Two event weekends, Midnight at the Oasis (Mar 5-7, 2027) and the MCAS Yuma Airshow (Mar 13, 2027), fill hotels, so book lodging first and tee times on release day.

What Yuma golf in March is like
March is the warmest of the peak months. Mornings start in the mid 50s and afternoons reach about 80F, with less than two days of measurable rain on average. The overseeded rye is at its best, and this is excellent golf. By late March afternoons are warm enough that a morning tee time is the better choice. Yuma golf in March is also still busy. The winter crowd is in town for most of the month, leagues are still playing, and spring breaks in the US and Canada fall in March. Pace can suffer: a Desert Hills reviewer reported a 5:15 round in March 2026, so take an early time.
What to wear: short sleeves for most rounds, a light layer for early starts, and a hat and sunscreen.

Two pass details matter in March. The Desert Hills punch cards ($500 walking or $650 with a cart for ten rounds) are valid January to March only, so use them before April. The 2026 air show, on Mar 14, featured the Blue Angels. The Yuma County Fair, which ran Mar 31 to Apr 5 in 2026, is recorded in Fair Board minutes as moving to Jul 28-Aug 1 for 2027; confirm with the fair. There is no spring training baseball in Yuma today; Cactus League games are in the Phoenix area, about 3 hours away.
What to book early for Yuma golf in March
- Lodging for Mar 5-7 and Mar 13. These are the busiest hotel weekends of the month. Downtown hotels such as the Hilton Garden Inn Yuma Pivot Point and the Historic Coronado Motor Hotel keep you near downtown restaurants; Foothills hotels such as the Best Western Plus Yuma Foothills are about 6 minutes from Mesa del Sol and 12 from Las Barrancas. March hotel rates were not checked; for comparison, a Wednesday in mid-February 2027 showed about $68-$88 at the Coronado, $131 at the Best Western Plus and from $189 at the Hilton Garden Inn (seen October 2026). - Tee times on release day. Desert Hills opens each date at midnight eight days ahead, Mesa del Sol and Coyote Wash about 14 days online (the Wellton town brochure says 7 days by phone or GolfNow for Coyote Wash), Las Barrancas 7 days. Our Yuma tee times in winter guide has every rule.
- Flights around the air show. YUM shares its runways with MCAS Yuma, and the show day affects the area. Phoenix and San Diego are about three hours' drive.
- A Wellton backup. Coyote Wash, about 40 minutes east of downtown on I-8 (about 25 from the Foothills), is the usual escape when the Yuma and Foothills sheets are full in February and March, and Butterfield is about 2 miles from it for a short par-3 round. Our Coyote Wash guide has a day plan.

This plan covers Monday, Mar 8 to Sunday, Mar 14, 2027: the week after Midnight at the Oasis, with the air show on Saturday. It avoids published league mornings and keeps you away from the air station on show day.

Mind the clock
Arizona does not change clocks. Before Mar 14, 2027, Yuma is one hour ahead of San Diego, Palm Springs and Las Vegas. From Mar 14 they match. If you drive in from California on the morning of the 13th or 14th, check which time your tee time is in. A phone near the Colorado River can also pick up a California tower and show the wrong time. Many winter visitors plan their departure around Easter. Before you go, use up any Desert Hills punch-card rounds (they expire with the January-March season), settle up with your league, and ask your RV park about the next season's booking, since monthly stays are often booked a season in advance.
Late March and into April
After Easter the winter population thins and tee times get easier, while the rye holds up. The organizer's 2027 vendor application gives Mar 5-7, 2027 for the 33rd annual show, while its 2026-27 sponsorship package says Mar 4-7. It is a large classic-car show run by the Caballeros de Yuma at Desert Sun Stadium and the Ray Kroc Complex, and it fills hotels for the weekend.
What should I book early for a March golf trip to Yuma?

Are Yuma golf rates lower in March?

Does the time difference with California change in March?
Yes. On March 14, 2027 California and Nevada move their clocks forward, so from then until November 7, 2027 San Diego, Palm Springs and Las Vegas show the same time as Yuma. Before March 14 they are one hour behind Yuma.
Is there spring training baseball in Yuma in March?
No. The San Diego Padres trained in Yuma until moving to Peoria for 1994, and Desert Sun Stadium was converted for soccer in 2015. Cactus League games are in the Phoenix area, about 3 hours away.
