One flag per course: Myrtle Beach buddies golf trip: villas, group tee times and the budget

A Myrtle Beach buddies golf trip works best from villas or condos, on multi-course properties, booked months ahead. Barefoot's two-bedroom villas are priced for four golfers, Kingston and the Breakers sell group deals and big villas, and Myrtle Beach National, Legends and Barefoot keep 12 or 16 players on one property. Avoid Memorial Day weekend.

This guide covers where to sleep a group, how group tee times and cancellations work, which courses suit a crowd, a budget and the nights out.

Quick facts

  • Group size: 8 to 20 golfers, in two-, three- or four-bedroom units.
  • Biggest group perk: Kingston's program, with 30% off rooms, up to 25% off tee times and resort and parking fees waived.
  • Free golfer: every 20th golfer free at Barefoot with 20 or more.
  • Group-friendly courses: Barefoot (4), Myrtle Beach National (3), Legends (3), Arrowhead (27 holes).
  • Deposits: $100 per person on Founders Group packages.
  • Avoid: Memorial Day weekend and World Am week.

Rates for all of these are by quote; check rates for your dates. A few package listings give a sense of scale: third-party Barefoot package listings showed $333 to $721 per person for four nights and four rounds, and from $505 for three nights and three rounds, valid through December 31, 2026, though the resort site itself shows prices only as dollar signs. Golfbreaks showed Legends packages from $505 including taxes and resort fees, nights and rounds not stated.

Two watch-outs. North Beach Plantation's units are privately owned and rented through more than one manager, so amenities and fees vary by booking. Barefoot's villas are on the waterway side, about 10 minutes from the ocean, and the package adds a 2% admin fee. Our Myrtle Beach golf condos guide compares more options.

Group tee times: the rules that matter

Book early. For spring and fall weekends, the Founders Group booking site advises booking as far ahead as possible, with a $100 per person deposit and the balance due 30 days before arrival.

Mind cancellations. Barefoot needs 72 hours' notice per foursome to cancel a tee time, and its packages are forfeited in full if cancelled within 30 days of arrival.

Avoid pairing. GolfNow Hot Deals are prepaid, and groups under four may be paired; book full foursomes.

Expect pinch points on busy days. Reviewers report cart shortages and course swaps among the three Legends courses on busy days, and cart shortages and delays at Glen Dornoch in March 2026. At Prestwick, members come first and public Saturdays sell out.

Our Myrtle Beach golf packages guide explains when a package beats booking direct.

Courses that suit a big group

Barefoot's four courses. The Love, Fazio, Norman and Dye share one rate table. Barefoot takes 25% off each round if you play all four, so a Barefoot-only trip costs less per round than mixing in one Barefoot course. Put the high handicaps on the Norman or Love and the low ones on the Dye. Our Barefoot Resort golf guide compares them.

Myrtle Beach National. King's North, SouthCreek and West share a complex. Founders Inclusive packages add lunch, two drinks and range balls, and four or more Founders rounds earn a $100 gift card.

Legends. Heathland, Moorland and Parkland make up the resort, with the villas around Parkland (5 minutes on the router) and Moorland 3 minutes away, plus the Ailsa Pub on site. Moorland is for low handicaps; Parkland is the most playable. See the Legends Parkland course guide.

Arrowhead. Twenty-seven holes on the waterway, played as three 18-hole combinations, a short hop from central Myrtle Beach. See the Arrowhead course guide.

Man O' War for the fun round. Island greens and lakeside holes all day: photogenic for a group, punishing for anyone who cannot carry water. A package seller listed it at $137 for October 16, 2026. See the Man O' War course guide.

A buddies trip budget

Green fees below were seen on November 1, 2026 for fall 2026 dates, carts included. Lodging is by quote, so add it to these.

Round type Examples Fee seen
ValueWachesaw East, Blackmoor$69-$77 (Nov 2 mornings, course online)
MidArrowhead$92-$99 (Nov 3, package seller listing)
PremiumBarefoot, King's Northfrom $175 walk-on (Barefoot); $152 AM (King's North, package operator, Nov 1)
SplurgeCaledonia$189 (package operator, Oct 4)

Four rounds mixing one of each tier come to about $500 to $540 per golfer at those rates, before any multi-round discount. Over the state line, the Big Cats fall special covered three rounds on its Ocean Ridge courses, including Tiger's Eye, for $252, through November 15, 2026. The full breakdown is in our Myrtle Beach golf trip cost guide.

Getting a group around

A car is essential: the Grand Strand runs about 60 miles from Little River to Pawleys Island and many courses sit inland. For a group, that usually means one vehicle per foursome with clubs. Golf package operators and some resorts arrange airport transfers or group vans, though no public shuttle schedule was verified. Uber and Lyft work for dinners in central Myrtle Beach or at Barefoot Landing, not for daily golf. On summer Saturdays and event weekends, add 20 to 60 minutes or more to drive estimates.

Nights out for a group

  • Barefoot Landing: Greg Norman's Australian Grille is the classic golf-group dinner, and Flying Fish is roomy and easy for big groups.
  • Restaurant Row: Benjamin's Calabash Buffet handles large groups without the reservation hassle; Thoroughbreds is the splurge.
  • Broadway at the Beach: Margaritaville is loud and easy for a crowd, and Topgolf is nearby.
  • The MarshWalk: a half-mile of seafood restaurants and bars in Murrells Inlet, with Dead Dog Saloon the party bar.

Dates to avoid

Memorial Day weekend brings Atlantic Beach Bikefest's very large crowds to North Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach. World Am week in late August blocks host-course tee times. Carolina Country Music Fest, June 10-13, 2027, fills central Myrtle Beach hotels. Summer Saturdays jam US 501 and US 17 at rental changeover. For a ready-made schedule, start from our Myrtle Beach golf trip itinerary. Comparing beach towns for the group? See the Destin buddies golf trip guide.
