Drive lines from downtown St. George: A Mesquite Golf Day Trip From St. George, Utah: Which Course, How Long, What It Costs

A Mesquite golf day trip from St. George, Utah is easy: the Mesquite, Nevada courses are about 40 miles down I-15, 50 to 57 minutes from downtown St. George on our routing estimates. Pick Wolf Creek for the bucket-list round or the Oasis Golf Club for two courses at one clubhouse. Mesquite runs an hour behind St. George, so the clock helps you in the morning and costs you an hour on the way home.

This guide covers the one-day version only: which course to pick, how to time the drive, how to fit two rounds, and what it costs. For every course in detail, see Mesquite Nevada golf courses. Fees were seen in October 2026 and change.

The drive: St. George to Mesquite on I-15

From St. George, take I-15 southwest. Between the two towns the interstate runs a short scenic stretch through Arizona's Virgin River Gorge, then drops into Mesquite. All seven Nevada courses are within about 15 minutes of each other once you arrive.

Map estimates, in minutes and road miles. These are routing estimates, not GPS times; Google typically shows about 40 to 50 minutes to Wolf Creek from St. George.

The time-zone math

Mesquite is on Pacific time, one hour behind St. George on Mountain time, all year. Every Mesquite tee time is Mesquite local time.

That works in your favour going down. Leave St. George at 7:00 Utah time and you reach Wolf Creek a little before 7:00 Mesquite time. It works against you coming home: a 2:00 pm departure from Mesquite gets you back to St. George close to 4:00 pm Utah time.

Two Arizona courses near Mesquite, Palms in Littlefield and Beaver Dam Lodge, are a special case. Arizona doesn't observe daylight saving, so its official time matches St. George from November to March and Mesquite from March to November. Palms is sold and run from Mesquite, so its tee times are very likely on Mesquite time, but confirm the clock when you book either one.

Wolf Creek is the reason most St. George golfers make the drive. Golf Digest ranks it #5 in Nevada and #59 on America's 100 Greatest Public Courses (2025-26). It's also the biggest commitment: the club says rounds will most likely exceed five hours, it's foursomes only, and you need to check in at least 30 minutes early. Pick your tees honestly; the Challenger tees slope 147, and the Champions (140) or Masters (133) suit most players. Our Wolf Creek guide and Wolf Creek course page cover it hole by hole.

Oasis is the most flexible day trip. The Palmer course is the friendlier of the two, and the Canyons is harder, with narrow canyon targets on its back nine. Both had the same online prices: $190 before about 1 pm and $130 after in fall 2026, $155 mornings and $105 from noon in December and January. Verified Washington County, Utah residents get the Oasis resident rate with ID, booked within 30 days; call 702-346-7820 for the amount. See the Oasis Palmer course page.

Conestoga is the ranked alternative to Wolf Creek. Public 18 ran $205 to $300 in peak season (February 10 to April 30 and October 1 to November 21, 2026) and dropped to $80 to $120 from June 22 to August 30. Range balls come with your round, and reviews say the carts have no GPS. The Conestoga course page has the tees.

CasaBlanca, Falcon Ridge and Palms are the value end. CasaBlanca was $160 before 1 pm and $100 after in fall 2026. Falcon Ridge's October 2026 mornings ran about $198 to $203, falling in tiers to $92.50 from 3:40 pm. Palms showed $86 to $134 for fall 2026 on the resort's tee sheet.

Pairing two rounds in one Mesquite day

A 36-hole day trip from St. George is possible, but it's long. Here's what works, using the course and hotel data on the map. Sunset times aren't part of our data, so check yours; this is spring and fall golf, not December golf.

Oasis Palmer, then Canyons. The easiest double, because both courses share one clubhouse, a range and the Grille Room for lunch. Both recommend 4:30 rounds on the scorecard. Play the Palmer in the morning at $190 and the Canyons at the $130 afternoon rate (fall 2026). The range buckets are cheap ($5, $8 or $12), but the range closes about 4 hours before sunset on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Wolf Creek, then a quick nine. Don't pair Wolf Creek with another 18. Add Coyote Willows instead: a 9-hole par 35 by the river at $50 for nine, with online times running into the afternoon from October to December 2026. One reviewer walked two loops in just under 3.5 hours.

Falcon Ridge, then CasaBlanca twilight. The Hampton Inn & Suites Mesquite is 3 minutes from Falcon Ridge and 5 from CasaBlanca, so the two courses sit close together. Play Falcon Ridge in the morning, then CasaBlanca's $100 afternoon rate from about 1 pm.

A par-3 nine on the way down. Beaver Dam Lodge, across the line in Arizona, is nine par 3s (about 1,049 yards) under old cottonwoods, 39 minutes from downtown St. George. It's a warm-up or family nine, not a destination. There's no website or online booking, and the last dated review was March 2025, so call 928-347-2222 first.

The Terrace at Wolf Creek serves breakfast and lunch daily. If you play Oasis instead, the Grille Room does breakfast and lunch with a full bar; Conestoga has the 1880 Grille, but one reviewer found the kitchen closed at 1 pm on a Saturday, so check hours.

What a Mesquite day trip costs

Golf only, per player, using rates seen in October 2026. Many of these courses price dynamically, so expect your date to differ.

Wolf Creek, spring weekend peak$390–$420
Oasis Palmer + Canyons, fall 2026$190 + $130 = $320
Oasis Palmer + Canyons, Dec–Jan$155 + $105 = $260

Falcon Ridge morning + CasaBlanca afternoon, Oct 2026about $300
Wolf Creek + Coyote Willows nineWolf Creek rate + $50

Wolf Creek includes the cart. CasaBlanca and Palms showed the cart as included on their online tee sheet. If you need clubs, Oasis rents Srixon and Cleveland sets at $75 a day ($50 twilight), and the supply is limited, so call ahead. For Utah course prices to compare, see St. George green fees.

If you'd rather not drive home after 36 holes, Mesquite rooms are cheap: Virgin River Casino & Lodge was seen at about $40 to $130 a night with no resort fee, 3 minutes from Oasis.

When a Mesquite day trip makes sense

  • December to February: the best reason to go. Mesquite averages 61.7°F in January against 54.0°F in St. George (NOAA normals). Frosty mornings still happen, but the clock change means a Mesquite morning tee time already starts an hour later on your St. George body clock.
  • March to April and October to November: prime weather in both towns. Spring weekends are the hardest to book, and Wolf Creek's top rates fall in mid-March to early April.
  • September: skip it. In 2026 Wolf Creek closed August 30 to October 2, Conestoga September 1 to 30, Oasis Canyons September 2 to 30, Falcon Ridge September 7 to October 3 and Oasis Palmer September 14 to October 6. Coyote Willows may stay open, so call 702-345-3222.
  • June to August: Mesquite averages about 104 to 109°F. Only dawn tee times make sense, though Conestoga's summer rate is the cheapest way onto a ranked Mesquite course.
  • Event weeks: the Nevada Open at CasaBlanca (November 3 to 5, 2026) blocks tee sheets there, and the Mesquite Hot Air Balloon Festival was held January 23 to 25, 2026 at CasaBlanca Resort.
