Camelback Golf Club is the 36-hole club of the JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn, with the Ambiente course by Dana Fry and Jason Straka and the Padre by Arthur Hills, 13 minutes from Old Town Scottsdale. A resort stay is not required. As of November 2026, fees, tees and overseed dates were not published in the sources we read.

So this is an honest guide to Camelback Golf Club: what is confirmed, what to ask before you book, and the nearby courses where the details are known.

The club's website returned an error to our research on November 3, 2026, so the status above comes from the Google listing, not from the club. Both courses share one listing and one facility. See the Ambiente on the map, the Padre on the map and the Padre course guide.

What to ask before you book

Because so little is published, a two-minute call to 480-596-7050 saves surprises. Ask:

  1. Can the public book online, and how far ahead? Public booking was not confirmed.
  2. What are the green fees for your dates, and is a cart included?
  3. Is there a Camelback Inn guest rate or tee-time priority? None is published.
  4. When is each course closed for overseed? Most Valley multi-course clubs stagger closures so one course stays open, but Camelback's dates were not found.
  5. Which course suits your group? Neither course's tees or slope were captured.

For the Valley-wide booking picture, see Scottsdale tee times, and for fall closures the Phoenix golf overseed guide.

The JW Marriott Camelback Inn

JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa is a long-running casita resort under Camelback Mountain at 5402 E Lincoln Dr, with a spa and Marriott Bonvoy points.

  • Golf: Camelback Golf Club is the resort's club, a drive from the inn rather than a walk.
  • Guest perks: guest rates and tee-time priority are not published; call 480-596-7050.
  • Resort fee: not on the October 2026 ResortFeeChecker list; confirm at booking.
  • Room rates: not captured. Expect the highest from January to April, with WM Phoenix Open week (February 8-14, 2027) and spring training from February 19, 2027 the peak of the peak.
  • Best for: couples and groups who want a classic casita resort near Old Town.

The hotels closest to the course itself are the Grand Hyatt Scottsdale (5 minutes), Sonesta Suites Scottsdale Gainey Ranch (6 minutes) and Homewood Suites Phoenix/Scottsdale (6 minutes). See Scottsdale golf resorts.

The Scottsdale Silverado course is also 9 minutes from the inn, but its status is still to be confirmed, so call first.

If you want a sure thing nearby: the Biltmore courses have published starting prices and a rebuilt Estates course (reopened November 2023). See the Arizona Biltmore Golf Club guide and the Estates course guide.

If you want a value muni: Papago is 9 minutes from Old Town at 7,333 yards (74.7/129), seen from $109 in November 2026. See the Papago course guide.

If you want a quick, fun round: Mountain Shadows' par-3 course plays in under three hours under Camelback Mountain and suits non-golfer partners.

Planning a trip around Camelback Golf Club

Because fees and booking rules are not published, treat Camelback as a round to confirm, not one to build a trip on. A practical approach:

  • Book the sure rounds first. Lock in courses with published windows and prices, such as Kierland (public times up to 90 days ahead) or the Phoenix city courses (9 days out), then call Camelback for the open day.
  • Keep it central. Camelback is 13 minutes from Old Town, so it slots into a day without a long drive either side.
  • Watch fall dates. Overseed dates were not found, and most Valley courses close or play restricted for a few weeks between mid-September and early November.
  • Watch February. WM Phoenix Open week and spring training make February and March the hardest weeks to find any tee time.

Who Camelback Golf Club suits

  • Camelback Inn guests: the resort's own club, a short drive from the casitas, with no stay required for non-guests either.
  • Old Town and Paradise Valley bases: the club is closer to central hotels than the north Scottsdale desert courses.
  • Groups wanting 36 holes at one address: two 18s share one facility.
  • Not for: anyone who needs a confirmed price, tee data or booking window before committing; the courses near the inn listed above publish more.

Other stays on the Camelback corridor

None of these has golf on site, but all are central for Camelback Golf Club, the Phoenician and Mountain Shadows:

When to play

Phoenix Sky Harbor's normal highs run 76.5F in November, 66.2F in December, 67.6F in January and 78.1F in March, which is why January to April is peak golf. October to December and May are shoulder, and June to September is very hot with dawn tee times and the lowest rates. Overseed closures fall mostly between mid-September and early November.

Arizona stays on Mountain Standard Time all year. In January the sun rises about 7:32 AM and sets about 5:43 PM, so plan winter tee times before early afternoon if you want a full 18. For Canadian visitors, Alberta and Saskatchewan are one hour ahead of Phoenix all year, and Vancouver matches it. See the best time to golf in Scottsdale.

For a full list of what is open to visitors, read Scottsdale golf courses and McCormick Ranch golf, the public 36 ten minutes from the inn.
