Palm Springs RV resorts for golfers: motorcoach resorts, hot springs parks and golf on site

Palm Springs RV resorts for golfers fall into three groups: Class A motorcoach resorts in Indio, two with golf of their own; hot springs parks in Desert Hot Springs with cheaper sites and a longer drive to golf; and a handful of parks in Palm Desert and Cathedral City close to the courses. Only a few publish monthly rates.

The Indio motorcoach resorts

Outdoor Resort Indio is a gated, Class A-only resort of 419 sites with its own 18-hole executive course, which a Newmar listing says is included with the stay. Other amenities listed are several pools and spas, including a four-lane lap pool, lighted pickleball and tennis, and a renovated clubhouse. The minimum stay is five nights. Lots are owner-held, so book through the resort rental office. Owners pay HOA dues of roughly $670 a month on resale listings, which explains the nightly rates. Par, yardage and cart fees for its course were not published.

Motorcoach Country Club is next door, with nine par-3 holes played twice from alternate tees for a par-54 round. Golf is free for lot owners and registered guests on nightly stays of 2 to 31 nights; the club does not say the public can play. Long stays go through owner leases, and a search summary of club rules says guests may stay up to 30 cumulative days per lease year. Old leases ran about $1,650 to $1,950 a month, over a decade ago, so ask.

From the Indio parks, the value public courses are minutes away: Big Rock at Indian Springs 3 minutes from Indian Wells RV Resort, Shadow Hills South 4 minutes from Shadow Hills RV Resort and Heritage Palms 5 minutes. PGA West and La Quinta are a short drive west. Avoid Coachella and Stagecoach weekends in April, when the festival grounds in Indio bring crowds and higher prices. Read Indio golf courses.

Palm Desert and Cathedral City parks

Emerald Desert RV Resort in north Palm Desert is a well-kept Sunland resort with an adults-only heated pool. Its 4-month rate for stays of 120 nights or more is discounted, but the amount is not shown; terms are a 25% deposit with 75% on arrival, and cancelling 14 or more days out costs $25. Third-party listings say it has preferred rates at local courses, naming Desert Springs and the Classic Club, but the resort's own offer page does not mention golf. Its old 9-hole course closed in 2007.

Outdoor Resort Palm Springs in Cathedral City, with 1,213 individually owned sites, has its own par-3 and executive golf, which listings describe as an 18-hole executive course by Ron Garl from 1985 plus a 9. Lots rent owner by owner. One listing says a $22-a-day resort fee covers golf for two per lot; another says guests play only with a member. Ask before you sign.

Palm Springs Oasis RV Resort is an Encore/Thousand Trails park whose guests get a discount at the Date Palm Country Club executive course next door, 5 minutes away. The discount amount was not published. Cathedral Canyon, a budget public 18, is 6 minutes from Oasis.

Desert Hot Springs hot springs parks

The north side has the cheapest sites and mineral pools. Sam's Family Spa has 175 RV sites, four non-chlorinated mineral pools and two resort wristbands with each site. Caliente Springs is a 55+ resort with four mineral pools; its rate covers up to four adults with full hookups. Catalina Spa includes electricity and water, per its listing.

The Sands RV & Golf Resort has its own 9-hole executive course, also sold to the public; a GolfNow walking rate of $19 was seen on one date. A 2024 reviewer worked out to about $20 a night on a 31-day stay. Mission Lakes, a full-length Ted Robinson course in Desert Hot Springs, showed a $34 hot deal with cart in August 2026.

The catch is distance and wind. Most valley courses are 20 to 40 minutes from these parks, and Desert Hot Springs can be windier than mid-valley because west winds funnel through the San Gorgonio Pass.

Borrego Springs and short stays

The Springs at Borrego is an RV resort with its own 9-hole course, about 111 minutes from downtown Palm Springs; see Borrego Springs golf. Lake Cahuilla, the county campground near PGA West, works for a short golf trip by RV but its 14-day limit rules it out for a winter.

Choosing among Palm Springs RV resorts for a golf winter

• Class A owners who want golf at the door: Outdoor Resort Indio or Motorcoach Country Club.
• Couples committing to four months: Emerald Desert, for the 120-night rate.
• Budget 55+ golfers: the Sands, with its own nine.
• Hot springs first, golf second: Sam's Family Spa or Caliente Springs.
• Walk to downtown Palm Springs: Happy Traveler.
