Tee-time ticket: The Dunes Golf and Beach Club: who can play it and how to get on

The Dunes Golf and Beach Club is a private member club, but visitors can get on through a limited number of guest tee times, booked on the club's own engine, or through a Dunes Club package sold by some oceanfront resorts. Unaccompanied guests can never play on Fridays, Saturdays or holiday weekends, so plan the round for Sunday to Thursday.

The Dunes Club opened in 1948, the Grand Strand's second course, and was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. It hosts the PGA Tour's Myrtle Beach Classic, next on May 13-16, 2027. This guide explains every route on and what to play if you cannot get a time.

The club itself describes guest access as limited, and our course record says guest times are shrinking. An April 2026 club page reportedly said the board was reducing outside guest play, though we could not read that document directly. Book as early as you can.

How to book a guest tee time

  1. Pick Sunday to Thursday. Unaccompanied guests are barred on Fridays, Saturdays and holiday weekends, and the club closes Mondays for maintenance in winter and summer. In those seasons, Tuesday to Thursday and Sunday are the realistic days.
  2. Check the online engine. Guest times only show when the tee sheet is not taken by members, tournaments or maintenance.
  3. If nothing appears, call the guest line, 843-449-5914.
  4. Confirm directly with the club, whichever route you used.
  5. Avoid the Classic. Expect the course closed to guests during the Myrtle Beach Classic week, May 13-16, 2027, and around it for preparation.

No booking window is published. Read Myrtle Beach tee times for how other courses' windows work.

Dunes Club packages from oceanfront resorts

For a fly-in group, a resort package is the most reliable way to lock in a weekday Dunes round. Sea Watch Resort sells a Dunes Club Package: two or more nights, one round at the Dunes Club plus two rounds at other courses (examples given are Blackmoor, Aberdeen and Litchfield Country Club), green and cart fees and a daily breakfast voucher, with upgrades available. It is priced by quote, and Sea Watch is 9 minutes from the club.

Crown Reef (golf desk 843-353-2291) and Captain's Quarters (843-823-5943) sell the same style of package. Neither is on our map.

Two names mislead. Dunes Village Resort, a family water-park resort 9 minutes from the club, has no confirmed Dunes Club deal. The Marriott at Grande Dunes, also five minutes away, has no confirmed golf perks. See Myrtle Beach golf packages and oceanfront hotels for golfers.

The course

The Dunes Club is a parkland and lakes layout at the north end of Myrtle Beach, at 9000 North Ocean Boulevard. Only Pine Lakes, opened in 1927, is older on the Grand Strand. The club has about 800 members. Roger Rulewich worked on it in 2000 and Rees Jones in 2003 and 2013, but the club says the original Jones design is largely intact. The greens are Champion ultradwarf bermuda, per GolfPass.

Tee Yards Rating/slope
Gold7,37076.1/148
Blue6,61572.5/140
White6,16870.6/135
Green5,79068.3/130
Red (women)5,31071.6/132

The Gold tees' 148 slope is the highest of any course in Myrtle Beach proper, and most visiting groups will be happier on the White or Green tees. Our map's hole data shows the par-5 13th as the longest hole, at about 639 yards. Play Golf Myrtle Beach listed the Dunes Club among courses that overseed wall to wall with rye, rough included, in an undated article; closure dates are not published.

Building a trip around a Dunes Golf and Beach Club round

Treat the Dunes round as the fixed point and build the rest around it. Book the stay and the Dunes time first, for a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, then fill the other days. A central oceanfront base keeps the drives short: from Sea Watch, Arcadian Shores is 4 minutes, Grande Dunes Resort 10 and Barefoot Love 12. Pine Lakes is 10 minutes from the SkyWheel.

If your trip runs Friday to Sunday, the Dunes Club is effectively off the table unless a member takes you, because unaccompanied guests cannot play Friday, Saturday or holiday weekends. Shift the trip a day or two, or plan the Dunes round for the Sunday.

The Myrtle Beach Classic week

The ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic, a PGA Tour event, was played at the Dunes Club in 2026 and returns May 13-16, 2027. Expect the course closed to guests that week and preparation around it. May is busy on the Strand anyway: the spring Bike Week rally (May 8-17 in 2026; 2027 dates not published) and Memorial Day weekend, May 31 in 2027, both fill rooms and roads. If you want to watch the Classic, book rooms early; if you want to play the Dunes Club, avoid that week. See Myrtle Beach events.

What it costs

The club publishes no rack rate, and none was found on listings on November 1, 2026. An undated where2golf listing gives $125 to $250 by season. Package prices are by quote. Budget for a top-end Grand Strand green fee and treat any number you see as needing confirmation from the club.
