Las Vegas golf overseed season runs from late August to early October, when most courses seed ryegrass over dormant bermuda and close or play temporary greens for two to three weeks. In 2026, Angel Park Palm went first (August 24), Chimera and Golf Summerlin closed September 8, and the Legacy was last back, on October 3, cart-path only.
This guide sets out the Las Vegas golf overseed course by course, with the 2026 dates our files captured, the courses that skip it, and how to plan a late-summer or fall trip around it. Dates come from club sites, GolfNow and GolfZoo listings; many courses did not publish theirs.

How the overseed works
Most Las Vegas courses are bermudagrass, which goes dormant and tan in winter. Nearly every resort and daily-fee course overseeds fairways, tees and green surrounds with ryegrass each fall, so they play green from about October to May. The process has three stages:
- Prep: scalping and aerification, sometimes with the course still open (the Legacy prepped September 1-13).
- Closure: about two to three weeks while the seed takes.
- Grow-in: about 10 to 14 days of cart-path-only play and slower or temporary greens.
Multi-course facilities usually stagger the work so one course stays open, as the Revere did with Lexington and Concord. In spring, the rye dies back as the bermuda wakes in May and June.
Courses that skip or limit the overseed
Siena, a daily-fee course in the Siena 55+ community in Summerlin South, does no traditional September overseed, per Golf Zoo; its 2026 aerification ran August 24-25. That makes it the safest September booking in our files. GolfNow sold a September 25, 2026 tee time there at $225.99. See the Siena course guide.
Reflection Bay says it overseeds only its tee boxes. Its paspalum fairways are not overseeded, so they stay playable through the fall but turn firm and tan in winter cold snaps rather than green. See the Reflection Bay course guide.
Angel Park has two 18s, and the Palm closed early (August 24 to September 4). Our files have no 2026 date for the Mountain course, so ask whether it was open while the Palm grew in.
Early and late reopeners
Chimera, the former Tuscany Golf Club, is one of the first east-side courses back on rye, reopening September 24, 2026. See the Chimera course guide. The three Golf Summerlin courses were back on September 29. The Revere's overseed alerts ran to October 2, and the Legacy reopened October 3 on cart paths. By mid-October, every course with a published 2026 date was back.
What overseed play looks like
If you do play during or just after the overseed, expect some or all of these:
- Cart-path-only rounds for about 10 to 14 days after reopening.
- Slower or temporary greens while the new grass establishes.
- Practice areas closed too: Chimera shut its range and pro shop along with the course from September 8 to 23, 2026.
- Prep days before the closure: the Legacy's September 1-13 prep came before its full closure.
Ask three questions when booking a September or early-October tee time: is the course open on my date, are greens temporary or full, and is it cart-path only?
The spring transition
The overseed has a second, quieter phase. In May and June the rye dies back as the bermuda wakes. Courses also aerate in spring: Coyote Springs aerated its greens on May 12-13, 2026 and sold discounted rates for two weeks afterwards. Late May and June trips should check for aeration dates the same way fall trips check for overseed.
Planning a trip around the overseed
September is the riskiest month for a Las Vegas golf trip. NOAA normals give a September high of 94.9F with about 8 days over 100F, and many courses are closed or recovering. Some practical rules:
- Early September: book Siena, Chimera (before September 8) or Golf Summerlin (before September 8), and check every other course.
- Mid to late September: Angel Park Palm (cart-path only to September 19), Siena, then Chimera from September 24 and Golf Summerlin from September 29.
- Early October: the Legacy and the Revere are back but recovering; expect cart-path-only days.
- Mid-October onward: fresh rye and the fall peak, at top green fees.
Prices do not always drop during the overseed. GolfNow showed the Revere at $89.99 to $156.99 on overseed-alert dates from September 22 to October 2, 2026, slightly above its $83.99 to $148.99 October range. The Legacy's cheapest Hot Deals, $24.99 in August and $26.99 in early September, came before its closure.

The overseed in nearby golf towns
Other desert towns follow the same pattern on their own dates. See Mesquite's September overseed, the Laughlin golf overseed, the Phoenix golf overseed and the Palm Springs golf overseed.
Plan it on the map
Open the Las Vegas golf map to see each course's Las Vegas golf overseed notes beside its drive time. The $49 plan only books courses on days they are open, so a September or early-October trip routes around the closures.

Questions golfers ask
When do Las Vegas golf courses overseed?
Mostly between late August and early October, with closures of about two to three weeks followed by 10 to 14 days of cart-path-only play and slower or temporary greens. The 2026 examples in our files ran from Angel Park Palm's August 24 start to the Legacy's October 3 reopening, earlier than the mid-September to late-October window often quoted.
Which Las Vegas courses do not overseed?
Siena does no traditional September overseed, per Golf Zoo; its 2026 aerification was August 24-25. Reflection Bay overseeds only its tee boxes, so its paspalum fairways stay unseeded and go firm and tan in cold snaps.
Is September a good month for a Las Vegas golf trip?
It is the riskiest month. Early September still averages about 95F, and many courses are closed or on temporary greens for part of the month. If you go, pick courses with published reopening dates or ones that skip the overseed, such as Siena.
When does Chimera overseed?
In 2026 Chimera closed its course, pro shop and range from September 8 to 23 and reopened on September 24, per the club site. That makes it one of the first east-side courses back on rye.
Do the Golf Summerlin courses close for overseed?
Yes. All three, Highland Falls, Palm Valley and Eagle Crest, closed on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 and reopened on Tuesday, September 29, per golfsummerlin.com.
Are tee times cheaper during the overseed?
Not always. At the Revere, GolfNow showed $89.99 to $156.99 on tee times with overseed alerts from September 22 to October 2, 2026, against $83.99 to $148.99 in October. The Legacy's cheapest rates, $24.99 to $26.99, came in August and early September before it closed.
Why do Las Vegas courses overseed at all?
Most Las Vegas courses are bermudagrass, which goes dormant and tan in winter. Overseeding fairways, tees and green surrounds with ryegrass each fall keeps them green from about October to May. The rye then dies back as the bermuda wakes in May and June.
