The best time to golf in Temecula is April and May, then late October and November. Spring brings highs of 72 to 75F and little rain; fall brings 74 to 83F with the wine harvest winding down. Both seasons carry peak green fees. Summer is cheapest but hot, and winter is cheap, mild and the wettest.
This guide goes month by month, with weather from the nearest NOAA station, what fees and crowds do and the caveats. Normals come from Fallbrook 5 NE, which sits closer to the coast than the Temecula valley floor, so it runs cooler in summer than Temecula, Murrieta and Hemet. Prices were seen in November 2026 and change.

Inland courses run warmer in summer and colder at dawn in winter than the table, but neither was quantified from a NOAA station. For the detail, see Temecula weather by month.
Which seasons are best for golf?
Spring, March to May. The peak. Highs of 70F in March, 72F in April and 75F in May, with rain tapering from 2 inches to under half an inch. The valley turns green as the vines bud. Fees are at peak and tee sheets are busy, with spring-break weekends crowded in wine country. May Gray, a low marine layer, can hold mornings under cloud, and courses usually keep spring rates into June. See Temecula golf in spring.
Fall, October and November. The second peak, at top green fees, with fall peak fees from about mid-October. October is about 83F and dry, with harvest winding down. November is about 74F with 1.15 inches of rain. Santa Ana winds are most common October through December. See Temecula golf in fall.
Winter, December to February. Highs of about 67F, lows of 46 to 47F and the wettest weather. Valley fog, frost on low ground and wet-day closures can delay or cancel early tee times. Green fees step down from the fall peak, wine country is quiet midweek, and this is the snowbird season. See Temecula golf in winter and Temecula winter golf for snowbirds.
Summer, June to August. Lowest green fees and hotel rates of the year, but highs of 81 to 89F at the station and warmer inland. June brings June Gloom marine-layer mornings, and summer rates begin at many courses. Play at dawn or twilight and carry water. See Temecula summer golf.
September. An awkward month. Still hot, with about 88F and 3.5 days over 100F, it is typically peak crush with busy wine weekends. Many courses begin fall aeration or overseeding, so check each before booking.
What do the best months cost?
Fees move with season and day, and few courses publish a seasonal table. These are the fees we saw:
| Course | Fee seen | Date |
|---|---|---|
| Journey at Pechanga | $215 public, $175 hotel guest | November 6, 2026 |
| Redhawk | prepaid $26 to $88 | Sep-Oct 2026 dates |
| The Legends | $48.99 to $73.99 prepaid with cart | November 6, 2026 |
| Soboba Springs | $100 Mon-Thu, $125 Fri-Sun | April 27, 2026 |
The seasonal pattern is more reliable than any single number. See Temecula golf rates for the full table and cheap golf in Temecula for the lowest.
When do wine crowds matter?
Wine-country lodging swings with weekends and festivals more than with golf seasons. Friday and Saturday nights from spring through harvest, April to October, are usually the most expensive, and Sunday to Thursday is the value play.
The calendar to watch:
- Valentine's and Presidents' Day weekends: fill wine-country hotels.
- Spring break: busy weekends in wine country.
- Balloon & Wine Festival: one aggregator lists June 19 to 21, 2027, but another says TBA, so it is unconfirmed until tvbwf.com posts dates.
- Harvest: roughly August through October, peaking in September.
- Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's: busy tee sheets, and Pechanga and wine-country hotels fill.

What about overseed, aeration and wind?
Most Temecula-area courses are bermudagrass or kikuyu that browns and slows in winter. Some overseed fairways and tees with ryegrass in fall, and nearly all aerate greens at least once a year, often September to October or in spring. Per-course 2026 dates were not read. Wet-weather closures and cart-path-only days are most common from December to March. Santa Ana winds run mostly from September through December. Journey, for instance, restricted carts to cart paths for November 1 to 30, 2026.
Which is the best time to golf in Temecula for your trip?
- For the best weather: April, May, or late October to November.
- For the lowest price: summer, if you can tee off early, or December to February.
- For a quiet stay: midweek in winter.
- For a long stay: November to March.

What is the best time to golf in Temecula by trip type?
The best time to golf in Temecula depends on who is going and what they care about.
A buddies golf trip. Spring or fall, Sunday to Thursday. The weather is the best of the year, and midweek keeps hotels and tee sheets calmer than Friday and Saturday, when wine-country weekends push both up.
A golf and wine couple. April and May for the green valley and the vines budding out, or October and November for the harvest tail. Book wine-country hotels early, because spring and fall weekends book out, and arrange a driver or tour for tastings.
A value-first trip. Summer for the lowest green fees and hotel rates of the year, with dawn and twilight tee times, or December to February for the cheapest of the cool months. Expect rain, fog or frost in winter.
A snowbird stay. November to March, with weekly rotations built around weekday rates. Allow for wet days from December to March.
A trip that avoids closures. Skip mid-September to October if you hate aeration, since many courses aerate or overseed then, and ask each course for its dates.
Whatever you pick, check the forecast a few days out and keep a flexible day. The best time to golf in Temecula is the time your group can actually get a tee time at a price it likes.

Questions golfers ask
What is the best month to golf in Temecula?
April is one of the best: about 72F, an inch of rain and mostly dry, though it is peak pricing. May is close, with about 75F, and late October and November bring cooler fall days. Spring and fall are the best golf, and also the busiest and priciest for hotels and wineries.
What is the cheapest time to golf in Temecula?
Summer has the lowest green fees and hotel rates of the year, but inland afternoons are hot, so play at dawn or twilight. Winter, December to February, is the cheapest of the cool months, with the trade-off of rain, fog and frost.
Is Temecula too hot to golf in summer?
At the Fallbrook station, July to September highs are about 87 to 89F with 10 to 14 days over 90F a month. The inland valley floor is warmer than that station, though by how much was not quantified. Book early morning or twilight tee times and carry water.
Does it rain a lot in Temecula in winter?
December to February is the wet season at the nearest station: 2.6 to 3.7 inches and 5 to 6 rain days a month. Wet days can close courses or make them cart-path-only. Spring is much drier, with 0.4 inches in May.
When is wine harvest, and does it affect golf?
Harvest runs roughly August through October, peaking in September, though that is general industry timing and not confirmed on an official source. Wineries and wine-country hotels are busy and pricey, and tee sheets near wine country are busier on Saturdays.
Are there Santa Ana winds in Temecula?
Yes, mostly from September through December, and occasionally in spring. They are hot, dry and gusty, raise fire danger and can close courses or bring smoke. They are a general Southern California pattern, not quantified from a local station.
When do courses overseed or aerate in Temecula?
Many aerate or overseed from mid-September into October, and nearly all aerate greens at least once a year, in fall or spring. We did not read per-course 2026 dates, so ask the course before booking.
