Duotone terrain map: Fortuna Foothills golf: the courses, stays and food east of Yuma

Fortuna Foothills golf means four public courses a few miles apart off I-8, about 21 minutes east of central Yuma: Las Barrancas, Mesa del Sol, Foothills Executive and the lighted Foothills Par 3. Add a resort nine, big RV parks, two brand hotels and a row of diners, and many winter golfers base here.

The Foothills sit below the Gila Mountains, a little higher than town (about 120 m against 65 m at the Yuma airfield). Most addresses read "Yuma, AZ 85367", and the area is served by the Foothills Blvd and Fortuna Rd exits. Here is what is there, what it costs and how it fits a golf trip or a winter stay.

Quick facts

  • Five courses on the map, all within a short drive: two 18s, an executive nine, a par-3 nine and a resort nine.
  • Central Yuma to the Foothills courses: about 16 miles and 21 minutes (free-flow estimate).
  • Rates seen October 2026: $20 (par 3) to $65 (Las Barrancas with cart).
  • Mesa del Sol does not close for overseed; Las Barrancas closes one nine at a time.
  • RV parks here publish monthly rates from $605 (Caravan Oasis, Regular lot) to $1,090 (Fortuna de Oro).
  • Wellton's two courses are about 25 minutes east of the Foothills hotels.

Las Barrancas

Las Barrancas is the longest and hilliest layout on this side of Yuma, with washes, elevation changes and mountain views. The posted rate is $65 for 18 with cart, but the live tee sheet is worth checking late in the day: on Saturday, Oct 24, 2026 it showed $35 from 3:00 PM and $25 for later times. Public tee times open 7 days ahead. Tuesday (Silver League) and Wednesday (Women's League) mornings carry league play from about October to April. The Las Barrancas course guide has the tee-by-tee ratings and booking rules.

Mesa del Sol

Mesa del Sol, an Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay design from 1978, was regrassed with TifEagle greens and TifTuf fairways in 2022. Its two nines sit on either side of S Camino del Sol. Late-October 2026 weekday rates stepped down through the day: $55 before about 11 AM, $50 to about 12:52 PM, $45 after 1 PM and $35 from 2 PM, cart included. It books about 14 days ahead on its own TeeItUp page (GolfNow shows about 7) and sells 6-month passes for snowbirds. Leagues take Friday from 11 AM and Monday and Thursday from 9 AM in season. See the Mesa del Sol course guide and our comparison of Las Barrancas vs Mesa del Sol.

Foothills Executive and Foothills Par 3

These two sister courses of Las Barrancas sit about 500 m apart on County 14th St, with separate tee sheets and phones. Foothills Executive is a 9-hole par 34 at $35, with $15 for the last hour of starts in late October 2026, and The Tipsy Cactus cantina on site. The Foothills Executive course guide has its tee ratings, which are for the nine played twice. Foothills Par 3 is a $20 nine of 60 to 175 yards with a driving range and lighted night golf Tuesday to Saturday from 6 PM. Our Foothills Par 3 guide covers night golf and how the two nines pair up.

Fortuna Del Rey and Westwind

Fortuna Del Rey is a flat 9-hole regulation course inside Fortuna de Oro RV Resort. The resort publishes no visitor policy or green fees, and its weekly leagues are for residents, so call the pro shop (928-342-4766) before you go. The 9-hole par 3 at Westwind RV & Golf Resort has unclear status: the resort posted that it closed for maintenance and reseeding from May 12, 2026 until further notice. Call first.

Why winter golfers base in the Fortuna Foothills

The short answer is time. Stay near the Fortuna Foothills golf courses and the two 18s are minutes away, so the long drive is to town, not to the first tee. Routed drive times from the map:

Where to eat in the Foothills

The clubhouses cover the day. Las Barrancas has the Trackman Deli & Bar at its range, with pizzas, sandwiches, all-day breakfast and a full bar. The Tipsy Cactus at Foothills Executive (Google 4.5) runs 7 AM to 10 PM Tuesday to Saturday, with live music Tuesday to Thursday evenings in winter. The Foothills Par 3 Deli & Bar stays open to about 11 PM on night-golf evenings. Mesa del Sol has a dining room and patio over the 9th green, with limited food in summer.

Off the course, the best-reviewed Foothills spots on Google in October 2026 were Izzie's Diner on Foothills Blvd (4.7 from 195 reviews), Baja Blue Taco's (4.6 from 181) and Yuma Thai Cuisine on Fortuna Rd (4.4 from 235). Westwind Bar & Grill inside the RV resort rated 4.6 from 436 reviews. Several Foothills places showed 7 to 8 PM closing times, so plan an early dinner or drive into town. Our guide to where to eat in Yuma covers both areas.

A Foothills week that works

  • Monday: Las Barrancas (no league).
  • Tuesday: Mesa del Sol, since Las Barrancas has its Silver League that morning.
  • Wednesday: Foothills Par 3 and range work, then night golf.
  • Thursday: Las Barrancas or a drive east to Wellton golf.
  • Friday: Mesa del Sol in the morning, before the Men's Association block at 11 AM.

That avoids the main league mornings listed by each course. For a full rotation that includes the city courses, see the snowbird golf schedule for Yuma.

How many golf courses are in the Fortuna Foothills?

Five are on our map: Las Barrancas and Mesa del Sol (both 18 holes), Foothills Executive (9 holes, par 34), Foothills Par 3 (9 holes) and Fortuna Del Rey, a 9-hole course inside Fortuna de Oro RV Resort. The par 3 at Westwind RV & Golf Resort has unclear status; call first.

Is it better to stay in the Foothills or in Yuma for golf?

If most of your rounds are at Las Barrancas and Mesa del Sol, the Foothills saves time: Mesa del Sol is 5 minutes from the Comfort Inn & Suites and 7 from Westwind RV resort. Downtown Yuma has more restaurants and nightlife but is 21 to 28 minutes from the Foothills courses.

Which Foothills course does not close for overseed?

Yes. Well-reviewed spots on Google in October 2026 included Izzie's Diner (4.7), Baja Blue Taco's (4.6) and Yuma Thai Cuisine (4.4), plus The Tipsy Cactus at the Foothills Executive course. Several Foothills places close at 7 or 8 PM, so eat early or drive into town.
