North end of Myrtle Beach: Kingston, the Hilton and Sea Watch

This stretch is the best compromise between beach and golf. Arcadian Shores is 3 to 4 minutes away, the Dunes Club and the Grande Dunes Resort Course about 9 to 10, and Barefoot about 13.

Kingston Resorts is a large oceanfront campus with one- to four-bedroom condos and villas with full kitchens, Royale Palms condos and an Embassy Suites tower. Book golf through its golf department and groups get 30% off room rates, up to 25% off tee times, waived resort and parking fees, breakfast at the Embassy Suites or Hilton and an hour in the fitness center's golf simulator. Without that program, resort and parking fees apply. It is family-oriented, with a waterpark, and busy in summer.

The Hilton is on the same campus beside Arcadian Shores. It has 387 rooms and no kitchens, so it suits couples or a foursome in two rooms. One listing reported a $39.20 nightly resort fee, others $25 to $35, plus $20 self-parking and $25 valet a day. Booked through the Kingston golf desk, those fees are waived.

Sea Watch Resort is the one to know if a Dunes Club round is the point of your trip. Its Dunes Club Package is two or more nights with one round at the Dunes Club plus two at other courses (examples include Blackmoor, Aberdeen and Litchfield), green and cart fees and a daily breakfast voucher. It is priced by quote. See who can play the Dunes Club.

The Dunes Club rule every oceanfront booker should know

The Dunes Golf & Beach Club is a private member club with a limited number of guest times. Unaccompanied guests cannot play on Fridays, Saturdays or holiday weekends, and the club closes Mondays for maintenance in winter and summer. It also hosts the PGA Tour's ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic, next on May 13-16, 2027, so expect it closed to guests that week. A package from a resort like Sea Watch is the most reliable way to lock in a weekday round; the club also takes limited online guest bookings.

Central Ocean Blvd: Marriott, Ocean Reef, Dunes Village and the Breakers

The Marriott at Grande Dunes is the polished oceanfront hotel of central Myrtle Beach, 5 minutes from the Dunes Club and 7 from the Grande Dunes Resort Course. It has about 405 rooms, a spa and no confirmed golf perks. A daily resort fee applies, valet is $28 a day, and self-parking is included in the resort fee per listings. See the Grande Dunes golf guide.

Ocean Reef Resort is a Brittain resort in the quieter 70s blocks, 6 minutes from the Dunes Club and Pine Lakes. Brittain golf packages include hot breakfast, a best tee-time price guarantee and a room discount when golf and room are booked together.

Dunes Village Resort is a family resort with indoor and outdoor water parks, 4 minutes from Pine Lakes. The name does not mean Dunes Club access: no package was found.

The Breakers is downtown, with oceanfront rooms, condos and the rare four- and five-bedroom villas that fit a whole group. Brittain packages let each golfer pay their share. Pine Lakes is 8 minutes away and the Myrtlewood courses 9. See the Pine Lakes course guide.

North Myrtle Beach: North Beach Plantation and Avista

North Beach Plantation has oceanfront twin towers and villas from one to five bedrooms, an indoor lazy river and hot tubs, 7 minutes from the Love, Fazio and Norman courses at Barefoot. Barefoot's own site lists it as a lodging option in its packages, and the resort's golf desk builds packages with partner groups. Units are privately owned and rented by more than one manager, so check what your booking includes. See the Barefoot Resort golf guide.

Avista Resort is an oceanfront condo-hotel on Ocean Drive, walkable to Main Street. It sells golf packages but publishes little golf detail. Its nearest course, The Surf, is a private club, so its practical nearby rounds are Beachwood (8 minutes) and the Valley at Eastport (11). See North Myrtle Beach golf.

Booking tips for an oceanfront golf base

  • Book golf and room together where it pays. Kingston's waiver and the Brittain room discount only apply when golf is booked through the resort.
  • Ask about every fee. Resort, parking and valet charges add up for a group with four cars.
  • Spring and fall are golf peaks; summer is the beach peak. Summer rooms carry the highest rates and often multi-night or weekly minimums, even though golf is in its low-rate season.
  • Allow for traffic. Router times exclude it; add 20 to 60 minutes or more on summer and event Saturdays on US 501, US 17 and Ocean Blvd.
