Wolf Creek prices are from its official rate page and live booking engine; Coyote Springs prices are from the live GolfNow tee sheet, because the club's own engine could not be read. All were seen October 23, 2026, and rates change. Spring 2027 prices were not posted at either course.

The courses: canyon drama vs Nicklaus scale

Wolf Creek is all about elevation. Tees sit on ridges, the tee box on #2 is about 11 stories above the fairway (GolfPass), and #12 is a par 5 of about 560 yards from a tee with a drop of nearly 100 feet. #8 is a 248-yard par 3 wrapped by a creek and a waterfall, and #17 runs 562 yards down a chute to a peninsula green. Forced carries, blind shots and narrow landing areas are everywhere.

Coyote Springs is broader and quieter. It sits on rolling ground above the Pahranagat Wash with mountain views, and the fairways are wide. The defense is the greens: large, sloping and fast, with some pins on slopes, so reviewers advise leaving approaches below the hole. Water is in play on 11 holes and the bunkering is heavy, including the "Bear Tracks" bunkers on #11, a reachable par 5 for long hitters. #2, "Deuces Wild", is an uphill par 5 whose green the club compares to Augusta's, and #3, "The Flop", is an iron carry over water. Golf Digest notes uneven fairway lies and frequent valley wind; one May 2026 review reported 36 to 45 mph gusts.

From the very back, Coyote Springs is longer and rates higher. In the middle the two are close: Wolf Creek's Champions tees (6,153 yards) slope 140, against 139 for Coyote Springs' White tees (6,215 yards). Further forward Wolf Creek is much stiffer, with its Masters tees (5,683 yards) at 133 against 121 for Coyote Springs' Gold tees (5,705 yards), and Wolf Creek's back nine from the Challenger tees slopes 155. Unless you are a low single-digit player, the Blue or White tees are the sensible choice at Coyote Springs. The full ranking is in the hardest golf courses in Mesquite.

Which is better value?

Coyote Springs, easily. A fall 2026 weekday morning at Wolf Creek ($360) costs about the same as two rounds at Coyote Springs on a typical November day. In December and January the gap grows: Coyote Springs was a flat $119 on weekdays on GolfNow.

What the fee includes:

  • Wolf Creek: cart; a driving range with a Toptracer badge.
  • Coyote Springs: cart (with side coolers stocked with ice and water) and range balls. Its practice facility covers 19 to 22 acres, with 13 target greens and a 10,000 sq ft putting green.

Coyote Springs also has a $50 replay after a full-rate morning round (tee times 6:30 to 10:00 AM), which makes 36 holes there cheaper than 18 at Wolf Creek. Juniors 15 and under pay $40 with a paying adult. Nevada and Washington County, Utah residents get dynamic resident rates with ID.

What a day costs at each

Here is the Wolf Creek vs Coyote Springs math for one golfer on a weekday, using prices seen October 23, 2026 (before any tax; rates change):

Even with the drive, Coyote Springs is the cheaper day by a wide margin, and 36 holes there cost about $150 less than 18 at Wolf Creek. What Wolf Creek's extra money buys is the setting and a ranking that Coyote Springs doesn't quite match.

Getting there and the day around it

Wolf Creek is 7 minutes from downtown Mesquite, and 4 to 6 minutes from Masters Villas, Virgin River Casino & Lodge, Best Western Mesquite Inn and the Eureka Casino Resort. Coyote Springs is a day out: Google gave 54 minutes and 55.5 miles via I-15 south and NV-168, OSRM estimates 69 minutes, and the club says 45. There are no homes or hotels on site, and the club advises against relying on Uber or Lyft for the ride back. Fill the tank in Mesquite.

From the Las Vegas Strip, Coyote Springs is about 56 minutes (Google), against about 1 hour 23 minutes from the Strip to Mesquite on a Friday afternoon. That makes it the natural pick for a Las Vegas golf day trip.

Food: Wolf Creek's Terrace restaurant reopened after a remodel in early October 2026 and serves breakfast and lunch daily. Coyote Springs has Mitch's Bar & Grill (breakfast 7 to 11 AM, plus lunch and dinner) and a beverage cart; outside coolers are not allowed.

Both courses run on Pacific time, the same as Mesquite.

When to play each

  • September: only Coyote Springs. It has no overseed closure, while Wolf Creek closed August 30 to October 2, 2026. See the September overseed guide.
  • Winter: both, but Coyote Springs' $119 weekday rate is the bargain. Wolf Creek's 2026-27 winter rates were not posted; last season they were $200 to $230.
  • Mid-March to early April: Wolf Creek hit $420 on weekends in 2026. Coyote Springs' spring 2027 rates were not loaded yet.
  • Summer: Coyote Springs' replays from May 26 to August 31 must be off the course by 5 PM. Wolf Creek was $225 from May 20 to June 15, 2026.

Questions golfers ask

Which is better, Wolf Creek or Coyote Springs?

Golf Digest ranks Wolf Creek higher: #5 in Nevada and #59 on America's 100 Greatest Public Courses (2025-26), against #11 in Nevada for Coyote Springs. Wolf Creek is the more dramatic canyon course; Coyote Springs is a longer Jack Nicklaus design with wide fairways and fast bentgrass greens. Coyote Springs costs much less and is open in September, but it is about an hour from Mesquite.

How far is Coyote Springs from Mesquite?

Google Maps gave 54 minutes and 55.5 miles via I-15 south and NV-168 from central Mesquite on October 23, 2026. The OSRM router estimates 69 minutes, and the club says 45 minutes. It is about 56 minutes from the center of the Las Vegas Strip.

Is Coyote Springs cheaper than Wolf Creek?

Yes, by a lot. On GolfNow, Coyote Springs ran $123-$214 from late October to November 29, 2026, and a flat $119-$137 from November 30 to January 21, 2027. Wolf Creek's live engine showed $360 weekday and $390 weekend mornings for late October 2026 (all seen October 23, 2026).

Which is harder, Wolf Creek or Coyote Springs?

From the tips, Coyote Springs rates higher: 7,471 yards, 76.8/149, against Wolf Creek's 6,785 yards, 74.4/147. Further forward Wolf Creek is the stiffer test: its Masters tees (5,683 yards) slope 133, against 121 for Coyote Springs' Gold tees (5,705 yards), and its back nine slopes 155 from the Challenger tees.

It is not practical. If you want 36 holes, Coyote Springs' $50 replay after a full-rate morning round is the better plan.

Does Coyote Springs close for overseed?

No. Its tees, fairways and approaches are perennial ryegrass all year and the greens are bentgrass, so there is no fall overseed closure. That makes it the one 18-hole option in the Mesquite area through September, when Wolf Creek closed from August 30 to October 2, 2026.

Which is better for a Las Vegas golf day?

Coyote Springs. Google Maps gave 56 minutes from the center Strip, against about 1 hour 23 minutes from the Strip to Mesquite on a Friday afternoon. It is also the cheaper round.
