Drawn hole routing: Las Vegas to Mesquite for golf: flying into LAS, the I-15 drive and the shuttle

For a Las Vegas to Mesquite golf trip, fly into Harry Reid International (LAS), pick up a rental car and drive about 90 miles north on I-15. Router estimates put it at about 97 minutes with no traffic, and many drivers do it faster at the posted 70 to 75 mph. Without a car, the Salt Lake Express shuttle runs from LAS Terminal 1 to Mesquite in 1 hour 25 minutes for $33 to $41 one-way (seen October 2026).

This guide covers the airport, the drive, the shuttle, a golf stop on the way, and when flying into St. George makes more sense. Flying from Alberta? The Calgary to Mesquite golf trip guide covers flights to LAS and the drive down I-15.

Flying into Las Vegas for Mesquite golf

Harry Reid International is the usual gateway for a Mesquite golf trip. It has nonstops from most of the US and Canada on all the major and low-cost airlines, and fares are usually cheaper than St. George. Las Vegas is also on Pacific Time, the same clock as Mesquite, so there is nothing to adjust between landing and your first tee time.

All rental cars are at the off-airport Rent-A-Car Center, reached by a free shuttle bus from each terminal.

The drive: LAS to Mesquite on I-15

Route Distance Free-flow time
LAS Rent-A-Car Center to central Mesquite90.8 mi97 min (OSRM router)
Salt Lake Express shuttle, LAS Terminal 1 to Mesquite-1 hr 25 min scheduled
St. George Regional (SGU) to Mesquite42.2 mi54 min (OSRM router)

The OSRM figure works out to about 58 mph over 85 miles of I-15, which is conservative for this road. Neither figure includes traffic.

The route: take I-215 or surface streets to I-15 north, then about 80 miles of I-15 through the north Las Vegas valley, past Moapa and the Valley of Fire turnoff, to the Mesquite exits. The exits serve the casino hotels and most of the courses.

Things that slow it down:

  • Las Vegas rush hour. The urban stretch through the Spaghetti Bowl interchange with US-95 is the main delay on weekdays.
  • Friday and Sunday afternoons. I-15 between Las Vegas and Mesquite carries heavy traffic.
  • Big Las Vegas event weeks. CES (Jan 6 - 9, 2027), SEMA (Nov 3 - 6, 2026), the National Finals Rodeo (Dec 3 - 12, 2026), the Formula 1 race (Nov 19 - 21, 2026) and March college basketball all add traffic. The F1 race closes roads around the Strip, so allow extra time getting from LAS to I-15.
  • Holiday weekends. Memorial Day weekend (May 31, 2027) brings holiday traffic on I-15 between Las Vegas, Mesquite, St. George and Zion.

Services are sparse between the north valley and Mesquite. In summer, start with a full tank and water in the car.

The shuttle: Salt Lake Express

Salt Lake Express (also sold as St. George Express) runs a scheduled shuttle from LAS to Mesquite. What the schedule showed for a normal weekday, Tuesday, October 27, 2026:

Changes are free and tickets are refundable up to one hour before departure. Departures change by day and season, so check the operator before you book flights.

Pickup at LAS: Terminal 1, Zero Level, Courtesy Shuttle Zone.

Stops in Mesquite: CasaBlanca (950 W Mesquite Blvd) and Virgin River Casino & Lodge (100 E Pioneer Blvd). The operator lists the Virgin River stop, but its current status was not checked for this guide.

Visit Mesquite also lists St. George Shuttle (800-933-8320) serving the Eureka Casino; its current schedule and fare were not found. Private car transfers exist through booking sites, but no current prices were verified.

Golf without a car

The two shuttle stops are close to golf. From CasaBlanca, CasaBlanca Golf Club is on the property and Falcon Ridge is about 1.5 miles (5 minutes by road). From Virgin River, the two Oasis courses, Oasis Palmer and Oasis Canyons, are 0.9 miles (3 minutes), and Wolf Creek is 1.5 miles (5 minutes).

You will still need a ride to the course with your clubs. Visit Mesquite lists Mesquite Transportation Solutions (520 W Mesquite Blvd, 702-247-3226), which delivers cars, SUVs, vans and pickups in and around Mesquite. That can be a good fit for a group that shuttles in and wants one van for the week.

A golf stop on the way: Coyote Springs

Coyote Springs is a Jack Nicklaus Signature course ranked #11 in Nevada by Golf Digest, and it is just under an hour by Google Maps from both the Strip and Mesquite. If you are staying on the Strip and only want one round, see the Las Vegas golf day trip to Mesquite instead.

From Route Time
Center of the StripI-15 N, US-93 N, then NV-16856 min (Google); 65 min, 58.4 mi (OSRM)
Central MesquiteI-15 S, then NV-16854 min, 55.5 mi (Google); 69 min (OSRM)

The clubhouse is on NV-168, a short way east of the US-93 junction. From Las Vegas you take US-93 north and turn onto NV-168; from Mesquite you reach it on NV-168 from I-15 and never touch US-93.

That makes it a natural arrival-day or departure-day round: land, drive out, play, and continue to Mesquite. The club advises against relying on Uber or Lyft there, so this only works with a car. Fall 2026 GolfNow prices ran $123 to $214 with cart, and it is the one 18-hole course in the area that does not close for fall overseed. See the Coyote Springs day trip guide.

When to fly into St. George instead

St. George Regional (SGU) is closer to Mesquite, about 54 minutes and 42 miles by router. It has regional jets only: American Eagle (Dallas/Fort Worth, Phoenix), Delta Connection (Salt Lake City) and United Express (Denver, Los Angeles, seasonal Chicago O'Hare), per the route list as read October 2026. Rental cars are at the terminal, and Salt Lake Express also runs St. George to Mesquite (fares from about $20 one-way per its route page, date unclear).

SGU makes sense for a one-stop connection through Denver, Dallas, Phoenix or Salt Lake, or when your trip also includes St. George golf. Two things to know:

  • The drive runs south on I-15 through the Virgin River Gorge, a narrow, winding canyon with trucks and frequent lane work. Crashes or construction can back traffic up for an hour. Drive it in daylight if you can and check az511.gov.
  • The clock. SGU is on Mountain Time, one hour ahead of Mesquite all year.

For split trips, see the St. George map, our Mesquite and St. George golf itinerary and the 5-day St. George and Mesquite itinerary.

Mesquite Municipal Airport

Mesquite Municipal Airport (67L) has no scheduled flights. It is general aviation only, with no landing or tie-down fees and first-come overnight hangars, per Visit Mesquite.

Planning your Las Vegas to Mesquite golf arrival

  • Arriving afternoon or evening: drive up, check in, and book your first tee time for the next morning.
  • Arriving morning with a car: play Coyote Springs on the way.
  • Taking the shuttle: stay at CasaBlanca or Virgin River and start with CasaBlanca Golf Club, Oasis or Wolf Creek, then arrange a car or van for the rest.
  • Leaving: allow for I-15 traffic on Friday and Sunday afternoons and on Las Vegas event weeks.

For the rest of the plan, see the Mesquite golf trip guide, Mesquite golf hotels and the 3-day Mesquite golf itinerary.

Questions golfers ask

How far is Mesquite from the Las Vegas airport?

About 90 miles of mostly I-15. The OSRM router gives 90.8 miles and 97 minutes from the Harry Reid Rent-A-Car Center to central Mesquite with no traffic, and its I-15 speeds are conservative, so many drivers do it faster. Add time for Las Vegas rush hours and Friday or Sunday traffic.

Is there a shuttle from Las Vegas airport to Mesquite?

Yes. Salt Lake Express (also sold as St. George Express) runs from LAS Terminal 1 to Mesquite, stopping at CasaBlanca and Virgin River. On Tuesday, October 27, 2026 it showed 10 departures each way, 1 hour 25 minutes to CasaBlanca, $33-$41 one-way. Schedules change by day and season.

Do I need a car for a golf trip to Mesquite?

It helps. The courses are spread around town and across the Arizona line, and Coyote Springs is about an hour away with unreliable ride-hailing. Visit Mesquite lists Mesquite Transportation Solutions, which delivers cars, SUVs, vans and pickups in and around Mesquite.

Can I play golf on the way from Las Vegas to Mesquite?

Coyote Springs Golf Club, ranked #11 in Nevada by Golf Digest, is about 56 minutes from the Strip by Google Maps and about 54 minutes from Mesquite. It makes a good arrival or departure-day round if you have a car.

Should I fly into Las Vegas or St. George for Mesquite golf?

Las Vegas usually wins: far more flights and cheaper fares, and it is on the same Pacific clock as Mesquite. St. George Regional (SGU) is closer, about 54 minutes and 42 miles by router, but has regional jets only and is on Mountain Time.
