What golf costs in January

January is peak season, and few courses publish winter rates. What we found (seen October 2026; rates change):

Quail Creek, resident or renter$84 for 18, cart extra
SaddleBrooke Country Club, resident or renter daily$79 morning / $61 afternoon (2026 golf year winter)

The Golf Club at Dove Mountain$250 to $360 at peak times (2024 listing); Ritz-Carlton guests and members only

Fall 2026 prices give a floor: El Conquistador was $46.69 to $85.79 on October 27, San Ignacio $41.88 to $71.61 and Crooked Tree $42.95 to $63.17. Those are early-season prices; January is peak season. The resort courses published no readable rates, and resort room rates for January could not be read either, so they are unknown here. Our Tucson golf rates guide has every number.

The 2026 Tucson City Card was listed with an expiry of December 31, 2026, and a 2027 card had not been published. Check for the new card before a January trip.

Dates that squeeze January

  • New Year week: family visitors on top of snowbirds; holiday-week tee-time demand.
  • Gem, mineral and fossil shows: about January 27 to February 14, 2027, the biggest hotel crunch of the year. Hotels along I-10 and downtown sell out or run their highest rates. For the last days of January, book rooms early or base in Oro Valley, Marana or Green Valley.

The middle of January, after the holidays and before the shows, is the easiest stretch of the month for rooms. See Tucson golf events.

Getting here in January

Tucson International (TUS) is about 17 minutes from downtown. Several of its routes are winter-only: Delta and Sun Country to Minneapolis/St. Paul, Southwest to Chicago-Midway, Dallas Love and Houston Hobby, and Alaska to Orange County, per the airport's airline table; seasonal start dates were not listed. There is no nonstop from Canada. Phoenix Sky Harbor is about 121 minutes away by I-10 and has Canadian nonstops. See flights to Tucson.

Rest days and rainy days in January

January is a good month for the outdoor sights, since the afternoons are mild.

  • Sabino Canyon: a narrated shuttle up the canyon, and creek pools after winter rain. Day-use fee, shuttle tickets separate.
  • Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum: mostly outdoors on about 2 miles of paths; go early and allow half a day, then add Saguaro National Park West next door.
  • Mission San Xavier del Bac: the 1790s mission church south of town, free, with fry bread stands outside.
  • Tohono Chul: a botanical garden and tearoom on Ina Road, close to the northwest courses.

On one of January's four or so rain days, the Pima Air & Space Museum fills half a day, and the Titan Missile Museum is minutes from Green Valley off I-19. For dinner, El Charro Cafe downtown has been open since 1922. See things to do in Tucson for more.

Booking January tee times

Book as early as each course allows. Few publish a window: the City Card gave 7-day advance booking at city courses in 2026, and Haven opens 7 days ahead for two or more per an undated listing. On frosty days, a mid-morning time often plays better than the first. More in Tucson tee times.

If you are choosing between winter towns, compare Yuma golf in January and Mesquite golf in January.
