Where Mesquite sits: down I-15 from St. George, Utah

Mesquite is southwest of St. George on I-15, the same road you'd take to Las Vegas. Between the two towns, the interstate runs a short stretch through Arizona's Virgin River Gorge. Mesquite's courses are packed tightly together, all within about 15 minutes of the casino hotels, so once you're there the driving mostly stops.

Here's how far each course is from downtown St. George, using the map's routing estimates (minutes, road miles). These aren't GPS-routed times, and Google typically shows a little less, about 40 to 50 minutes to Wolf Creek.

Course From downtown St. George
Beaver Dam Lodge (AZ)39 min, 29.5 mi
Oasis Palmer and Canyons50 min, 39.3 mi
CasaBlanca51 min, 41.8 mi
Wolf Creek52 min, 40.0 mi
Falcon Ridge52 min, 41.8 mi
Coyote Willows53 min, 42.4 mi
Conestoga56 min, 42.2 mi
Palms (AZ)57 min, 41.3 mi

Where you sleep in the St. George area changes the math. From the Hilton Garden Inn St. George, Wolf Creek is about 48 minutes. From Best Western Plus Settlers Point in Washington it's about 56, from the Black Desert Resort hotel in Ivins about 63, and from the Sand Hollow Resort condos in Hurricane about 69. If Mesquite is a big part of your plans, a hotel in St. George itself is the closest Utah base; Washington, Ivins and Hurricane each add time. Our guide to where to stay for golf in St. George compares the areas, and the Mesquite golf day trip from St. George lays out a one-day run.

The time-zone rule

Mesquite is on Pacific time, one hour behind St. George on Mountain time, all year. Every Mesquite tee time is local. If you're sleeping in St. George and have a 9:00 tee time at Wolf Creek, that's 10:00 on your hotel clock, so you have more time than you think. It works the other way on the drive home: you lose an hour.

The two Arizona courses are a special case. Arizona doesn't observe daylight saving, so official local time there matches St. George from November to March and Mesquite from March to November. Palms is sold and run from Mesquite, so its tee times are very likely on Mesquite time, but confirm the clock when you book Palms or Beaver Dam Lodge.

The Mesquite, Nevada golf courses one by one

Wolf Creek: the bucket-list round

Golf Digest ranks Wolf Creek #5 in Nevada and #59 on America's 100 Greatest Public Courses (2025-26). It's a desert canyon target course by Dennis Rider, opened in 2000, with tees perched on ridges and drops of up to about 100 feet. The current USGA slope from the Challenger tees is 147, and 155 on the back nine alone. The club's own card still prints an older 154. Expect rounds of five hours or more, which the club itself warns about. It's also the most expensive course in town, at $200 in December and January up to $420 on spring weekends (2025-26 rate page). Full details are in our Wolf Creek guide and the Wolf Creek course page.

Conestoga: ranked, and cheap in summer

Conestoga is a Gary Panks design from 2009 inside Del Webb's Sun City Mesquite, managed by Troon. It's the longest course in town (7,171 rated yards) and #20 on Golf Digest's Nevada list. Its signature is the 394-yard #4, "The Fence Hole," where the fairway drops 25 feet off a cliff. The fee band runs from $205 to $300 for public 18 in peak season (February 10 to April 30 and October 1 to November 21, 2026). From June 22 to August 30 it drops to $80 to $120, the cheapest way onto a Golf Digest-ranked Mesquite course. It's closed for all of September. See the Conestoga course page.

Oasis Palmer and Oasis Canyons: two courses, one clubhouse

The Palmer course (Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay, 1995) is short at 6,455 yards and rewards precision. Palmer listed holes 5, 6 and 8 among the best he designed. The Canyons is the harder sister. Its front nine is Dave Druzisky's (2005) and its back nine is Palmer's original "Vistas" nine, with carries to narrow canyon targets. Both had the same online prices, about $105 to $210 for October 2026 to August 2027. In fall 2026 that meant $190 before about 1 pm and $130 after. Two things make Oasis useful for golfers based in St. George:

  • Washington County residents get the Oasis resident rate, so St. George locals and snowbirds with a local address qualify with ID (book within 30 days). The amount isn't published, so call 702-346-7820.
  • The closures are staggered. In 2026 Canyons closed September 2 to 30 and Palmer September 14 to October 6. That left one Oasis course open in early September and in the first week of October, though both were shut from September 14 to 30.

Red-staked desert areas on Palmer #5 to #8 are no-entry, and there's no denim, even on the range. The Oasis Palmer course page has the full tee table.

Falcon Ridge: plateau tees at a friendlier length

Falcon Ridge (2004) plays 6,303 rated yards with elevated tees off high plateaus and tiered greens. The back-nine greens were all replaced in summer 2026, so expect young surfaces this season. Prices are dynamic and tiered through the day. October 2026 ran about $198 to $203 in the morning, falling to $92.50 from 3:40 pm. June 2027 dropped to $50 from 1 pm. Resident discounts are applied at check-in, not online. Sources disagree on par: the official site says 72, while GolfPass lists 71, so check the card on the day.

CasaBlanca: flat, watery and package-friendly

CasaBlanca is a Cal Olson course from 1996 on the Virgin River bottomlands, with water on 13 of 18 holes. It hosts the Nevada Open (November 3 to 5, 2026). The back tees slope 141, the stiffest in town after Wolf Creek, but the Clubs tees (6,036 rated yards) slope 125. Fall 2026 ran $160 before 1 pm and $100 after. The resort advertises 20% off room-and-golf packages through its golf package coordinator (877-438-2929). Afternoon wind off the river is the main defence.

Palms Golf Club: two personalities

Palms (1990) is technically in Littlefield, Arizona, but it's run by the same owner as CasaBlanca and sold as a Mesquite course. The front nine is resort golf with wide fairways and 200-plus palms. The back nine is desert canyon, including a #15 with a 114-foot drop from tee to fairway. On the resort's online tee sheet in October 2026, fall prices ran from $86 on some weekdays to $134 on weekends and busier days, with afternoon times at $76 to $95 and the cart included.

Coyote Willows and Beaver Dam Lodge: the extra nines

Coyote Willows is a 9-hole par 35 by the river at $50 for nine (online, October to December 2026). The club advertises 6 am to noon tee times, but afternoon slots also show online. It may stay open during September overseed, so call 702-345-3222.

Beaver Dam Lodge in Arizona is nine par 3s (about 1,049 yards) under old cottonwoods at a lodge and RV resort. At 39 minutes from downtown St. George it's the closest of the group. It has no website or online booking, and the last dated review was March 2025, so call 928-347-2222 first.

Mesquite as part of a St. George golf trip

Most golfers fit Mesquite in one of three ways: a round on arrival day off a Las Vegas flight (Mesquite is about 1 hour 10 minutes from the airport), a day trip from a St. George hotel, or a split week. To decide, read St. George vs Mesquite golf and our 5-day St. George and Mesquite itinerary.

If you're coming from the Hurricane side, toward Sand Hollow and Zion, Mesquite is more than an hour away, so it fits better as a travel-day stop. Our Hurricane and Sand Hollow golf guide covers that end of Washington County.
