Guide emblem: Driving range Myrtle Beach: where to practise, Topgolf and club rental

The best driving range in Myrtle Beach for most golfers is at the course they are playing: Pine Lakes, Myrtle Beach National, Barefoot, TPC and others have ranges and short-game areas. For a stand-alone session, Tupelo Bay in Garden City has a practice complex and short courses, and Topgolf has heated bays for an evening hit.

This guide covers course ranges, practice complexes, Topgolf, golf schools, par-3 courses and where to rent clubs.

Quick facts

  • Stand-alone practice: Tupelo Bay (range, bunker, chipping, putting, teaching pro).
  • Evening and rainy-day hitting: Topgolf, 2850 Robert M. Grissom Parkway.
  • Grass range: Tidewater's driving range was open on grass as of October 26, 2026.
  • Golf schools: Dyer Golf Academy (Barefoot), Mel Sole Golf School (Sea Trail), Tidewater's golf school.
  • Par-3 golf: the Aero Club (lit, 18 holes) and Tupelo Bay.
  • Club rental: at many courses; reserve ahead at the Dye Clubhouse.

Barefoot's practice areas are at the resort clubhouse for the Love, Fazio and Norman, and at the Dye Clubhouse for the Dye. At Sea Trail, reviews of the Willard Byrd course reported the range closed for repairs in September and October 2026; it serves the Rees Jones course too.

One range is not open to visitors at all: Wachesaw Plantation Club is private, and its range is for members and accompanied guests.

Tupelo Bay: the practice complex

The Tupelo Bay Golf Complex on US 17 in Garden City and Murrells Inlet is the closest thing on the Strand to a stand-alone practice centre. It has a driving range, a bunker, a chipping area, a putting green and a teaching pro, plus an 18-hole par-58 executive course and a separate par-3 course.

It works for an arrival-day warm-up, a beginner in the group or a quick evening loop. The executive course showed GolfNow Hot Deals of $31.99 to $36.99 plus a $2.99 fee for November 2-8, 2026. It is 19 minutes from the SkyWheel. See the Tupelo Bay course guide.

Topgolf and the PGA TOUR Superstore

Topgolf Myrtle Beach, at 2850 Robert M. Grissom Parkway near Broadway at the Beach, has heated driving-range bays with food and drink. It is a good arrival-night or rainy-evening option, and the Hampton Inn Broadway at the Beach is next door.

The PGA TOUR Superstore near Broadway at the Beach is a big golf store with hitting bays and club fitting; the World Am holds its flight-winners playoff there. Whether it rents clubs was not verified.

Golf schools and lessons

  • Dyer Golf Academy at Barefoot Resort, on site with the four courses.
  • Mel Sole Golf School at Sea Trail Golf Resort in Sunset Beach, North Carolina.
  • Tidewater runs a golf school and lessons, with a grass driving range. See the Tidewater course guide.
  • Legends has a large practice area and golf academy at the Legends villas.
  • Teaching pros are listed at Pine Lakes, Eagle Nest and Tupelo Bay.

The Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina University is home to the university's PGA Golf Management program, and a new learning-centre clubhouse there was under construction in 2025-26, with no opening date found.

Par-3 and short courses

The Aero Club is a lit 18-hole par-3 course on the former Midway Par 3 site, 8 minutes from the SkyWheel. GolfNow listed it from $16.74 and another site from $27, dates and conditions not stated. It suits an evening hit, a recovery round or kids. Tupelo Bay's par-3 and par-58 courses are the other options.

Myrtle Beach also bills itself as a mini-golf capital. Mount Atlanticus is the multi-level downtown course a few blocks from the SkyWheel, and Hawaiian Rumble in North Myrtle Beach adds batting cages.

The old Cane Patch par-3 closed in October 2017. OpenStreetMap still shows a Cane Patch Driving Range, but its 2026 status was not confirmed, so do not plan on it.

Renting clubs

Flying in without clubs is easy. Our research lists club rentals at Barefoot, Myrtle Beach National, Caledonia, True Blue, TPC Myrtle Beach, Blackmoor, International Club, Eagle Nest and Tiger's Eye, and Barefoot asks you to reserve ahead at the Dye Clubhouse. Rental prices were not published, so call the shop when you book the tee time. See the Eagle Nest course guide for one of the value courses on that list, and flights to Myrtle Beach for getting here.

A warm-up plan by base

  • Central Myrtle Beach: Topgolf is next door to the Hampton Inn Broadway at the Beach for the night before, and the Pine Lakes range is 7 minutes from that hotel.
  • North Strand: at Barefoot, the practice areas sit at the resort clubhouse and the Dye Clubhouse, 4 to 5 minutes from the villas. From the Hampton Inn North Myrtle Beach-Harbourgate, Tidewater's grass range is 8 minutes.
  • South Strand: Tupelo Bay is 8 minutes from the Hampton Inn Murrells Inlet and 6 from the Country Inn & Suites Murrells Inlet, handy before a TPC or Wachesaw East tee time.
  • Arrival day: the Aero Club's lit par-3 course works for an evening loop after a late flight.

Range balls in packages

Two package perks cover warm-up balls. Barefoot's stay-and-play package includes free range balls along with breakfast and four rounds, and Founders Group's Founders Inclusive packages add range balls, lunch and two drinks. See our Barefoot Resort golf guide and Myrtle Beach golf packages guide.
