Winter (December to February): cheapest golf of the year

Highs run about 56-59F and lows 37-40F. Package sellers put their lowest rates between Thanksgiving and New Year's, and late November to February is the cheapest stretch for both golf and lodging. At Barefoot (Love and the other three), walk-on rates start at $108 Thursday-Sunday mornings and $95 otherwise from January 4 to February 9, 2027, and $98 any day from February 10 to 16, 2027.

The trade-offs: frost delays are common, non-overseeded bermuda is dormant and tan, and Christmas-New Year week is busier. Snowbirds fill monthly condos and weekday mornings at local courses. See Myrtle Beach golf in winter and Myrtle Beach golf winter conditions.

March and April: peak spring

The main golf season. March-April is the busiest and most expensive time for green fees and packages, which sellers call "prime time". April is the driest month by the normals at 2.77 inches.

March stacks up demand: the Myrtle Beach Marathon (listed for Saturday, March 6, 2027, not officially confirmed), Can-Am Days (March 15-21, 2027, per one report) and college spring breaks. Family spring breaks cluster around Easter, March 28, 2027.

Prices show it. Barefoot starts at $205-$227 for March 11-24, 2027 and $225-$235 on Thursday-Sunday mornings from April 1 to May 2, 2027. Prestwick's own sheet showed $180-$192 on the morning of Thursday, April 15, 2027, against $103 on January 14. Book tee times and packages early. See Myrtle Beach golf in spring.

May: warm, busy roads

May warms to about 79F and golf rates ease late in the month, but it is a busy month for lodging and roads: the spring Bike Week rally (May 8-17 in 2026; 2027 not published), the PGA Tour's ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic at the Dunes Club on May 13-16, 2027, Atlantic Beach Bikefest over Memorial Day weekend (Memorial Day is May 31, 2027) and high-school senior weeks. Most golf groups avoid Memorial Day weekend. See Myrtle Beach events.

June to August: low golf rates, peak beach

Beach highs reach about 85-88F with nights around 70-74F, and afternoon storms on 11-13 days a month. It is peak season for rooms and traffic but the low-rate season for golf, with open tee sheets early and late.

Examples: Caledonia's summer 2027 specials (June 21-August 31) are AM from $129 and PM from $109, and Barefoot starts at $124 on Thursday-Sunday mornings from June 14 to August 4, 2027. Most courses aerify greens in this window, so check dates. Late August brings the World Am, with about 3,000 players filling host courses (August 30 to September 4 in 2026). See Myrtle Beach summer golf and the Caledonia course guide.

September: cheap but wet

September is the wettest month (6.65 inches on about 11 days) and sits at the Atlantic hurricane peak, around September 10. After Labor Day (September 6, 2027) the beach empties and rooms get cheaper; fall golf rates start late in the month. The fall Bike Week rally ran September 25 to October 4 in 2026, per one listing. For trips from August to October, check cancellation terms and consider travel insurance.

October and early November: the fall peak

October averages about 76F by day and 56F at night, with the ocean around 73F, and fall green fees run near spring levels. Barefoot starts at $175 on Thursday-Sunday mornings from October 26 to November 8, 2026, and $225 for September 23 to October 24, 2027.

Many courses overseed rye in late September-October, which can bring cart-path-only days; Tidewater overseeds later, around Thanksgiving. From mid-November prices drop toward winter. Thanksgiving week is busy with families. See Myrtle Beach golf in fall and the Tidewater course guide.

Picking your window

  • Best golf weather, budget no object: mid-April or mid-October, booked early.
  • Best value with decent weather: mid to late November, after the fall peak eases (Barefoot from $158 and $125, November 9-22, 2026).
  • Cheapest: January to mid-February, with mid-morning tee times.
  • Families or cheapest green fees with heat: June to August, playing at dawn.
  • Avoid: event weekends unless you are going for the event.

Inland courses run warmer by day: Conway averages 75.8F in April against 71.8F at the coast, and 90.8F in July against 87.6F. For a broader trip plan, see the Myrtle Beach golf trip guide. Comparing towns? See the best time to golf in Destin and the best time to golf in Gulf Shores.
