Average high by month: Tucson tee times: booking windows, who can book, and getting a winter morning

Tucson tee times are booked course by course: on each club's site, by phone, or through GolfNow and similar sites. Only a few courses publish a booking window; the clearest is 7 days for Tucson City Card holders at the five city courses. Resort and community courses have their own rules, and Dove Mountain is for Ritz-Carlton guests and members only.

Peak season, January to April, is when this matters. Here is what we found about who can book where, how far ahead, and how to get a good winter morning.

The City Card was listed at $50 plus tax for the rest of 2026 (earlier $119). Its 7-day window is the main reason to buy one if you plan to play the city courses in December. Earlier 2026 terms said cards expire December 31, 2026, and a 2027 card was not published.

Resort and guest-only courses

The two Ventana Canyon courses, the Mountain and the Canyon, alternate daily between member play and resort play. Before you book a room at Loews, ask which course is in the resort rotation on your dates. Mountain has the famous par-3 3rd.

At La Paloma, a private Nicklaus 27, older sources say Westin La Paloma guests can play. The 2026 guest policy was not confirmed, so ask when you book.

The Golf Club at Dove Mountain has not been a public course for non-guests since Escalante Golf bought it in 2016. Guests book through Guest Relations, the club or the EZLinks sheet. The Dove Mountain course guide covers the three nines.

Omni Tucson National Catalina and Sonoran are open to the public as well as resort guests, and Starr Pass takes outside play through GolfNow and Troon. Resort-guest priority at Starr Pass is not published.

Community courses

Community clubs sell some public times, but residents come first.

  • Quail Creek's non-residents can book daily rounds at the non-resident rate. Robson's 2026 fine print says management can open or close the course to the public at its discretion. New golfers register at the pro shop.
  • SaddleBrooke Country Club lists public daily play on GolfNow but published no public rate; visitors should call first.
  • The Preserve and MountainView showed no public times on our snapshots. Phone before counting on them.
  • The Views at Sun City Oro Valley and Highlands at Dove Mountain both sell daily-fee times on GolfNow. At Highlands, groups under four are paired.

Who had tee times in late October 2026

A snapshot of tee sheets for October 27, 2026 shows how uneven the fall is:

  • Taking times: El Conquistador's Conquistador Course ($46.69 to $85.79), Crooked Tree ($42.95 to $63.17) and San Ignacio ($41.88 to $71.61).
  • No times listed: El Conquistador Cañada, MountainView and Omni Tucson National's Catalina Course. Overseed is the likely reason, but it was not confirmed.
  • Short on holes: Tubac's Anza nine is closed until about January 2027, so its 18 holes take all the play.

If a course shows nothing on a fall date, call before assuming it is full or closed.

Getting a winter morning

Winter mornings in Tucson are cold and bright. Afternoons are almost identical across the area, about 66.5F to 67F in January, but nights are not. The normal January low is 40.8F at the airport, 36.1F in Green Valley and 30.6F at Catalina State Park on the Oro Valley edge. Cold air drains into the valleys, so frost delays hit Green Valley, Oro Valley, Catalina and SaddleBrooke more than central Tucson.

What that means for booking:

  1. Book the first available time at the day's opening, but in Green Valley or Oro Valley expect it to slide on frosty days. Torres Blancas and Canoa Ranch run a Frost and Heat Index line, 520-352-1082.
  2. The second wave is often the sweet spot. A mid-morning time avoids the frost backlog and the coldest air.
  3. Know the shop hours. Torres Blancas runs sunrise to 3 PM from November to May; Canoa Ranch sunrise to 4 PM from January to May.
  4. Play central courses on the coldest days. El Rio is 7 minutes from downtown and Randolph 10, with milder nights than the outlying courses.

Dates that squeeze Tucson tee times

  • El Tour de Tucson, November 21, 2026: rolling road closures across Tucson, Marana and Oro Valley much of the Saturday.
  • Thanksgiving, November 26, 2026, and the Christmas to New Year weeks: family visitors on top of arriving snowbirds.
  • Gem and mineral shows, about January 27 to February 14, 2027: the biggest hotel crunch of the year.
  • La Fiesta de los Vaqueros, February 20 to 28, 2027, and the Festival of Books, March 13 to 14, 2027.
  • Cologuard Classic: listed on resale sites for March 18 to 21, 2027 at La Paloma (not confirmed by the tour). It is spectators only.
  • Easter, March 28, 2027: departures pick up and times open through April.

Our Tucson golf events guide covers each.

Summer and overseed timing

In summer, book the first tee time. June averages a 101.2F high, and July and August bring monsoon storms with afternoon lightning suspensions. In fall, check for overseed: Sewailo closed September 14 to October 1, 2026 and stayed cart-path-only to October 23. See Tucson golf overseed and Tucson summer golf.

Booking tips

  • Compare sites. Torres Blancas says its rates change in real time with demand; check the club site against GolfNow.
  • Read the deposit terms. Prepaid GolfNow times at Torres Blancas and Quarry Pines carried a $10 non-refundable deposit plus fees.
  • Spread the week. A weekly rotation keeps you off the busiest sheets. Our snowbird golf schedule shows one.
  • Check the price as well as the time. See Tucson golf rates and cheap golf in Tucson.

For another Arizona town's peak-season booking, see Yuma tee times in winter.

Plan it on the map

Open the Tucson golf map to see who can play each course and how far it is from your base. The $30 plan lays out tee times day by day for a trip, or a whole winter stay of 2 to 12 weeks with a weekly rotation.

Questions golfers ask

How far ahead can you book tee times in Tucson?

Most Tucson courses do not publish a booking window. Tucson City Card holders get 7-day advance booking at the five city courses, and Haven in Green Valley opens 7 days ahead for two or more players per an undated listing. Call the pro shop for the rest.

How do I get a tee time at Dove Mountain?

The Golf Club at Dove Mountain is for members and guests of The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain. Guests book through the resort's Guest Relations team, the club or the EZLinks sheet. The booking window is not published.

Can I book Ventana Canyon without staying at Loews?

Not as far as we found. The two Fazio courses alternate daily between member play and resort play for guests of Loews Ventana Canyon and the Lodge at Ventana Canyon. Access for non-guests is not published.

Are there frost delays in Tucson in winter?

Yes, mainly December to February. Normal January lows are 40.8F at the airport, 36.1F in Green Valley and 30.6F at Catalina State Park near Oro Valley, so first times in the outlying areas are delayed more often. Torres Blancas and Canoa Ranch run a Frost and Heat Index line, 520-352-1082.

Is GolfNow good for Tucson tee times?

It sells times at many Tucson courses, including Starr Pass, Forty Niner, Quarry Pines, Crooked Tree, Haven and Highlands at Dove Mountain. Prepaid hot deals were the cheapest prices we found but some carry a $10 non-refundable deposit. Arizona National says to book direct for its best online rate.

When are Tucson tee times hardest to get?

January to March, and especially February, when the gem and mineral shows fill the city. Thanksgiving and the Christmas to New Year weeks are busy too. El Tour de Tucson on November 21, 2026 closes roads across the metro for much of the day.

Do Tucson courses pair singles?

Some say so. Highlands at Dove Mountain notes on GolfNow that groups under four are paired. Ask the pro shop elsewhere if your group is under four.
