Red-rock poster: Summer Golf in St. George, Utah: The Deals, the Heat and How to Play It

The best summer golf deals in St. George, Utah are at the city courses, where 18 holes ran $30 to $54 between June and September in 2026, and at Green Spring in Washington, which was $50 with a cart any day. Over the Nevada line, Conestoga in Mesquite drops to $80 to $120 from late June through August. The catch is heat: highs average about 96 to 102°F, so every deal assumes you tee off at first light.

Below is every summer rate we could find across Washington County and Mesquite, the maintenance dates to dodge, where to go when it's too hot, and how to keep a 100-degree round from turning miserable.

How hot St. George summer golf really is

NOAA 1991-2020 normals (Mesquite from the nearby Beaver Dam, Arizona station):

Month St. George high / low Mesquite-area high / low Rain days (St. George)
June96°F / 65°F104°F / 65°F1.2
July102°F / 72°F109°F / 74°F2.8
August100°F / 70°F107°F / 73°F2.9

The lows are the good news. A 65 to 72°F start means the first two hours of the day are pleasant, and the climate notes for June and July say the same thing: play at dawn. July and August bring monsoon thunderstorms, which supply some of the year's rain, so watch for afternoon lightning. June is also the windiest month at the St. George airport, averaging 7.7 mph. Local summer rates for Washington County residents

If you live in Washington County, or you're a snowbird with a Utah ID and a county address, summer is cheaper again:

Course Local summer rate (18 holes) What you need
St. George Golf Club, Southgate$22 walking / $42 with cartCity loyalty card ($80/yr)
Sunbrook$27 walking / $47 with cartCity loyalty card
Dixie Red Hills (9 holes)$12 walking / $22 with cartCity loyalty card
SunRiver$48Washington County ID

The city loyalty card requires a Utah ID with a Washington County address. Over in Mesquite, Oasis offers a resident rate to verified Washington County, Utah residents too, though the amount isn't published. More in St. George golf resident rates.

The three best summer golf deals in St. George, and the fine print

1. City of St. George walking rates

Walking 18 at St. George Golf Club for $30 is the lowest price for a full-length course in the area. The fine print is that walking a desert course in 100-degree heat is hard work. If you walk, go off first and finish before late morning.

2. Conestoga in Mesquite

Conestoga is No. 20 on Golf Digest's 2025-26 Nevada list, and its public rate falls from $205 to $300 in spring to $80 to $120 from Jun 22 to Aug 30. That makes it the cheapest Golf Digest-ranked Mesquite course in summer. The fine print: Mesquite highs run near 109°F in July, there's no twilight rate in that window, and reviewers say the carts have no GPS, so bring a rangefinder.

Oasis Canyons is the other Mesquite option to watch. GolfNow "Hot Deals" there ran about $81 to $110 with cart in summer 2026. Falcon Ridge's $50 rate from 1 p.m. in early June 2027 is cheaper still, if you can face a Mesquite afternoon.

3. Black Desert after 10:15 a.m.

It's still the most expensive round in the area, but Black Desert's summer rate is $125 less than peak for non-guests, and it includes cart, forecaddie, and food and soft drinks. The fine print is in the timing: the discount only applies from 10:15 a.m., when it's already hot, and from Aug 1 to Sep 13 the course was in PGA TOUR prep with mats and limited tees in 2026.

Summer maintenance dates to dodge

Summer is when courses aerate. These were the 2026 dates; 2027 dates weren't published when we checked.

  • Oasis Palmer: closed Jun 29 to Jul 6.
  • Oasis Canyons: closed Jun 15 to 22.
  • Conestoga: fairways aerated Jun 15 and Jul 20; greens Jun 22–23 and Jul 27–28.
  • Falcon Ridge: back-nine greens replaced Jun 15 to Sep 6, so 18 holes meant the front nine twice.
  • Wolf Creek: greens dryjected May 25–26, tees and fairways aerated Jun 23 and Aug 25, then closed Aug 30 for overseed.
  • Sand Hollow: greens aerified in early May and August; the resort says to call for exact dates.
  • Coral Canyon: aeration closures listed May 5–7 and Aug 18–20 (year not stated).
  • Sunbrook: fall aerification Aug 25–27, with 18 holes still open.
  • Black Desert: PGA TOUR prep from Aug 1, then closed Sep 14 to Oct 6.

By September the overseed closures start, so see the St. George overseed schedule before booking late summer.

Escape the heat: go up, not south

Elevation is the only real way to cool things down. Mesquite is the wrong direction in summer: its courses sit at about 1,550 to 1,860 feet and run about 7°F hotter than St. George.

Course Where Clubhouse elevation Drive
The LedgesNorth of St. Georgeabout 3,810 ft15 min from downtown
Copper RockHurricaneabout 3,384 ft36 min from downtown
ThunderbirdMount Carmel Junctionabout 5,200 ftEast of Zion; route runs through the park
Cedar RidgeCedar Cityabout 5,810 ftAbout 58 min north on I-15
  • The Ledges is the highest course in the St. George area. It's slightly cooler, and the ball flies a bit farther.
  • Cedar Ridge in Cedar City charges a flat $50 with a cart or $32 walking all year on its 2025 rate card, and it's best used as a summer escape when St. George is over 100°F. The Cedar City golf guide has more.
  • Thunderbird is a short course at Mount Carmel Junction, cooler at about 5,200 feet, but it only makes sense as part of a Zion east-side trip. The direct route from St. George runs through Zion National Park, with a park entry fee and oversize-vehicle limits at the Zion-Mt. Carmel tunnel. No current green fees are published.

Summer golf near Zion National Park

Summer is Zion's busy season, and Hurricane is the golf town on the way. Sky Mountain is the closest course to Zion, about 20 minutes from Springdale, and was about $68 with a cart in summer. Play at first light, then head for the park, or the other way around. The Hurricane and Sand Hollow golf guide covers that side of the county.

Summer hotels: cheaper, except on Zion weekends

Some hotels hit their lowest prices in summer. The Best Western Plus Abbey Inn averaged about $113 a night in July on Kayak, against about $229 in its most expensive month. The Holiday Inn Express St. George North, two minutes from Coral Canyon in Washington, showed about $90 to $105 in June and July snapshots.

The exception is holiday weekends. Zion's busiest months are June and July, and the park logged 95,000+ visits over Memorial Day weekend 2025. Hotels toward Zion and in St. George fill on those weekends even though golf is at its cheapest.

How to book summer golf deals in St. George

Summer rounds are easy to get, but the first tee times of the day are the ones that matter, and they go first. Booking windows are the same as the rest of the year:

Course Window Note
City of St. George courses14 days onlineBook the first times the day they open
Green Spring14 days, prepaid onlineSingles must call unless joining an open group
SunRiver60 daysFull prepayment
Conestoga56 days publicDynamic pricing; earlier and weekday bookings land lower
Falcon RidgeUp to 90 daysAsk about the local rate at check-in
Black DesertUp to 60 days (2024 release)Summer discount only from 10:15 a.m.

Remember the clock in Mesquite. It's on Pacific time, an hour behind St. George, so a 6:00 a.m. tee time at Conestoga is 7:00 a.m. on a St. George clock, and the drive from downtown is about 56 minutes.

Who summer golf suits

  • Golfers who are happy to be on the first tee at sunrise and done by 11.
  • Groups that want resort courses at lower rates and can live with the heat.
  • Anyone happy to golf early and spend the afternoon by the pool, or in Zion.

The summer golf deals in St. George are real, but they come with the heat. If that's a dealbreaker, look at winter golf in St. George, when the courses are green and the afternoons are mild.
