Drawn hole routing: How a Las Vegas golf trip fits together

A Las Vegas golf trip works best when you pick the season first, then the area, then the base. Spring and fall are peak; summer is cheapest and very hot. Most courses close for overseed for a few weeks between late August and October. The Strip suits Shadow Creek and Wynn golf; Henderson and Summerlin put you closer to most tee times.

This guide explains how the pieces fit: where the courses are, when to go, how overseed and events change your dates, where to sleep, and what resort fees and parking add. Drive times are free-flow estimates from our map. Fees and resort fees were seen in 2026 and change often.

Quick facts

  • Peak seasons: March to May and October to mid-November, with the highest green fees.
  • Cheapest: June to September (dawn tee times) and, among the cool months, December to February.
  • Overseed: most courses close or play temporary greens for two to three weeks between late August and October.
  • Courses a visitor can play: 33 on our map, plus Coyote Springs and Pahrump's Mountain Falls.
  • Resort fees: about $51-$62 a night at most Strip hotels in November 2026 (ResortFeeChecker).
  • Airport: Harry Reid International (LAS), about 3 miles from the Strip.
  • Time zone: Pacific with daylight saving.

Where the courses are on a Las Vegas golf trip

The valley splits into five golf areas. Times are from the Strip at Flamingo Rd.

Area Courses Drive from Strip
Strip and centralWynn Golf Club, Bali Hai, Las Vegas National, Las Vegas Golf Club7-14 min
HendersonSerket, The Legacy, Wildhorse, the Revere, Chimera, Desert Willow19-28 min
Lake Las Vegas and Boulder CityReflection Bay, Cascata, Boulder Creek, Boulder City Golf Course33-41 min
Summerlin and westTPC Las Vegas, Angel Park, the Arroyo, Siena, Golf Summerlin (Highland Falls, Palm Valley, Eagle Crest), Rhodes Ranch18-25 min
North and northwestShadow Creek, Painted Desert, Durango Hills, Aliante, the Paiute courses21-38 min

On a three or four day Las Vegas golf trip, plan one marquee round and fill the rest from one or two areas. Cascata and Serket pair well on the Henderson side (see the Cascata course guide), TPC Las Vegas and Angel Park Mountain on the west side (see the TPC Las Vegas course guide), and the Paiute Wolf, Snow Mountain and Sun Mountain share one resort up US-95, an easy 36-hole day. The full list is in Las Vegas golf courses.

When to go

Months Highs (NOAA normal) What it means for golf
Mar-May71F, 79F, 89FSpring peak: top fees, busy tee sheets
Jun-Aug99F, 105F, 103FCheapest fees; dawn tee times only
Sep95FOverseed closures at most courses
Oct-Nov81F, 67FFall peak on fresh rye
Dec-Feb57F, 59F, 63FCheaper; frost delays on early times

Normals are for the airport, 1991-2020. Higher courses in Summerlin, Anthem and Boulder City can run colder at dawn. In December there are about five nights a year below freezing at the airport, so frost delays are common on the first tee times. Sunset is about 4:30 pm by mid-November. Overseed: the fall gap

Nearly every Las Vegas course is bermuda overseeded with rye. Each fall it closes or plays temporary greens for two to three weeks, then runs cart-path-only for 10 to 14 days while the rye grows in. Dates seen for 2026:

  • Chimera: closed September 8-23, reopened September 24.
  • The Legacy: closed September 14 to October 2, reopened October 3 cart-path-only.
  • Golf Summerlin (all three courses): closed September 8, reopened September 29.
  • The Revere Lexington and Concord: GolfNow showed overseed alerts on September 22 to October 2 times.

Siena skips a traditional September overseed, and Reflection Bay overseeds only its tees. Many courses, including Wynn, Bali Hai and TPC Las Vegas, had no 2026 dates in our research, so ask before a September or early-October trip.

Events that move hotel prices

Strip room rates swing more with conventions and events than with golf season:

  • SEMA Show: November 3-6, 2026
  • Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix: November 19-21, 2026, with road closures around the Strip
  • National Finals Rodeo: December 3-12, 2026
  • New Year's Eve
  • CES: January 6-9, 2027
  • NAB Show: April 3-7, 2027
  • EDC: May 14-16 and 21-23, 2027

Sunday to Thursday stays are usually the value play, and Henderson and Summerlin are less exposed to convention spikes. Wynn Golf Club's fee also rises during the holidays and Grand Prix week.

Picking a base

  • The Strip: needed for Shadow Creek (MGM Resorts hotel guests only, $1,250 in 2026, with a limousine from your hotel) and best for Wynn Golf Club, where Wynn and Encore guests get priority. Bali Hai is 3 minutes from Mandalay Bay.
  • Henderson: Green Valley Ranch is 4 minutes from The Legacy, 10 from Serket and 12 from the Revere, with a $51.30 resort fee.
  • Summerlin: Red Rock Casino Resort is 4 minutes from the Arroyo and 7 from TPC Las Vegas, but its resort fee was $62.15.
  • Lake Las Vegas: the Hilton is a Reflection Bay stay-and-play partner, 3 minutes away, with a $32.77 resort fee.

Getting there and around

Harry Reid International is the only airline airport, about 3 miles from the Strip. Rental cars are at a consolidated center about 3 miles away by shuttle bus. A common pattern for a Strip-based group is ride-hail to the hotel and a car only on golf days; for Henderson, Summerlin, Boulder City or the Paiute courses a car is the practical choice. Los Angeles is about 4 hours 53 minutes by road in free-flow traffic, and I-15 is slow on Friday inbound and Sunday outbound on event weekends. See flights to Las Vegas for golf.

Budget lines a Las Vegas golf trip adds

  • Forecaddie tips: Cascata suggests $40 per player.
  • Caddie fees and tips at Shadow Creek and Wynn.
  • Resort fee and parking per night.
  • Cancellation rules: the Revere charges if you cancel inside 72 hours, and Reflection Bay and the Paiute courses inside 48 hours.

A full budget is in Las Vegas golf trip cost, and a sample schedule is in the Las Vegas golf trip itinerary. Adding a second leg? Mesquite is about 80 miles up I-15; see Las Vegas to Mesquite golf.

Questions golfers ask

When is the best time for a Las Vegas golf trip?

Spring (March to May) and fall (October to mid-November) are the peak golf seasons, with the highest green fees. NOAA normals put April highs about 79F and November about 67F. December to February is cooler and cheaper, and June to September is very hot but the cheapest.

Should we stay on the Strip or in Henderson for golf?

Stay on the Strip if you want Shadow Creek or Wynn Golf Club, or if the nightlife is the point; most courses are 20-35 minutes away. Henderson puts you 4-12 minutes from The Legacy, Serket and the Revere from Green Valley Ranch, with lower resort fees at many hotels. Summerlin suits a trip built around TPC Las Vegas, Angel Park and the Arroyo.

Do Las Vegas golf courses close in the fall?

Most overseed bermuda with rye and close or play temporary greens for two to three weeks between late August and October, then run cart-path-only for 10-14 days. In 2026 Chimera closed September 8-23, The Legacy September 14 to October 2, and the Golf Summerlin courses September 8-28. Siena skips a traditional September overseed.

How much are resort fees in Las Vegas?

ResortFeeChecker listed Bellagio, Aria, Wynn, Encore and the Venetian at about $62.36 a night with tax in November 2026, MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay at $56.69, and New York-New York, Luxor and Excalibur at $51.02. Hilton Lake Las Vegas was $32.77 and South Point $33. Many Strip hotels also charge for parking.

Do we need a rental car for a Las Vegas golf trip?

Not for Strip golf: Bali Hai and Wynn Golf Club are about 7 minutes from the Strip at Flamingo Rd, and Shadow Creek includes a limousine from your MGM hotel. For Henderson, Summerlin, Boulder City or the Paiute courses, a car is the practical choice. Rental cars are at a consolidated center about 3 miles from the airport, reached by shuttle bus.

What events push up Las Vegas hotel prices?

The big ones are SEMA (Nov 3-6, 2026), the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix (Nov 19-21, 2026), the National Finals Rodeo (Dec 3-12, 2026), New Year's Eve, CES (Jan 6-9, 2027) and NAB (Apr 3-7, 2027). Friday and Saturday nights are routinely the most expensive of the week.

What time zone is Las Vegas in?

Pacific time with daylight saving, the same as California all year. Arizona stays on Mountain Standard Time, so it is an hour ahead of Las Vegas in winter. Alberta and Utah are one hour ahead all year.
