Courses west to east: 5 Days, Two States: A St. George, Utah and Mesquite, Nevada Golf Itinerary from Las Vegas

The best 5-day St. George and Mesquite golf itinerary starts in Las Vegas, spends two nights in Mesquite, Nevada for Wolf Creek and the Oasis courses, then moves up I-15 to Washington, Utah for Sand Hollow in Hurricane and a canyon finale. Mesquite is about 1 hour 10 minutes from the Las Vegas airport, and St. George is roughly another 50 minutes past it, so you never backtrack.

This plan uses drive estimates from our map (routing-based, not GPS), green fees seen in October 2026, and the one detail that trips up most groups: Mesquite is on Pacific time, an hour behind Utah.

Why combine St. George and Mesquite

Las Vegas has the most flights and the cheapest rental cars. On one Calgary trip checked October 9, 2026, the Las Vegas fare beat flying into St. George by about CA$570 per person. Once you're driving I-15 anyway, Mesquite is right there.

The two areas also play differently. The Mesquite courses sit at about 1,550 to 1,860 feet and are warmer (January highs average about 62°F against 54°F in St. George). St. George's courses run from about 2,500 to 3,800 feet, with red rock, lava and cliff edges. For a deeper comparison, read St. George vs Mesquite golf.

The route: Las Vegas, Mesquite, then Washington County, Utah

The whole trip follows one road. From the Las Vegas airport, I-15 runs northeast to Mesquite (about 1 hour 10 minutes), then through a short scenic canyon in Arizona, the Virgin River Gorge, and into Utah's Washington County. That's about 2 hours from the airport to St. George in total.

This itinerary bases the Utah half in Washington, on the east side of St. George, because it puts Coral Canyon and Green Spring 7 minutes away and Sand Hollow in Hurricane 22 minutes away. It also shortens Day 3's drive up from Mesquite. If you'd rather sleep on the west side, near Ivins and Snow Canyon, swap in Black Desert or The Ledges on Days 4 and 5; our Ivins and Snow Canyon golf guide covers those.

Mesquite base: Eureka Casino Resort. Oasis is 4 minutes, Wolf Creek 6, Conestoga 10. Kayak's monthly averages ran about $110 to $195 a night, with Sunday nights averaging $88. Eureka says it has preferred access to Wolf Creek through a partnership.

St. George base: Best Western Plus Settlers Point in Washington. Coral Canyon and Green Spring are 7 minutes each, Sand Hollow 22, and it was seen at about $90 to $130 a night (October 2026 snapshots), with a free hot breakfast.

Day 1: Land, drive, play a twilight round in Mesquite

Pick up the car at the Las Vegas airport (rent round trip there; dropping in St. George often adds a one-way fee). Book a small SUV: two golf bags and suitcases rarely fit a compact trunk.

It's about 1 hour 10 minutes to Mesquite. Mesquite is on the same Pacific time as Las Vegas, so no clock change yet.

Two good afternoon options, both with tiered twilight pricing:

  • Falcon Ridge: plateau tees and big drops at a friendlier length (Black tees 6,303 rated yards, 70.9/135). October 2026 twilight was $125 from 1:40 pm, $110 from 2:40 and $92.50 from 3:40. The back-nine greens are new as of fall 2026, so expect firm, young surfaces.
  • Oasis Palmer: a short Arnold Palmer target course, $130 after about 1 pm in fall 2026. It's the friendlier of the two Oasis courses.

Twilight finishes aren't guaranteed. If your flight lands late, skip golf and check in.

Day 2: Wolf Creek

This is the round people drive from Las Vegas and St. George for. Wolf Creek is #5 in Nevada and #59 on Golf Digest's America's 100 Greatest Public Courses (2025-26). The par-5 12th drops nearly 100 feet from the tee, and the #2 tee box sits about 11 stories above the fairway.

Pick tees honestly. The Challenger tees play 6,785 rated yards at 74.4/147, with a 155 slope on the back nine. The Champions tees (6,153, 71.1/140) or Masters (5,683, 69.0/133) suit most players.

The club itself says rounds will most likely exceed five hours. Book a morning time and keep the afternoon free. Wolf Creek is foursomes only.

Price check: the 2025-26 rate page ran $200 (December 8 to January 14) to $420 (weekends, mid-March to early April 2026). Fall 2026 rates were not posted when checked. Read our Wolf Creek golf guide or the Wolf Creek course page first.

Optional: Coyote Willows, a $50 nine by the river 8 minutes from Eureka, for anyone who still wants to swing.

Day 3: One more Mesquite round, then cross into Utah

Play early, because you lose an hour on the drive north.

  • Conestoga (10 minutes): a Gary Panks design inside Sun City Mesquite, #20 in Nevada on Golf Digest's 2025 list. Public rates were $205 to $300 in fall 2026 peak (October 1 to November 21), dynamically priced, so book early in the 56-day window. Carts have no GPS, so bring a rangefinder.
  • Oasis Canyons (4 minutes): the harder Oasis course, with narrow canyon targets on the back nine. Same $190 morning rate as the Palmer in fall 2026.

Then drive to Washington, Utah: about 51 minutes from Eureka to Green Spring by our estimates. Add an hour to the clock when you cross into Utah.

Day 4: Sand Hollow in Hurricane

From Settlers Point it's about 22 minutes east to Sand Hollow in Hurricane, Golf Digest's #10 in Utah (2025-26). The cliff-edge stretch on 11 to 15 is the reason to go; miss right on those holes. Public times open 180 days out and spring weekday mornings showed $305 to $366, falling to $175 to $200 after about 3 pm. In winter the rate halves after about 1 pm.

After lunch, walk the 9-hole Links next door to make 27. Our Sand Hollow golf course guide and the Sand Hollow course page have hole notes. If you have a spare afternoon, Hurricane is also the side of Washington County closest to Zion National Park; see golf near Zion National Park.

Day 5: A Washington canyon round and the drive home

Both of these are 7 minutes from Settlers Point and near I-15:

  • Coral Canyon: about $135 in peak season (February to May and September to November, Sunday to Thursday). The front nine is the hard half (155 slope from the tips). Rounds can take close to 5 hours, so take the first tee time you can. The Coral Canyon course page has the tee table.
  • Green Spring: $50 to $90 depending on season and day, with cart. Bring extra balls for the canyon carries on 5 and 6.

Big spender? Swap in Black Desert in Ivins, 21 minutes from Settlers Point ($450 for non-guests in peak on the 2026 rate card).

Then it's about 2 hours to Las Vegas, and you gain back the hour. A morning round still leaves time for an evening flight.

What the golf costs

A rough green-fee budget per player, using rates seen in October 2026 for fall 2026 and spring 2027 dates. Rates change, and several of these courses price dynamically.

Day Round Fee seen
1Falcon Ridge twilight or Oasis Palmer afternoon$92.50–$130
2Wolf Creek (2025-26 calendar)$200–$420
3Conestoga or Oasis Canyons morning$190–$300
4Sand Hollow Championship (spring morning vs after ~3 pm)$175–$366
5Green Spring or Coral Canyon$50–$135

Add four nights of rooms. On the snapshots above, two nights at Eureka plus two at Settlers Point came to roughly $400 to $650 for the room, before any resort fee.

Clock and closure traps

Time zones. Every Mesquite tee time is Pacific; every St. George tee time is Mountain. When you book a Day 3 morning in Mesquite and a Day 4 morning in Utah from your phone at home, write both down in local time.

September overseed. Most of Mesquite closes for part of September. The 2026 dates:

Summer heat. Mesquite averages about 104 to 109°F from June to August. Conestoga's summer rate (June 22 to August 30, 2026) dropped to $80 to $120, but only dawn tee times make sense.

Questions golfers ask

How far is Mesquite from St. George, Utah for golf?

By our map estimates, downtown St. George is about 50 to 57 minutes from the Mesquite courses (Oasis 50, Wolf Creek 52, Conestoga 56). Mesquite is also about 1 hour 10 minutes from the Las Vegas airport, so it sits naturally on the way.

Is Mesquite on a different time zone from St. George?

Yes. Mesquite, Nevada is on Pacific time and St. George, Utah is on Mountain time, one hour ahead, all year. Tee times are local, so a 9:00 tee time in Mesquite is 10:00 on a St. George clock.

Should I do Mesquite or St. George first on a golf trip from Las Vegas?

If you fly into Las Vegas, do Mesquite first, since it's on the way. The drive north loses an hour to the time change; the drive back gains it, which helps on the last day.

When are the Mesquite golf courses closed for overseed?

Most close for part of September. In 2026 Wolf Creek was closed Aug 30 to Oct 2, Conestoga Sep 1 to 30, Oasis Canyons Sep 2 to 30, Falcon Ridge Sep 7 to Oct 3 and Oasis Palmer Sep 14 to Oct 6. Dates change yearly.

What does Wolf Creek cost to play?

On the official 2025-26 rate page, Wolf Creek ran $200 to $230 in winter, $330 in fall 2025 and $360 to $420 in spring 2026, with cart included. Fall 2026 and 2027 rates were not posted when checked in October 2026.

What are the best months for a St. George and Mesquite golf trip?

October after the overseed reopenings through November, and February through April. Mesquite averages about 72°F in November and 74°F in March; St. George about 64°F and 68°F. Spring weekends are the hardest to book.
