Cover: Myrtle Beach golf weekend: three or four rounds in two nights

A Myrtle Beach golf weekend fits three rounds into two nights, or four with a Saturday afternoon replay. Base centrally, play Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday morning before you head home. Saturdays cost more, and the Dunes Club takes no unaccompanied guests on Fridays or Saturdays, so save your splurge for Sunday.

Below are four weekend plans, central, Dunes Club, North Strand and South Strand, with weekend rates and timing tips.

Quick facts

  • Rounds: three, or four with a Saturday replay.
  • Best base: central Myrtle Beach; North Myrtle Beach if you drive in from North Carolina.
  • Drive in: about 3 hours 45 minutes from Charlotte or Raleigh (free-flow).
  • Fly in: MYR, 9 minutes from the SkyWheel.
  • Saturday premium seen: about $10 to $20 a round at Wachesaw East and Blackmoor in November 2026.
  • Dunes Club: Sunday only for a weekend visitor.

Plan 1: the central Myrtle Beach golf weekend

Base at the Hampton Inn Broadway at the Beach, with free breakfast and parking and Broadway's restaurants a walk away. Drive times are free-flow from the hotel; fees are examples seen November 1, 2026 for fall 2026 dates.

When Course Drive Fee seen
Fri PMPine Lakes7 min$136 PM (package operator, Oct 5)
Sat AMKing's North19 min$152 AM (package operator, Nov 1)
Sat PM (optional)SouthCreeksame complex$70 PM (package operator, Sep 7, Labor Day)
Sun AMMyrtlewood Palmetto7 min$90 early AM (package operator, Oct 5)

That is $378 for three rounds or $448 for four at those rates. Pine Lakes is the 1927 "Granddaddy," a short par 70 with a grand clubhouse, ideal after a drive or flight. King's North is the marquee inland round, and SouthCreek, just over 6,400 yards, is the gentler second 18 at the same complex. Myrtlewood Palmetto finishes along the waterway, 7 minutes from the hotel, so Sunday checkout is easy.

Plan 2: a Sunday at the Dunes Club

The Dunes Golf and Beach Club is private. It sells a limited number of guest times, never to unaccompanied guests on Fridays, Saturdays or holiday weekends, so for a weekend visitor it is Sunday or nothing. Guest times show online only when members, events and maintenance leave room; if nothing appears, call 843-449-5914. No rack rate is published.

The dependable route is a package. Sea Watch Resort sells a Dunes Club Package: two or more nights, one round at the Dunes plus two rounds at other courses, with examples including Blackmoor, Aberdeen and Litchfield, plus green and cart fees and a daily breakfast voucher. It is priced by quote. Sea Watch is oceanfront, about 9 minutes from the Dunes.

Book the two other rounds for Friday and Saturday and the Dunes for Sunday morning. Note that the club closes on Mondays in winter and summer and to guests around the Myrtle Beach Classic in May. See the Dunes Club course guide and our guide to playing the Dunes Golf and Beach Club.

Plan 3: a North Strand drive-in weekend

Driving down from North Carolina or Virginia, SC 22 and SC 9 bring you into the North Strand without the US 501 crawl. Base at the Hampton Inn North Myrtle Beach-Harbourgate on the waterway, with free breakfast:

  • Friday PM: River Hills, 8 minutes. A package seller showed $79 for a September 7, 2026 afternoon. Fresh TifEagle greens (2022) and rebuilt bunkers (2023). See the River Hills course guide.
  • Saturday AM: Tidewater, 8 minutes, with marsh and inlet holes. Public rates are dynamic and not published; Chronogolf's undated averages were $118 weekday and $133 weekend.
  • Sunday AM: Glen Dornoch, 10 minutes, for its closing stretch along the Intracoastal. A package seller showed $148 for a September 16, 2026 morning; check recent reviews on conditions first.

For a fourth round, Thistle over the North Carolina line is 19 minutes from the hotel. Our North Myrtle Beach golf guide covers the area.

Plan 4: a South Strand weekend in Litchfield

For a quieter weekend, base at the Hampton Inn Pawleys Island - Litchfield, with free breakfast, a short walk from Willbrook. Four courses sit within 7 minutes:

  • Tradition Club, 4 minutes: a Ron Garl course, wide off the tee with demanding greens. A package seller showed $97 for an October 29, 2026 morning and $85 late in the day.
  • Willbrook Plantation, 6 minutes by car: the friendliest of the Litchfield-area courses, with few forced carries.
  • Litchfield, 7 minutes: an old-school, tree-lined Willard Byrd course. A package seller showed $83 for a September 18, 2026 morning.
  • River Club, 7 minutes: water on 15 holes, so bring extra balls.

The hotel is not cheap in spring (guest-reported stays averaged $258.89 a night in April 2026), so compare it with a golf condo. For a splurge round, True Blue is 9 minutes from the hotel and Caledonia 11. See our Pawleys Island golf guide.

What a weekend costs extra: weekday vs Saturday

Weekend demand shows up in the prices. These are from course tee sheets and GolfNow, seen November 1, 2026, carts included.

Barefoot's table covers the Love, Fazio, Norman and Dye courses. Afternoon times soften the weekend premium: Wachesaw East's after-2 rate was $72 on that Saturday against $67 on the Monday. At Prestwick, Saturday public times sold out on GolfNow for November 7, 2026, so book a weekend early. See the Wachesaw East course guide.

Weekend timing tips

  1. Leave early on Friday. Summer Saturdays are rental changeover day, with the worst traffic on US 501, US 17 and Ocean Boulevard. Add 20 to 60 minutes or more on those days.
  2. Fly into MYR. It is 9 minutes from the SkyWheel; Wilmington is about 117 minutes and Charleston 151.
  3. Skip event weekends. Memorial Day weekend (Atlantic Beach Bikefest) and Carolina Country Music Fest weekend (June 10-13, 2027) fill hotels.
  4. Check the cancellation rules. Barefoot needs 72 hours per foursome; GolfNow Hot Deals are prepaid.

Pawleys IslandCaledoniaPar 70 · Slope 138 · From $79 · 40 minThe South Strand's best-known public round: a short, beautiful Strantz par 70 under live oaks, finishing at the clubhouse porch. Not a long-hitter's test, and among the dearer tee times on the Strand in spring and fall; book it as the trip's splurge and pair it with True Blue.Pawleys IslandTrue BluePar 72 · Slope 138 · From $89 · 38 minStrantz's bigger, wilder sister to Caledonia: wide fairways, sand everywhere and greens with real movement. Pricing is dynamic, from about $85 in the afternoon to over $150 for fall weekend mornings.

Questions golfers ask

How many rounds can you fit into a Myrtle Beach golf weekend?

Three is comfortable and four is possible. Play Friday afternoon, Saturday morning (and a Saturday afternoon replay if the group is keen), and Sunday morning before the drive or flight home. A central base keeps every drive in this plan under 20 minutes.

Can I play the Dunes Club on a weekend?

Only on Sunday. The Dunes Golf and Beach Club does not take unaccompanied guests on Fridays, Saturdays or holiday weekends, and its guest times are limited. Sea Watch Resort sells a Dunes Club package of two or more nights with one Dunes round and two rounds elsewhere; plan the Dunes round for Sunday.

Are Saturday tee times more expensive in Myrtle Beach?

Usually. On course tee sheets seen November 1, 2026, Wachesaw East ran $86.50 to $90 on a Saturday morning against $69 to $76 on the Monday, and Blackmoor $86 against $74 to $77. Barefoot's walk-on table charges its top rate Thursday to Saturday and Sunday mornings.

What is the drive to Myrtle Beach for a weekend?

From Charlotte or Raleigh, about 3 hours 45 minutes on free-flow estimates to the SkyWheel; from Richmond about 6.5 hours. US 501 is the main and most congested entry road, especially on summer Saturdays, while SC 22 is the faster route to the North Strand.

Which airport for a Myrtle Beach golf weekend?

Myrtle Beach International (MYR), about 9 minutes from the SkyWheel. Its seasonal low-cost routes to the Northeast, Ohio Valley and upstate New York make a two-night trip practical, and a morning arrival leaves time for a Friday afternoon round.

What is the best base for a Myrtle Beach golf weekend?

Central Myrtle Beach for the widest choice: from the Hampton Inn Broadway at the Beach, Pine Lakes and Myrtlewood are 7 minutes and Myrtle Beach National 19. Driving in from North Carolina, the Hampton Inn North Myrtle Beach-Harbourgate puts Tidewater and River Hills 8 minutes away.
