The Temecula events calendar for golfers comes down to five pressure points: the Balloon & Wine Festival (late spring, dates unconfirmed), harvest and crush from August to October, Thanksgiving, the December 24 to January 1 holiday stretch, and Santa Ana wind days from September to December. Each one tightens hotels more than tee sheets.
Everything below comes from our seasonal research, read November 6, 2026. Where a date is a guess, we say so.

Is the Balloon & Wine Festival a golf problem?
Only if you want a bed. The festival sits at Lake Skinner Regional Park, about 20 minutes from Old Town, and dawn balloon launches pull large crowds into the wine roads. The hotels around Rancho California Rd fill that weekend, and the road backs up.
The date is the problem. One aggregator lists June 19 to 21, 2027, with tickets of $35 to $250. A second listing last verified in April 2026 still says to be announced. The 2024 edition ran May 17 to 19 and the 2022 edition ran June 3 to 5, so the late-spring window moves from year to year. Do not book non-refundable rooms around a festival date until tvbwf.com posts it.
If the festival weekend does land inside your trip, base away from the wine strip. Journey at Pechanga and the Pechanga Resort Casino are an option, and our where to stay in Temecula for golf guide compares bases.
Harvest and crush: August to October
Harvest is the busiest wine season. Early white and sparkling grapes can start late in August, September is typically crush, and the harvest winds down in October. The research marks this timing as general industry knowledge, not confirmed on an official source.
For golfers the effect is on weekends. Wineries and Rancho California Rd are crowded, tasting-room waits are longer, wine-country room rates are high, and tee sheets near the wine roads are busier on Saturdays. September also brings fall aeration and overseeding at many courses, so confirm turf conditions with the pro shop. If you are pairing a round with a winery afternoon, read Temecula golf and wine first, and plan a driver, tour or ride service.
Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year
Thanksgiving falls on November 26, 2026 and November 25, 2027, at fall-peak green fees. The December 24 to January 1 stretch sees wine-country hotels and Pechanga fill, and golf runs at winter rates but with busy tee sheets around the holidays. Book a room before you book golf: Journey's booking window is only seven days per the resort page, so the room comes first and the tee time follows. For a quieter holiday round, the Legends at Temeku Hills is eight minutes from Old Town and priced well under the resort course. See the Legends course guide.
Santa Ana winds
Santa Ana winds are hot, dry, gusty offshore winds that arrive mostly from September to December and occasionally in spring. They raise fire danger and can close courses, delay tee times or bring smoke into the valley. The frequency was not quantified from a local station. Treat a Santa Ana forecast like a rain day: have a backup, and check with the pro shop the morning of your round. Redhawk sells prepaid GolfNow slots that are non-refundable, so read the cancellation terms before buying a slot on a windy week. More on the course in the Redhawk course guide.
Hotels follow weekends, not golf seasons
Wine-country lodging swings with weekends and festivals more than with golf seasons. Friday and Saturday nights from April to October are typically the most expensive, and Sunday to Thursday is the value play for golf groups. Pechanga and Pala follow casino event and concert weekends. Many resorts add a daily resort fee, covered in Temecula resort fees. We read no market rate data for this guide, so check dates before you commit.
Which month should you pick?
- Avoid crowds: midweek in January or February, or July.
- Best weather with fewer events: late October and November, outside Thanksgiving.
- Best spring weather: April, which is also busy. See Temecula golf in spring.
- Cheapest overall: winter midweek. See Temecula golf in winter.

How to check a date before you book
- Check the festival site (tvbwf.com) if your trip falls in May or June.
- Check whether your dates include Thanksgiving, Christmas to New Year, Valentine's weekend or Presidents' Day weekend, which fill wine-country hotels.
- Look at the hotel's own calendar. Pechanga and Pala follow casino event and concert weekends, so a quiet-looking week can still be priced high.
- Ask the pro shop whether a course has aeration, overseeding or a member event on your date. No per-course 2026 or 2027 aeration dates were found.
- Keep a Sunday-to-Thursday option open, because that is typically the value play.
What is not on this calendar
We did not find a Temecula golf tournament schedule, a winery festival list beyond the Balloon & Wine Festival, or a published list of concerts at Pechanga. If any of those matter to your trip, check the venue's own site. Where an event has no date in our files, we left it out rather than guess.
Plan it on the map
Open the Temecula golf map to see where the courses sit relative to the wine roads and the casino resorts, then put your dates in the $49 plan so the rounds avoid the busiest weekends.

Questions golfers ask
When is the Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival in 2027?
It is not confirmed. One aggregator lists June 19 to 21, 2027, with tickets from $35 to $250. Another listing, last verified April 6, 2026, still shows the date as to be announced. Past editions ran May 17 to 19, 2024 and June 3 to 5, 2022 at Lake Skinner Regional Park. Check tvbwf.com before you book.
Where is the Balloon & Wine Festival held?
At Lake Skinner Regional Park, a county park about 20 minutes from Old Town Temecula. Dawn balloon launches and wine tasting draw large crowds, and hotels and the wine roads (Rancho California Rd and Anza Rd) fill that weekend.
When is harvest season in Temecula?
Roughly August through October, peaking in September. That is general industry timing, not confirmed on an official Temecula Valley Winegrowers page. Early white and sparkling grapes can start late in August.
Do Temecula events affect golf tee times?
Yes, mostly by crowding rather than closing courses. Tee sheets near wine country are busier on Saturdays in harvest, holiday weeks are busy at the golf courses, and Santa Ana wind days can delay or close play.
Are there Temecula golf tournaments on the calendar?
None were found in the files behind this guide. Check each course's own site or the pro shop for member and charity events that take tee times off the sheet.
When are Temecula hotels most expensive?
Friday and Saturday nights from spring through harvest (April to October) are typically the priciest in wine country, and Sunday to Thursday is the value play. Pechanga rates follow casino event and concert weekends. No market rate data was read for this guide.
What is the quietest time to visit Temecula?
Midweek in winter. Vineyards are dormant, tasting rooms are quiet, and green fees step down from the fall peak. The cost is rain, valley fog and short days.
