Tucson winter golf means spending some or all of November to April in Green Valley, SaddleBrooke, Oro Valley or an RV resort, with a home course and a weekly rotation. Peak is January to April. The best values are renter deals: SaddleBrooke One sold a $580-a-month pass in 2026, and Quail Creek renters pay $84 for a prime 18.
Tucson suits a golf winter. Afternoon highs sit in the mid-60s to low 80s, rain is rare, and there are public courses from Marana to Tubac. This guide covers when to come, where to base, how the money works and what to book first.

How a winter of Tucson golf works
A Tucson winter golf season usually has four parts:
- A base for one to five months: a rental in a 55+ community, a park model or an RV site.
- A home course where you pay resident or renter rates, or hold a pass.
- A regular game, often through the community, the RV park or a club league.
- A rotation of other courses, one or two away days a week.
There is no Tucson-wide golf pass for visitors. The deals are sold by each course, each community and the city, so you build your own mix. Our Tucson golf passes guide lists every one we found.

| November | 75.1F / 47.9F | 43.3F | Fresh rye, one of the best months; El Tour de Tucson Nov 21 |
| December | 65.5F / 40.5F | 36.1F | Second rainy spell (0.96 in); frost delays likely |

| April | 82.9F / 53.3F | 50.0F | Very dry; departures after Easter; rates step down |
These are NOAA 1991-2020 normals. Afternoon highs are almost identical across the area. The nights differ: Catalina State Park, the Oro Valley proxy, has a January low of 30.6F. Expect more frost delays in Green Valley, Oro Valley and SaddleBrooke than in central Tucson, and take mid-morning tee times in midwinter.
Most courses are bermudagrass overseeded with rye, so they play green from about November to April. Our best time to golf in Tucson and Tucson golf overseed guides go month by month.

Rental prices come from owner listings and rate cards seen October 2026; rates change.
- Green Valley. Green Valley furnished monthly rentals are the cheapest in the area, and a GVR tenant card opens the recreation centres, but not golf. The public courses are minutes away: Haven, Torres Blancas and San Ignacio. January and February units go early. See Green Valley winter rentals.
- Quail Creek. Renting any home in Quail Creek drops an 18-hole prime-season round at Quail Creek Country Club from $130 with cart to $84 plus cart, and opens annual memberships. There is no central rental office.
- SaddleBrooke. SaddleBrooke seasonal rentals unlock SaddleBrooke One golf at resident rates or a flat monthly pass. See SaddleBrooke golf.
- Oro Valley. Oro Valley furnished rentals are the priciest winter market here, and none seen included golf. The town-owned El Conquistador 18s are the public golf.
- RV resorts. Rincon Country West publishes multi-month rates; Voyager RV Resort has its own par-3 course and golf leagues. See Tucson RV resorts for golfers.
What Tucson winter golf costs
These prices were seen in October 2026 and change. Most courses did not publish a winter rate card.

The Quail Creek course guide and Randolph North course guide have the full details.
Booking tee times in peak season
- Book on the first day the window opens. The City Card gives 7-day advance booking at the city courses. Haven takes reservations 7 days ahead for two or more players (undated listing). Most courses do not publish a window.
- Know the busy weeks. The gem and mineral shows run about January 27 to February 14, 2027 and fill hotels citywide. La Fiesta de los Vaqueros runs February 20 to 28, 2027. The Cologuard Classic is listed for March 18 to 21, 2027 on resale sites, not yet confirmed.
- Use the frost lines. Torres Blancas and Canoa Ranch run a Frost and Heat Index line, 520-352-1082, for same-day checks.
- Spread your rounds. A weekly rotation keeps you off the busiest sheets; our snowbird golf schedule for Tucson lays one out.
Rules for Canadian snowbirds
Three clocks matter. US immigration normally admits Canadian visitors for up to six months, at the officer's discretion. The IRS substantial presence test counts days this year plus a third of last year's and a sixth of the year before; 183 weighted days makes you a US tax resident unless you file Form 8840 by June 15, and staying under about 120 days a year keeps you below it. Provincial health plans set their own limits on time away, and out-of-country medical insurance is essential.
Since April 11, 2025, Canadians aged 14 or older staying 30 days or more who did not get an I-94, for example because they drove in, must register with USCIS. This is general information only, not tax or legal advice. Our Canadian snowbirds in Tucson guide covers flights and the drive.
Getting here
Tucson International Airport is on the south side, about 17 minutes from downtown, but it has no nonstop from Canada. Phoenix Sky Harbor has WestJet nonstops from Calgary, Edmonton and Saskatoon, WestJet and Air Canada from Vancouver, and Air Canada and Porter from Toronto (route pages read October 2026). Downtown Tucson is about 121 minutes from PHX on our estimate. Drivers from Calgary should plan on about three days.

Questions golfers ask
When is the Tucson winter golf season?
Peak season runs January to April, when overseeded courses are in their best condition and rates are highest. Snowbirds start arriving in late October and through November, and departures pick up after Easter, which is March 28, 2027.
How cold is Tucson in winter for golf?
January normals at Tucson's airport are 66.5F highs and 40.8F lows. Green Valley runs about 36F at dawn and Catalina State Park near Oro Valley about 31F, so frost delays and later first tee times are common from December to February.
What golf passes do Tucson snowbirds use?
The City of Tucson City Card gives card rates at the five city courses; it was on sale at $50 plus tax for the rest of 2026, and a 2027 card was not published. Renters in SaddleBrooke One could buy a $580-a-month play pass in 2026, and Quail Creek renters pay $84 instead of $130 for a prime-season 18.
Where do snowbirds stay for winter golf in Tucson?
Mostly Green Valley, SaddleBrooke, Oro Valley and the RV resorts on Tucson's edges. Green Valley furnished rentals ran about $1,200 to $3,600 a month in listings seen October 2026, and a 3-month standard site at Rincon Country West was $3,750 plus electric.
Do Tucson golf courses close in the fall?

How long can Canadians stay in Tucson for a golf winter?
Canadian visitors are normally admitted for up to six months, but US tax rules and provincial health limits also apply. Staying under about 120 days every year keeps you below the IRS 183-day weighted test. This is general information only, not tax or legal advice.
Is there a nonstop flight from Canada to Tucson?
No nonstop from Canada to Tucson was found for 2026-27. Phoenix Sky Harbor has WestJet and Air Canada nonstops, and downtown Tucson is about 121 minutes from PHX on our estimate.
