The best golf courses in St. George, Utah, by published rankings, are Black Desert in Ivins (No. 2 in Utah on Golf Digest's 2025-26 list), Entrada at Snow Canyon on the west side of St. George (No. 5, private) and Sand Hollow's Championship course in Hurricane (No. 10). Copper Rock in Hurricane (No. 15) and Coral Canyon in Washington round out the top tier. For value, Sunbrook and Green Spring give the most golf for under $100.
That's the short answer. The longer one depends on what you want from a round, so below we rank nine Southern Utah courses, say plainly who should skip each one, and show where they sit so you can build a trip around them.
How we ranked the best golf courses in St. George, Utah
We started with published rankings (Golf Digest Best in State, Golfweek and GolfPass Golfers' Choice), then checked each course's USGA tee ratings, the 2026 green fees, and what reviewers and panelists keep repeating. A course moved down if most visitors can't get on, or if the price is out of line with the conditioning reports.
Every fee below was seen in October 2026 and will change. Resort courses price by the day and the hour. For every course's rates side by side, see our St. George green fees comparison.
The ranking
1. Black Desert Resort (Ivins, 13 minutes from downtown)
Black Desert is Tom Weiskopf's final design, completed by his partner Phil Smith, with bentgrass corridors cut through black basalt lava under red cliffs. Golf Digest ranks it No. 2 in Utah and on its America's 100 Greatest Public list; Golfweek has it No. 1 in Utah and No. 34 among courses you can play in the US. It hosts the PGA TOUR every fall.
- Why it's here: the green fee includes a cart, a forecaddie, food and soft drinks at Oasis and Club 73, and the practice facility. The holes borrow from famous greens: No. 3 has a bunker in the middle of the green (a nod to Riviera No. 6), and No. 13's green sits on a lava-ringed knob inspired by Pebble Beach No. 14.
- Skip it if: you lose a lot of balls. Lava lines most holes, so a miss is usually gone.
- Cost: $325 to $450 for non-guests, $250 to $325 for resort guests (2026 card), so staying on site saves $75 to $125 a round. See the Black Desert course guide.
2. Sand Hollow Championship (Hurricane, 32 minutes)
Sand Hollow has been in Golf Digest's Utah top 10 since 2011 and made its America's 100 Greatest Public list at No. 96 for 2023-24. The front nine is flat red-rock desert. The back nine is the reason people fly in: No. 11 is a downhill par 3 to a butte-top green, No. 12 has a drop of about 100 feet down the left, and No. 15 can play up to about 230 yards over a ravine to a cliff-edge green.
- Why it's here: holes 11 to 15 are the most dramatic stretch of public golf in the area.
- Skip it if: conditioning matters more to you than views. Golf Digest panelists flag it as the weak spot.
- Cost: dynamic, from $75 (winter, after about 1 p.m.) to $366 (spring mornings). Details in the Sand Hollow course guide.
3. Entrada at Snow Canyon (west St. George, 12 minutes)
Entrada is a Johnny Miller course that David McLay Kidd stripped down and rebuilt in 2020-22: every green lowered and enlarged, every bunker replaced, fairways widened. Golf Digest named it Best Transformation of 2022 and ranks it No. 5 in Utah. The lava-field run on 15 to 17 is where cards come apart.
- Why it's not higher: it's private. You get on by staying at The Inn at Entrada, and no guest green fee is published.
- Tip: Kidd built it for the ground game, so land approaches short and let the slopes feed the ball.
4. Copper Rock (Hurricane, 36 minutes)
Copper Rock opened in 2020 and has the highest men's Course Rating in the area, 75.8 from the Copper tees (slope 146). It hosted the LPGA's Epson Tour event from 2021 to 2026 and is No. 15 on Golf Digest's 2025-26 Utah list. Holes 9 and 18 share a double green around a lake.
- Skip it if: you want polish for the price. 2025-26 GolfPass reviewers paid $200 to $295 and flagged conditioning, and the permanent clubhouse isn't built yet.
- Tip: reviewers say 15+ handicaps should move up a tee.
5. Coral Canyon (Washington, 17 minutes)
Coral Canyon is the hardest course on the Utah side by slope: 75.2/148 from the Black tees, with a front nine that slopes 155 on its own. GolfPass Golfers' Choice had it No. 9 in Utah in 2023 and 2024, and reviewers say conditioning has rebounded under new ownership.
- Why it ranks well: about $135 for 18 in peak season (secondary source, October 2026) is fair for a test this stiff, and the fairways are wide. More in the Coral Canyon course guide.
- Skip it if: forced carries into greens ruin your day.
6. The Ledges (north-west St. George, 15 minutes)
The Ledges is a Matt Dye design at about 3,800 feet. The front nine is open and flat; the back nine is on the red and white sandstone edge of Snow Canyon State Park. No. 15 is a drivable par 4 that GolfPass calls "perhaps the signature hole."
- Best move: play it after 2 p.m. In October 2026 mornings were $255 to $295 and afternoons $145 to $175, falling further later in the day.
7. Sunbrook (west St. George, 12 minutes)
Sunbrook is the city's 27-hole flagship, with water, lava and red-cinder bunkers. Woodbridge No. 4 is a par 3 from an elevated tee to an island green, and the Woodbridge/Blackrock pairing carries the highest slope (138 from the Blacks).
- Why it's here: $88 with a cart from October to May, $54 in summer. Nothing else on this list gives you this much variety for the money. See the Sunbrook course guide.
8. Green Spring (Washington, 12 minutes)
Green Spring earns its place with two holes: No. 5, "Bottomless Pit," a par 3 over a deep red-rock gorge, and No. 6, "Devil's Gulch," a long par 4 back across it. GolfPass had it No. 9 in Utah in 2022.
- Skip it if: you hate waiting. Locals say the canyon holes bottleneck.
9. Sky Mountain (Hurricane, 28 minutes)
Sky Mountain is a short city course on a mesa, with elevated tees and some of the best views in the county. No. 16 is a roughly 205-yard par 3 along a cliff side, and No. 17 has a fully blind tee shot over a ravine.
- Why it's here: about $68 to $88 with a cart, and it is the closest course to Zion National Park, about 20 minutes from Springdale according to a local newsletter.

Worth the drive: Wolf Creek in Mesquite
If you'll cross the state line, the list of the best golf courses near St. George gets one more name. Wolf Creek is No. 5 in Nevada and No. 59 on Golf Digest's America's 100 Greatest Public Courses for 2025-26, about 52 minutes down I-15 from downtown. Tees sit on ridges, No. 12 drops nearly 100 feet from tee to fairway, and the club itself warns rounds will most likely run past five hours. The 2025-26 rate card ran $200 in early winter to $420 on spring weekends. Mesquite is on Pacific time, an hour behind St. George. Our St. George vs Mesquite golf comparison covers the rest of that side.
A note on timing
The ranking doesn't help if the course is closed. Black Desert shuts mid-September to early October for its PGA TOUR event, and the city courses close in turn for overseed. Coral Canyon is the exception: it doesn't overseed. Check the St. George overseed schedule and the best time to golf in St. George before you lock in dates, and see the full list of St. George, Utah golf courses for the ones that didn't make this cut.
