
Evening: take the short drive to the Foothills Par 3 for lighted night golf from 6 PM ($20, LED balls $5). The deli and bar stay open to about 11 PM, so it doubles as the night out.
Day 3, Saturday: Coyote Wash in Wellton
Head 25 minutes east on I-8 from the Foothills to Wellton. Coyote Wash is a short municipal desert course (6,089 yards, par 70 for men) with undulating greens and bunkers as its main defenses. Its league shotguns are on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday mornings, so Saturday is open. The town's FY 2026-27 maximum is $70 with cart. The online engine releases times 14 days out, though the town's brochure says up to 7 days by phone or GolfNow, so check online first. Golfers 17 and under play free.
Lunch: the Coyote Den at the course serves breakfast and lunch to 2:30 PM from October to April.
Optional afternoon: Butterfield, Wellton's 18-hole par 3, is about 2 miles away and was $24 for 18 after 1 PM on the latest posted sheet (FY 2025-26). Book by phone, up to 3 days ahead. Our Wellton golf guide has both courses in detail.
Dinner: back in the Foothills, Izzie's Diner (4.7) and Yuma Thai Cuisine (4.4) are well reviewed, but several Foothills places close at 7 or 8 PM. For a later night, drive into town for Bodega 23 on 16th Street (4.8 from 2,682 reviews).
Day 4, Sunday: Mesa del Sol and home
Mesa del Sol books 14 days ahead on its own TeeItUp page, and online times are prepaid with 48 hours' notice to cancel (refunds come as a gift card). On a late-October 2026 weekend morning it was $55 with cart, stepping down to $40 from about 12:30 PM. Sunday avoids its weekday league blocks and the occasional Saturday when outside scrambles close the course (Nov 7 and Dec 5, 2026, for example). Play early, then drive out: Phoenix is about 3 hours east and San Diego about 3 hours west, and westbound drivers gain an hour in winter. See the Mesa del Sol course guide for pace and pass details.
Rest-day option: add a Monday
If the group wants a day off, add a Monday after the Sunday round, or slot a rest day between Friday and Saturday:
- Yuma Territorial Prison State Historic Park: $10 adults, open 9 AM to 4:30 PM from October to May.
- Gateway Park and the East Wetlands: easy walking trails along the Colorado River near the Territorial Prison.
- Los Algodones: park in the Quechan lot at Andrade ($10 a day for cars), walk across, and carry a passport or other approved document to return. It is one hour behind Yuma in winter.
- Imperial Sand Dunes: short stops at Osborne Overlook and a few other sites need no permit.
Things to do in Yuma and our Los Algodones day trip have the hours and rules.
Where to stay for a Yuma golf trip itinerary like this
A Foothills base keeps the driving short. From Comfort Inn & Suites Yuma I-8, Mesa del Sol is 5 minutes, Las Barrancas 12, the Par 3 14 and Coyote Wash 25; only Desert Hills is a 21-minute drive. It showed $156 a night ($135 member) for Wednesday, Feb 17, 2027, with free breakfast. Best Western Plus Yuma Foothills showed $131 with breakfast on Kayak for the same night.
If the group wants to walk to dinner, base downtown at the Hilton Garden Inn Yuma Pivot Point (from $189 on hilton.com for Feb 17, 2027), which has a bar, restaurant and free airport shuttle. Expect 27 minutes to Las Barrancas each morning. All rates were seen Oct 23, 2026, before tax. Where to stay in Yuma for golf compares every option.
Getting there and the clock
Most groups fly into Phoenix and drive 189 miles, about 3 hr 14 min by Google Maps on a Friday, or into San Diego and drive 177 miles, about 2 hr 50 min. Yuma keeps Arizona time all year, so from Nov 1, 2026 to Mar 14, 2027 a San Diego group loses an hour on the way in; book Thursday's Desert Hills time with that in mind. Yuma's own airport has American Eagle flights from Phoenix and Dallas/Fort Worth, but Phoenix round trips were about $470 to $520 in January.
Booking checklist
- 14 days out: Mesa del Sol (Sunday) and Coyote Wash (Saturday) online; Coyote Wash by phone or GolfNow opens 7 days out per the town.
- 8 days out, at midnight: Desert Hills (Thursday).
- 7 days out: Las Barrancas (Friday), in foursomes.
- Any time: Foothills Par 3 night golf, walk-ins welcome.

Questions golfers ask
How many days do you need for a Yuma golf trip?
Four days covers the main public 18s: Desert Hills in town, Las Barrancas and Mesa del Sol in the Foothills, and Coyote Wash in Wellton. Add a fifth day if you want a rest day for the Territorial Prison, Los Algodones or the sand dunes.
What does a 4-day Yuma golf trip cost in green fees?
Using rates seen in October 2026, this plan comes to about $259 per golfer: Desert Hills after 1 PM $49, Las Barrancas $65, Foothills Par 3 night golf $20, Coyote Wash up to $70 and Mesa del Sol $55. Mesa del Sol's winter 2026-27 rates were not posted, so its price may differ. Rates change.
Which days should I avoid at Yuma golf courses?
League mornings. In season Las Barrancas has leagues on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, Mesa del Sol on Monday and Thursday from 9 AM and Friday from 11 AM, and Coyote Wash on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday mornings. A Thursday-to-Sunday trip can dodge most of them.
Where should a golf group stay for this itinerary?
The Foothills, for the shortest drives: from the Comfort Inn & Suites Yuma I-8, Mesa del Sol is 5 minutes, Las Barrancas 12 and Coyote Wash 25. A downtown base like the Hilton Garden Inn adds about 15 minutes each way to the Foothills (21 to Mesa del Sol, 27 to Las Barrancas) but puts dinner on foot.
When should I book tee times for a Yuma golf trip?
Each course opens on its own window: Mesa del Sol and Coyote Wash about 14 days out online (the Wellton town brochure says 7 days by phone or GolfNow for Coyote Wash), Desert Hills 8 days out at midnight, and Las Barrancas 7 days out. Book in that order, and note that Mesa del Sol's online times are prepaid with 48 hours' notice to cancel.
Can you play golf at night in Yuma?
Yes. Foothills Par 3 has lighted night golf Tuesday to Saturday from 6 PM to about 9:30 PM for $20, and sells LED balls for $5. Its deli and bar stay open to about 11 PM.
