Guide emblem: Where to stay in Yuma for golf: downtown, 16th Street, the Foothills or an RV resort

Where to stay in Yuma for golf depends on your courses. The Foothills hotels sit 5 to 12 minutes from Mesa del Sol and Las Barrancas. Downtown and the 16th Street/I-8 cluster are 11 to 13 minutes from Desert Hills and 17 to 27 minutes from the Foothills, with far more restaurants. RV resorts suit longer winter stays.

Yuma is spread out along I-8. The city course, Desert Hills, and the old country club are on the west and central side; four of the public courses are 15 to 19 miles east in the Fortuna Foothills; and Wellton is about 25 minutes beyond that (about 40 minutes from downtown). So the base you pick decides whether your daily drive is 5 minutes or 25.

Quick facts

  • Four areas: downtown/Pivot Point, the 16th Street and I-8 hotel cluster, the Fortuna Foothills, and RV resorts across town.
  • Cheapest brand hotel seen for Feb 17, 2027: SpringHill Suites from $140 (marriott.com, before tax).
  • Closest hotels to the Foothills courses: Comfort Inn & Suites (Mesa del Sol 5 min) and Best Western Plus (6 min).
  • Walkable evenings: best downtown, near Main Street.
  • RV resorts publish daily, weekly and monthly rates; only Cocopah Bend has a full 18 on site.
  • Every rate here was seen Oct 23, 2026. Rates change.

Downtown and Pivot Point hotels

Downtown sits on the Colorado River by Gateway Park, about 2 blocks from Main Street's restaurants and bars and about 15 minutes on foot from the Territorial Prison. It is the best area for walking to dinner; elsewhere most guests drive.

  • Hilton Garden Inn Yuma Pivot Point: the most complete hotel downtown, with 150 rooms, the Great American Grille, a bar, room service and a free airport shuttle. From $189 on hilton.com for Feb 17, 2027 and $135 for Jan 13, 2027. Breakfast costs extra.
  • Home2 Suites Yuma Pivot Point: across the street, all suites with kitchens and free hot breakfast. From $159 for Feb 17, 2027 and $105 for a July date. No bar of its own; the Hilton Garden Inn's is across the street.
  • Historic Coronado Motor Hotel: the 1938 motor hotel, now sold through OYO. The OYO US site showed $70 to $82 for late October, and Kayak about $68 to $88 for Feb 17, 2027. Rooms are small and service reviews have been mixed, but it is the cheapest base downtown, with Yuma Landing Bar & Grill next door.

From downtown, Desert Hills is about 11 to 13 minutes and Yuma Golf & Country Club about 10 to 12. The Foothills courses are 21 to 29 minutes east.

The 16th Street and I-8 hotel cluster

Most of Yuma's brand hotels sit together off 16th Street near I-8 and Yuma Palms Regional Center, with Cracker Barrel, Broken Yolk Cafe and other chain restaurants a minute or two away. This is the central compromise: about 11 minutes to Desert Hills and 6 to 7 minutes to Yuma G&CC, and roughly 17 to 27 minutes to the Foothills courses.

For summer comparison, the same brand sites showed July 14, 2027 rates of $131 at SpringHill and Fairfield (1 Double), $131 at Homewood and $137 at Hampton.

Fortuna Foothills hotels

Two brand hotels sit right by the Foothills courses, about 12 miles from downtown.

  • Comfort Inn & Suites Yuma I-8: free hot breakfast, outdoor pool and hot tub, and parking for vehicles of all sizes. choicehotels.com showed $156 ($135 member) for Feb 17, 2027, $142 ($123 member) for Jan 13, $124 for Nov 2, 2026 and $94 for July 14, 2027. No pets.
  • Best Western Plus Yuma Foothills Inn & Suites: kitchenette suites, free breakfast and a fire pit area. Kayak showed $131 with breakfast for Feb 17, 2027, the cheapest Foothills brand rate on the dates checked.

From either, Mesa del Sol is 5 to 6 minutes, Las Barrancas 12 minutes, Foothills Executive and the Foothills Par 3 13 to 14 minutes, and Coyote Wash in Wellton about 25 minutes. Desert Hills is 21 minutes back west. Evenings mean the Fortuna Rd and Foothills Blvd restaurants, several of which close at 7 or 8 PM. Read Fortuna Foothills golf for the full picture of that area.

RV resorts and monthly stays

For a house or condo instead, Long Realty Yuma listed furnished park models at $1,300 a month and a furnished Mesa del Sol condo at $2,500, and the Mesa del Sol condos rent for about $1,400 to $3,050 a month through owners and brokers. Where to stay in Yuma for golf, by type of trip

A buddies group on a 3-5 night trip that wants a bar and dinner without driving: downtown at the Hilton Garden Inn, or the Holiday Inn with Burger Theory on site. See planning a Yuma buddies golf trip.

Couples or pairs who play every day and want free breakfast: SpringHill, Fairfield or Hampton on 16th Street, or the Comfort Inn if most rounds are in the Foothills.

Golfers who mainly play Mesa del Sol and Las Barrancas: the Foothills, without question. Saving about 15 minutes each way adds up over a week.

Snowbirds staying a month or more: an RV resort or monthly rental near the courses you will play most. The Yuma golf trip itinerary shows how a base fits a four-round trip, and flights to Yuma covers getting here.

Booking tips

  • Most rates here are for Wednesday nights. Weekends and event weekends, such as Midnight at the Oasis (Mar 5-7, 2027) and the MCAS Yuma Airshow (Mar 13, 2027), can cost more.
  • Several sites showed Canadian-dollar prices to Canadian browsers; check the currency before you compare.
  • Pets: Hilton Garden Inn, Home2 and Hampton listed $75 for 1-4 nights and Homewood $100; the Comfort Inn takes no pets.
  • Check-in at the Holiday Inn Express is not until 4 PM, which matters after a morning round.
