Fact box: Mesquite golf overseed season: which courses are open in September

Mesquite golf overseed season is September: most courses close one after another, for two to five weeks each. Using the 2026 dates (and 2025 dates for the two courses that never posted 2026 ones), there was a stretch of roughly September 14 to 26 with no 18-hole course in Mesquite open. If you want golf that month, go in the first week, wait for October, or drive an hour to Coyote Springs, which does not overseed at all.

Below is what each course did in 2026, what that means week by week, and how to plan around Mesquite golf overseed in September next year.

Why Mesquite golf courses close in September

Mesquite's courses are bermudagrass. Bermuda goes dormant and turns brown in winter, so every fall each course seeds ryegrass over it to stay green from October to May. The process follows the same pattern everywhere:

  • About 10 to 14 days before closing, the course cuts back water and may spray the bermuda to slow it down. Wolf Creek sprayed its turf into dormancy from Aug 25 to Sep 1, 2026.
  • The course closes, mows down hard, aerates, seeds, and keeps the seed wet until it takes.
  • It reopens, often cart-path-only for three to seven days.

So the overseed effect starts before the closure date (dry, stressed turf in late August) and runs past the reopening date (cart paths, thin grass in spots). Closures run two to five weeks, and courses stagger them so not everyone is shut at once. In practice the staggering still leaves a hole in mid-September.

2026 overseed closures, course by course

These are the stored dates for each course. Most are 2026 dates from the club itself; CasaBlanca and Palms are 2025 dates because neither published a 2026 schedule.

Course Closed Back open Notes
Wolf CreekAug 30 - Oct 2, 2026Oct 3Golf Zoo listed Aug 31 - Oct 1. Some holes may be cart-path-only in October.
ConestogaAug 30 or Sep 1 - Sep 30, 2026Oct 1The booking page said Aug 30; the course page and rate sheet said Sep 1.
Oasis CanyonsSep 2 - Sep 30, 2026Oct 1Golf Zoo listed cart-path-only Sep 30 - Oct 3.

CasaBlancaSep 8 - Sep 26, 2025Sep 27, cart-path-only to Oct 9 (2025)2026 dates never published.
PalmsSep 11 - Oct 2, 2025Oct 3 (2025)2026 dates not published, and sources conflict on whether it overseeded in 2026.
Oasis PalmerSep 14 - Oct 6, 2026Oct 7Cart-path-only may last 3 - 7 days after reopening.
Coyote Willows (9 holes)none published-One listing says it stays open through overseed.
Beaver Dam Lodge (9 par 3s)none published-2026 operation not confirmed; call first.
Coyote Springsdoes not overseedopenRye and bentgrass all year, about an hour away.

Two details matter. CasaBlanca's own golf page gives a Sep 6 close and Sep 26 reopening with no year attached, and an April 2026 third-party schedule guessed about Sep 8 to Oct 3 for both CasaBlanca and Palms, marked "TBD". For the Palms, the Arizona Golf Association's 2026 list shows the course as not overseeding at all. With sources that far apart, call the course before planning a September round there.

September week by week

Laying those dates on a calendar gives a rough picture of how the Mesquite golf overseed plays out across September. Treat it as a guide, since it mixes 2025 and 2026 schedules and every course resets its dates each year.

Sep 1 to 6. Wolf Creek and Conestoga are already closed, and Oasis Canyons closes on the 2nd. Falcon Ridge, CasaBlanca, Palms and Oasis Palmer are open. This is the last easy week of September golf, and it is still hot: the September normal high is about 100°F.

Sep 7 to 13. Falcon Ridge closes on the 7th, CasaBlanca around the 8th, and Palms around the 11th. That leaves Oasis Palmer, and from about Sep 11 to 13 it is the only 18-hole course in town.

Sep 14 to 26. Oasis Palmer closes on the 14th. On these dates no 18-hole course in Mesquite is open. Your options are Coyote Willows (if it really stays open), Beaver Dam Lodge (if it is operating), or the drive to Coyote Springs.

Sep 27 to 30. CasaBlanca reopened cart-path-only on Sep 27 in 2025. If it follows a similar pattern, it is the first course back.

Oct 1 to 7. Conestoga and Canyons return Oct 1, Wolf Creek and the Palms right after Oct 2, Falcon Ridge around Oct 4 and Palmer on Oct 7. Expect cart paths and grass still filling in for the first few days at each one. Our Mesquite golf in October guide picks up from here.

The Oasis trick for late September and early October

The two Oasis courses share a clubhouse but stagger their overseed. In 2026 Canyons closed Sep 2 and reopened Oct 1, while Palmer closed Sep 14 and reopened Oct 7. So in early September Palmer is open, and in the first week of October Canyons is open. If you are booking around the edges of overseed season, check both Oasis tee sheets before writing off a date.

Coyote Springs: the course that stays open

Coyote Springs is the one Mesquite-area course that skips Mesquite golf overseed in September entirely. Its fairways are perennial ryegrass all year with A-4 bentgrass greens, so there is no bermuda base to overseed, and the club says it does no fall greens aerification. Golf Digest ranks it #11 in Nevada. For how it stacks up against Mesquite's top course, see Wolf Creek vs Coyote Springs.

It is not close. Google Maps gave 54 minutes and 55.5 miles from central Mesquite via I-15 south and NV-168, and the OSRM router gives 69 minutes. The club advises against relying on Uber or Lyft out there, so drive yourself and fill the tank in Mesquite. Fall 2026 prices seen on GolfNow ran $123 to $214 with cart (most days about $140 to $190); September 2026 prices were not recorded, and rates change. There is also a $50 replay after a full-rate morning round if you want 36 holes. Our Coyote Springs day trip guide covers the drive and the course.

If you are flying into Las Vegas, Coyote Springs is also about 56 minutes from the Strip, so it can work as an arrival-day round. See Las Vegas to Mesquite golf for the routes.

The St. George option

St. George, Utah is about 40 to 45 minutes up I-15 and has its own course list and its own overseed calendar. Its dates were not checked for this guide, so look them up on the St. George map before counting on them. Remember St. George is always one hour ahead of Mesquite.

Late August and early October: the edges

Overseed effects reach past the closure dates on both ends.

  • Late August. Courses dry out their turf 10 to 14 days ahead of closing. Wolf Creek closed Aug 30 in 2026 and had sprayed into dormancy from Aug 25. Late-August golf is also about as hot as it gets, with an August normal high near 107°F.
  • First days back. Most courses reopen cart-path-only for three to seven days. CasaBlanca ran cart-path-only for about two weeks after reopening in 2025 (Sep 27 to Oct 9).
  • October aeration. Wolf Creek planned needle-tining of its greens in October and November 2026, dates to be announced.

None of that makes early October bad golf. The weather is far better (October normal high about 86°F) and the rye is new. Just ask the shop about cart rules and green conditions when you book.

Planning around Mesquite golf overseed in September

If your dates are fixed in September:

  1. First week of the month. Book Falcon Ridge, CasaBlanca, Palms and Oasis Palmer, and play at dawn. September highs start near 100°F.
  2. Mid-month (about Sep 14 to 26). Plan Coyote Springs days and treat Mesquite as a base, or move the trip.
  3. Last days of September. CasaBlanca is the most likely first course back, based on its 2025 pattern.
  4. Check every date. Courses change dates every year. Falcon Ridge's 2027 dates (Sep 7 to Oct 2, via Golf Zoo) were the only 2027 dates found as of October 23, 2026.

If your dates are flexible, the simple answer is to skip September. For the full year picture, read our best time to golf in Mesquite guide. For booking rules once the courses reopen, see Mesquite tee times booking windows.

Questions golfers ask

Are Mesquite golf courses closed in September?

Most of them, in turn. On the 2026 dates (2025 for CasaBlanca and Palms, which did not publish 2026 dates), every 18-hole course in Mesquite closed for two to five weeks between Aug 30 and Oct 6, and roughly Sep 14-26 had no 18-hole course in town open at all.

Which golf course near Mesquite stays open during overseed?

Coyote Springs Golf Club, about an hour away, does not overseed: it is ryegrass and bentgrass all year and says it has no fall greens aerification either. In Mesquite itself, the 9-hole Coyote Willows may stay open (one listing says so), and Beaver Dam Lodge has no published closure, though its 2026 operation is not confirmed.

When do Mesquite courses reopen after overseed?

In 2026 they came back between Oct 1 and Oct 7: Conestoga and Oasis Canyons on Oct 1, Wolf Creek after Oct 2, Falcon Ridge around Oct 4 and Oasis Palmer on Oct 7. Courses are often cart-path-only for three to seven days after they reopen.

Are the 2027 Mesquite overseed dates out yet?

Mostly not. As of October 23, 2026, the only 2027 dates found were Falcon Ridge's Sep 7 to Oct 2, listed by Golf Zoo rather than the club. Every course resets its dates each year, so check before you book.

Why do Mesquite courses overseed?

The courses are bermudagrass, which goes dormant and brown in winter. Each fall they seed ryegrass over it so the course stays green from October to May.
