Tee-time booking windows: Naples winter golf: how a snowbird season of Southwest Florida golf works

Naples winter golf runs from November to April, with dry, mild weather (January highs near 75F, four or five rain days a month) and the year's highest green fees from January to March. The catch for snowbirds: most courses are private, so a season here is built on a handful of public courses, a pass or two, and the rental or resort routes into the clubs.

This guide explains how a snowbird season of golf works from Naples to Fort Myers and Cape Coral: the weather month by month, which courses a seasonal visitor can play, what passes cost, how tee-time windows shape your week, and the events that tighten everything in February and March. Prices were seen in November 2026 and change by season.

Quick facts

  • Season: November to April; peak January to March.
  • Weather: about 75-84F highs from January to April, 4 to 6 rain days a month at Naples.
  • Grass: bermuda all winter; almost no courses overseed, so no autumn overseed closures.
  • Access: most courses are private; plan around public courses, passes and rental golf.
  • Tee-time windows: often only 3 to 7 days for the public.
  • Time zone: Eastern, the same as Ontario, Quebec, Michigan, Ohio, New York and New England.

The honest truth: most winter golf here is private

Southwest Florida has well over 150 courses, but most are private, equity or bundled-golf communities where membership comes with the home. Only a few dozen take public tee times. For a snowbird, that leaves four routes:

  1. Public and semi-private courses, booked as a daily-fee golfer or on a pass.
  2. Rental golf: some communities pass a membership to seasonal tenants for a fee. See Naples golf community rentals.
  3. Resort guests: Tiburón for guests of the two Ritz-Carltons, LaPlaya Golf Club for LaPlaya guests, and the Rookery and Hammock Bay for JW Marriott Marco Island guests. These suit a week, not a season.
  4. A member's guest, if you know someone.

Courses that work as a snowbird home course

A home course for a winter should be close to your rental, publish fair rates and sell a pass. From the files:

  • Fort Myers Country Club and Eastwood: the city's two courses, $70 with cart before noon and $35 after 3 pm in November 2026, tax included. The city says new memberships are not being offered at this time, so you pay by the round.
  • Coral Oaks in Cape Coral: $90 with cart in January 2026 and the best pass menu on the board. See the Coral Oaks course guide.
  • Stoneybrook in Estero: public rates of $199 before noon from January to April, or an annual pass at $12,000 single, $20,000 couple, with 60-day booking. See the Stoneybrook course guide.
  • Eagle Lakes east of Naples: $89 to $109 in November-December 2026, $55 twilight from 2:30 pm, and a 24-round fall pass. See the Eagle Lakes course guide.
  • Hibiscus in East Naples: public only until spring 2027, then it closes to become a private club. Winter 2026-27 is the last snowbird season to use its Frequent Player Card (20% off).
  • ArrowHead in North Naples: one of the few true public courses up there, with memberships sold (prices not published). Reviewers note tee times packed at about 7-minute intervals in season.
  • Shell Point near the beaches: non-resident memberships at $6,125 single plus a $2,500 initiation; public 18-hole times start at 10 am.

Lely Resort's Flamingo Island and Mustang are the big public courses in East Naples, and renters at Lely's GreenLinks villas get preferred, discounted tee times.

Prices from club pages read November 3, 2026. Eagle Lakes's annual passes were sold out for 2026. Full details in golf passes in Naples and Fort Myers.

A pass pays off only if you play the course often. At Coral Oaks, the $2,090 season pass covers green fees for the year, so a snowbird who plays twice a week from January to March plays about 25 rounds and pays cart on each one. The 9-Month Play Pass is the opposite: it suits someone who arrives in the fall or stays into May, since it skips the peak months entirely.

How tee-time windows shape a winter week

Short booking windows mean a snowbird week runs on habits. The Fort Myers city courses open online tee times 7 days ahead on foreUP (by phone only one day ahead). Stoneybrook opens public times one week out, Shell Point 4 days and Babcock National 3 days, while Saltleaf opens 90 days ahead and Valencia 30 days online. In peak season the morning times go first, so set a reminder for the day each window opens. A sample rotation is in the snowbird golf schedule for Naples, and every booking system is listed in Naples tee times.

Events, traffic and short days

The winter calendar is busy. The LPGA's CME Group Tour Championship (November 19-22, 2026) and the Grant Thornton Invitational (December 11-13, 2026) close Tiburón's Gold course for their weeks, and the Chubb Classic (February 11-14, 2027) closes the Black. The Red Sox and Twins open spring training at home on February 19, 2027, filling Fort Myers and backing up Daniels Parkway. More in Naples golf events.

From January to April, I-75, US 41 and Daniels Parkway can add 15 to 45 minutes to a drive, so a base near your regular courses saves hours over a season. Sunset is around 5:40 pm in early December, which limits twilight golf early in the winter.

Setting up the season

Comparing winter towns? The Palm Springs winter golf for snowbirds guide covers a desert season with overseed closures, which Naples does not have.

Questions golfers ask

When is the winter golf season in Naples?

Roughly November to April, peaking January to March. Snowbirds and Canadian seasonal flights arrive through November, and Easter (March 28, 2027) is the traditional end of season for many. November and early December give the best weather before full peak pricing.

What is the weather like for winter golf in Naples?

Mild and dry. NOAA normals at Naples give January highs of about 75F with lows near 56F, rising to about 84F and 66F in April, with only 4 to 6 rain days a month. A cold front can bring a breezy day in the 60s or a 40s dawn for a day or two.

Can snowbirds play the private clubs in Naples?

Mostly not, unless you rent inside one. Most of the 150-plus courses here are private or bundled-golf communities. Some pass golf to seasonal renters for a fee, and the resort courses at Tiburón, LaPlaya and the Rookery take guests of their hotels.

Do Naples courses overseed in winter?

Almost none do. Southwest Florida courses are bermudagrass that keeps growing all year, with slower growth and some off-colour after cold fronts in January and February. The maintenance closures come in summer, not autumn.

What is the best golf pass for a Naples winter?

It depends on how often you play and where you stay. Coral Oaks in Cape Coral sold an annual season pass for $2,090 single (cart extra), Eagle Lakes a 24-round fall pass for $1,200 plus $25 cart per round, and Stoneybrook an annual pass for $12,000 single with no cart fees.

How far ahead can I book tee times in season?

Not very far at most public courses. The Fort Myers city courses open 7 days ahead online, Stoneybrook one week, Shell Point 4 days and Babcock National 3 days. Saltleaf is the exception at 90 days.

What are the busiest weeks of the Naples winter?

February and March. The Chubb Classic (February 11-14, 2027), Red Sox and Twins spring training from February 19, art fairs, spring breaks and Canadian March break overlap, so tee times, rooms and roads are tightest then.
