Ratings are from the official scorecard image. Yardages and par per combination were not on it, so they are not listed here. The tees are named Cinder, Copper, Indigo, Turquoise and Lava, and the card carries a Tee It Forward chart that matches tees to driver distance.
A top slope of 127 makes Kierland one of the friendlier resort facilities in Scottsdale. It is a good fit for couples, mixed groups and the second round of a 36-hole day.
Which Kierland combination to play
The three 18s rate within about half a stroke of each other, so pick on time and availability more than difficulty:
- Mesquite/Ironwood: the highest men's rating from the Cinder tees (73.1/127), the choice for the better players in a group.
- Ironwood/Acacia: 72.8/127 from the Cinder, with the highest women's rating from the Indigo (73.1/127).
- Acacia/Mesquite: the lowest Cinder rating (72.5/127) and the lowest Lava rating (63.1/106), the gentlest of the three.
Couples and beginners will find the Turquoise and Lava tees, with men's slopes from 105 to 111, a relaxed round. Use the Tee It Forward chart on the card to match tees to driver distance.

Kierland on a buddies trip or a winter stay
For a 3 to 5 day group trip, Kierland is the easy anchor: book the Westin or the villas, play Kierland on arrival day and again mid-trip, and spend the big money once at TPC Scottsdale or Grayhawk, both within about 11 minutes. With green fees covering a shared cart and range balls, the day's costs are simple to split.
For a snowbird month, a Kierland condo puts three nines, two TPC courses and Grayhawk inside a short drive, with walkable dinners. The trade-off is price: furnished listings seen ran about $3,000 to $7,000+ a month, against about $2,000 to $3,500 for furnished condos in Sun Lakes in the listings seen.
After the round
Kierland Commons and Scottsdale Quarter, across Scottsdale Road, cover most dinners: Zinc Bistro for a patio lunch, Mastro's Ocean Club at Kierland, and Dominick's Steakhouse with its rooftop at Scottsdale Quarter. The Penske Racing Museum is nearby. More in where to eat in Scottsdale.
