One flag per course: Scottsdale golf courses: every course you can book, side by side

"Estimate" means a third-party tracker or directory, not the course. The Troon North and TPC Champions estimates come from a user-contributed tracker dated April 2026; the Boulders figure from a directory updated in 2024. Grayhawk adds a 5% water fee, and We-Ko-Pa's rates exclude 9% tax. "Call first" means the course shows on Google Maps as active but no 2026 course source confirmed it.

Scottsdale golf courses by area

Central Scottsdale and Paradise Valley. The closest rounds to Old Town are resort and short courses. The Phoenician is a short resort 18 under Camelback Mountain, Mountain Shadows is an all-par-3 course, and McCormick Ranch is a mid-priced public 36 partway through a regrassing project, with temporary rerouting possible while back-nine work continues. Scottsdale Country Club is public despite its name, with TrackMan range bays and a 12-hole Forrest Richardson short course. Camelback's two resort courses belong to the JW Marriott Camelback Inn; their booking rules could not be confirmed.

Talking Stick and Fort McDowell. These are the tribal courses, and the best value-for-quality in this list. Talking Stick, owned by the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, is wide, firm and walkable. We-Ko-Pa, owned by the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, has no houses on either course and charges the same fee for both. See the We-Ko-Pa Saguaro course guide and the Talking Stick O'odham course guide.

North Scottsdale. TPC, Grayhawk and Troon North are the marquee daily-fee names, and they price like it. Legend Trail and McDowell Mountain are the cheaper alternatives with loyalty cards for winter regulars. See the TPC Scottsdale Stadium course guide, the Troon North Monument course guide and our north Scottsdale golf guide.

Carefree, Cave Creek and Rio Verde. Boulders South is the resort round. Dove Valley Ranch is a forgiving Robert Trent Jones Jr. course, and Rancho Mañana is a short, hilly par 70. More in Carefree and Cave Creek golf.

None of these sell public tee times. You play them as a member's guest unless a route is named.

When Scottsdale golf courses close for overseed

Nearly every course here is bermuda overseeded with rye each fall. The 2026 closures from course records:

  • Troon North: Pinnacle closed September 20 to October 8; Monument October 4-24.
  • Grayhawk: Talon September 28 to October 11; Raptor October 12-29.
  • We-Ko-Pa: Cholla October 5-22, then cart path only to November 24; Saguaro October 12-29.
  • Talking Stick: O'odham closed September 27 to October 15; Piipaash October 19 to November 5, then cart path only to November 26.
  • TPC Scottsdale: dates not published; the Stadium normally closes in early October, when Phoenix Open build-out begins.

Many of the smaller Scottsdale golf courses publish no dates at all. Our Phoenix golf overseed guide tracks them all.

Beyond Scottsdale: the rest of the Valley

Phoenix proper has the best-known muni, Papago, 9 minutes from Old Town and showing GolfNow pricing from $109, plus the city courses on the Phoenix Golf Card; see Phoenix golf courses. Mesa has value daily-fee rounds such as Longbow, where Troon's site showed $50.15 to $59 for November 7, 2026, and the snowbird RV resorts; see Mesa golf courses. Chandler has the home-free Whirlwind Cattail at Wild Horse Pass. Farther out, The Wigwam Gold in Litchfield Park and Gold Canyon's Dinosaur Mountain are 42 and 54 minutes away.

Two former Scottsdale-area names need a call: Orange Tree's website now shows a domain-for-sale page, and Villa Monterey's website did not resolve, so neither is on our map. Tucson is the other big Arizona golf base; see Tucson vs Scottsdale golf.

Questions golfers ask

How many Scottsdale golf courses can visitors play?

More than 30 public and resort courses sit within 47 minutes of Old Town Scottsdale, counting Fort McDowell, Paradise Valley, Fountain Hills, Carefree and Cave Creek. Three of them (Continental, Coronado and Scottsdale Silverado) have their status confirmed only by a map listing, so call before you go. Greater Phoenix adds dozens more.

What is the most expensive golf course in Scottsdale?

TPC Scottsdale's Stadium Course. GolfNewsNet reported in February 2026 that its dynamic rates reached as high as $550 in the weeks after the WM Phoenix Open, with the lowest 2026 rate about $436 at that time. Rates drop from May, and summer is the cheapest season.

What is the cheapest public course near Old Town Scottsdale?

Talking Stick, 15 minutes away, showed a GolfNow hot deal of $26.99 with cart for the O'odham course on August 20, 2026. In season its rates are dynamic, and the $129 Talking Stick Card cuts them for anyone booking 3 days or less out. Papago, 9 minutes away in Phoenix, showed GolfNow pricing from $109.

Are Desert Mountain and Whisper Rock open to the public?

No. Desert Mountain is for members and their accompanied guests, and full golf membership requires owning property there. Whisper Rock has about 300 invitation-only members and publishes no public, stay or reciprocal access, so you play it only with a member.

Can hotel guests play the Boulders North Course?

Plan on the South. Since 2023 the North has been the members' course of The Boulders Club, and visitors play it as a member's guest. The resort sells non-member tee times, which is how visitors get on the South.

When are Scottsdale golf courses closed for overseed?

Mostly late September to early November. In 2026 Troon North Monument was closed October 4-24, Grayhawk Raptor October 12-29 and We-Ko-Pa Saguaro October 12-29, and Talking Stick's Piipaash course October 19 to November 5. Two-course clubs stagger their dates so one course stays open.

Which Scottsdale golf course is closest to Old Town?

The Phoenician Golf Club, 5 minutes away, sells public tee times through Troon. The Continental and Coronado executive courses are 3 and 4 minutes away but their status rests on a map listing only. McCormick Ranch's two public courses are 9 minutes away.
