Average high by month: A snowbird golf schedule for Tucson: weekly course rotations for value and conditions

A snowbird golf schedule for Tucson works best as four or five rounds a week from one base: a home course two or three times, the nearest public courses on other days, and one away day. Take mid-morning tee times from December to February, when frost delays are common, and book each week as soon as the 7-day windows open.

Below are three ready-made rotations, one each from Green Valley, SaddleBrooke and Oro Valley, and the central RV parks. All use drive times from our map and fees seen in October 2026.

Quick facts

  • Rounds a week: four or five, with two rest days.
  • Tee times: mid-morning December to February; earlier in November, March and April.
  • Booking windows: 7 days with the City Card at city courses; 7 days at Haven for 2+ players.
  • Frost line: Torres Blancas and Canoa Ranch, 520-352-1082.
  • Away day: Tubac Golf Resort, 30 minutes from Green Valley.
  • Busy weeks: gem shows about January 27 to February 14, 2027; rodeo February 20 to 28.

Rules for a good snowbird golf schedule in Tucson

  1. One base, short drives. Every rotation below keeps most rounds within about 25 minutes of home.
  2. Mix course types. Flat and walkable one day, desert target golf the next.
  3. Late tee times in midwinter. Afternoon highs are about the same across the area, near 67F in January, but dawn is much colder in Green Valley and Oro Valley than in central Tucson.
  4. Book on a fixed day. Most windows are short or unpublished, so pick a day each week to book the next seven.
  5. Rest after the hard rounds. Put a rest day after Sewailo, Starr Pass or a 36-hole day.
  6. Protect your home-course deal. If you rent in SaddleBrooke One or Quail Creek, play the home course most, since the pass or renter rate is where the savings are.

Rotation 1: from a Green Valley base

Green Valley has the cheapest furnished rentals and four public or semi-private courses within 15 minutes. Drive times are from the Green Valley furnished monthly rentals point on our map.

Day Course Drive Why that day Fee seen
MondayHaven7 minFlat and walkable start to the week$44.99 prepaid with cart (Oct 18, 2026)
TuesdayTorres Blancas9 minLee Trevino layout with lakes; dynamic pricing$18.99-$24.99 with cart (Sep 2026)

SaturdayTubac Golf Resort30 minAway day and lunch in Tubac village$42.09-$55.95 (June 2026)
SundayRest

Fees are snapshots and rise in winter: San Ignacio's late-October rates were more than double September's. Torres Blancas and Canoa Ranch share a frost line, and Haven allows walking. Quail Creek is 18 minutes away and costs $130 with cart for non-residents in prime season, so it fits the schedule only if you rent inside it. The Haven course guide has the details, and Green Valley golf covers every course.

Rotation 2: from SaddleBrooke or Oro Valley

This rotation suits a renter in SaddleBrooke One, where the 2026 renter pass was $580 a month. Drive times are from the SaddleBrooke seasonal rentals point.

Day Course Drive Notes
MondaySaddleBrooke One8 minHome course on the renter pass
TuesdayMountainView3 minGary Panks design (2023); call first for access
WednesdayEl Conquistador26 minTown-owned public course under Pusch Ridge
ThursdaySaddleBrooke One8 minSecond home-course round
FridayThe Views at Oro Valley19 minDaily-fee play through GolfNow
SaturdaySaddleBrooke One, or Omni Tucson National8 or 35 minPass round, or the old tour course as an away day
SundayRest

Three or four pass rounds a week is about 13 to 17 a month, which brings the $580 pass to roughly $34 to $45 a round before any cart. The 2026-27 pass price had not been seen. Oro Valley renters can run the same week with El Conquistador as the home course, 11 minutes from the Oro Valley furnished rentals point. Note that Catalina State Park, the Oro Valley proxy, has a January normal low of 30.6F: start no earlier than mid-morning. See SaddleBrooke golf and the El Conquistador course guide.

Rotation 3: from a Tucson RV park

The big RV resorts sit on the east and southwest edges of the city, close to the city courses. Here are two weeks, one from each Rincon park.

From Rincon Country East:

Day Course Drive
MondayFred Enke, desert-target city course8 min
TuesdayRandolph North, flat midtown muni18 min
WednesdayRest
ThursdayForty Niner, older William F. Bell layout that takes public play22 min
FridayArizona National, RTJ Jr. desert course near Sabino Canyon24 min
SaturdayDell Urich, the shorter Randolph course18 min

From Rincon Country West:

Day Course Drive
MondayEl Rio, old tree-lined city course13 min
TuesdayStarr Pass, 27 desert holes11 min
WednesdayRest
ThursdaySilverbell, long, flat west-side muni21 min
FridaySewailo, modern Notah Begay III course15 min
SaturdayRandolph North or Dell Urich19 min

The city courses fill most of these weeks, so the City Card is the key purchase: card rates, one free round and 7-day advance booking. It was $50 plus tax for the rest of 2026; a 2027 card was not published. Sewailo and Starr Pass are the splurge rounds. Sewailo prices change daily, so check the tee sheet rather than a rack rate. See Tucson RV resorts for golfers and Tucson golf passes.

Adjusting the schedule by month

Month Change to the rotation
OctoberOverseed season. Check each course; in late October 2026 Crooked Tree and the Conquistador course were taking times, the Canada course was not. Sewailo was cart-path-only to Oct 23, 2026.
NovemberFresh rye; tee off earlier. El Tour de Tucson on Nov 21, 2026 closes roads across the metro, so skip that Saturday or play near home.
DecemberFrost delays; mid-morning times. The second rainy spell (about 1 inch). Holiday weeks are busy.
JanuaryPeak season. Book every window on day one.
FebruaryGem shows and rodeo week: keep rounds close to your base.
MarchThe best golf month and peak rates. Spring break adds demand.
AprilDepartures after Easter (Mar 28, 2027); rates step down and times open up.

Making the schedule stick

  • Join a regular game. Voyager RV Resort runs men's, women's and couples' tournaments weekly and plays a weekly league match at Dorado Golf Course.
  • Keep a rain plan. Winter rain is rare, about four days a month in December to February, so shift rather than cancel.
  • Track your rounds. If you are on a pass, count rounds each month to check it still beats daily rates.

For a similar plan in another Arizona winter town, see the Yuma golf weekly schedule.

Plan it on the map

Questions golfers ask

How many rounds a week do snowbirds play in Tucson?

Most rotations here assume four or five, with two rest days. If you hold SaddleBrooke One's renter pass, which was $580 a month in 2026, more rounds lower the cost per round, so five a week makes sense there.

What time should I tee off in a Tucson winter?

Mid-morning from December to February. NOAA normals give January lows of 36.1F in Green Valley and 30.6F at Catalina State Park near Oro Valley, so frost delays are common. Torres Blancas and Canoa Ranch run a Frost and Heat Index line, 520-352-1082.

How far ahead can I book tee times in Tucson?

Most courses do not publish a window. The City Card gives 7-day advance booking at the five city courses, and Haven takes reservations 7 days ahead for two or more players according to an undated listing. Set a weekly reminder to book the next week.

Which Tucson courses are open in October during overseed?

It varies by year. In late October 2026, Crooked Tree and El Conquistador's Conquistador course were taking times while the Canada course was not. Sewailo closed September 14 to October 1, 2026 and stayed cart-path-only to October 23.

What is the best day trip in a Green Valley golf week?

Tubac Golf Resort, about 30 minutes from the Green Valley rentals, with 27 holes on the old Otero Ranch and the Tin Cup hole. Its Anza nine was closed from fall 2026 to about January 2027, so only 18 holes are open until then.

Do I need a different schedule in February?

Mostly for rooms and traffic, not golf. The gem and mineral shows run about January 27 to February 14, 2027 and fill hotels citywide, and rodeo week is February 20 to 28. Keep your rounds near your base those weeks.
