Westin Rancho Mirage golf now means one course: the Pete Dye Resort Course beside the hotel, a 1987 par 70 that reopens November 3, 2026 with brand-new greens. It is open to the public and to hotel guests. The Gary Player course, once the Westin's second course, now runs independently as Mission Hills - Gary Player.
The hotel was formerly the Westin Mission Hills, and plenty of older listings still describe a two-course resort. This guide sorts out what changed, covers the rebuilt Dye course, its tees and booking rules, the independent Gary Player course across the way, and the private Mission Hills Country Club next door. Details were read November 2, 2026.

What changed at the Westin Rancho Mirage
Three things changed, and they explain most of the confusion about Westin Rancho Mirage golf online.
- The name. The resort was the Westin Mission Hills and is now the Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa.
- The Gary Player course left. GolfNow describes Mission Hills - Gary Player as an independent facility that was once an amenity of the Westin Mission Hills Resort. It has its own phone (760-699-0111), its own tee sheet and its own pricing. Some hotel listings still bundle it with the Westin, so check before you book a package that promises both.
- The Dye course was rebuilt. It closed May 1, 2026 for a championship greens project. The Marriott property page put the closure to August 27, and a Golf Zoo listing gave May 1 to July 30. The resort now advertises brand-new greens and a layout restored to Pete Dye's original design, reopening November 3, 2026 after fall overseed. A new superintendent, Aaron Garcia from Indian Wells Golf Resort, was announced May 28, 2026.
The Pete Dye Resort Course
The Pete Dye Resort Course is a desert resort par 70 set around the hotel, with Dye's railroad-tie bulkheads, pot bunkers, mounding and water. It is short from the forward sets and a real test from the Black tees.
| Tee | Yards | Men | Women |
|---|---|---|---|
| Black | 6,706 | 72.2/132 | n/a |
| Black/Gold | 6,490 | 71.1/129 | n/a |
| Gold | 6,158 | 69.8/129 | n/a |
| Gold/Silver | 5,880 | 68.4/122 | n/a |
| Silver | 5,587 | 66.9/119 | 71.9/129 |
| Silver/Jade | 5,327 | 65.6/116 | 70.4/126 |
| Jade | 4,841 | 63.4/111 | 67.7/120 |
Reviews over recent seasons were mixed on conditioning, and the 2026 greens rebuild was the fix. Judge it on reports after November, not on older reviews. The first rounds on the new greens start November 3, so expect fresh, firm surfaces and possibly cart-path rules for the first days.
Westin Rancho Mirage golf rates and booking
The resort uses dynamic pricing and the booking page shows no dollar amounts. What it does say:
- Rates vary by date and time and are lower when booked further ahead for off-peak hours.
- Its best rates are through its membership programs (the Palm Club and a Corporate Golf Membership, prices not published). Palm Club members get private cart use without trail fees and a member range.
- Booking direct on the resort golf site carries no booking fee.
- Cancel at least 24 hours out, or you may be charged the applicable rate.
An undated teetimesusa listing gave weekday green fees of $89 to $158. It is not a current rate, so use it only as a rough sense of range. Hotel guests should ask about Stay & Play. Some golf packages have had blackouts, for example March 1 to 15 and April 24 to 26, 2026. See Palm Springs golf rates and Palm Springs tee times.
Mission Hills - Gary Player: the independent course
The Gary Player course is a 1992 par 72, billed as the only Gary Player design in the desert, with lakes, mounding and mountain views. It is a daily-fee course now, with a separate tee sheet for Coachella Valley Resident Golf Card holders.
| Westin Pete Dye Resort Course | Mission Hills - Gary Player | |
|---|---|---|
| Opened | 1987 | 1992 |
| Par | 70 | 72 |
| Back tees | 6,706 yds, 72.2/132 | 7,062 yds, 73.4/134 |
| Middle tees | Gold 6,158 yds, 69.8/129 | Gold 6,643 yds, 71.3/126 |
| Price seen | dynamic, not published | $53.99 hot deal (Sep 24, 2026); $49.48 (Aug 16, 2026) |
| Fall 2026 | reopens Nov 3 | "planning to open in November", no date |
| From downtown Palm Springs | 20 min | 17 min |
The Gary Player course is usually one of the cheaper full-length rounds in the middle of the valley, around $50 with cart in summer and shoulder. The knock has been conditioning: a GolfPass review from about August 2026 described poor greens and weedy rough, while a GolfClubAtlas member on September 9, 2026 found it quiet and worth a return. Check recent reviews after it reopens. Afterward, the Lakeview Grill overlooks the 18th.
Mission Hills Country Club is private
The Mission Hills Country Club Dinah Shore Tournament Course, with the club's Arnold Palmer and Pete Dye Challenge courses, is a private club owned by ClubCorp/Invited since 1993. Play is as a member's guest or through Invited reciprocal or member programs, with no public tee times. It is not connected to the Westin's Dye course or to Mission Hills - Gary Player, despite the shared name. See private golf clubs in Palm Springs.
Staying at the Westin Rancho Mirage for golf
- Resort fee: $40 per room per night (resortfeechecker.com, updated October 30, 2026). It includes the fitness center, pool, sporting facilities, bottled water and coffee, and one listing adds golf bag storage, driving range balls and mini golf.
- Parking: self-parking $15 plus tax per vehicle per stay, rising to $23 plus tax for stays from April 1, 2026 to December 31, 2029 (GolfPac listing).
- On site: pools including a waterslide, spa, fitness center, tennis and pickleball; Marriott Bonvoy points.
- For groups: easy multi-room bookings, and the Westin villas next door have kitchens.
The resort fee is one of the lower ones among the valley's golf resorts; the JW Marriott Desert Springs was listed at $51.30. The Gary Player course is not walkable from the hotel, about 30 minutes on foot per one listing. Room rates were not read. Compare in Palm Springs golf resorts.
Nearby value stays include Agua Caliente Rancho Mirage, a casino resort about 6 minutes from both public courses with a $30 nightly resort fee and free parking.
Timing a Westin Rancho Mirage golf trip
The middle of the valley is a sensible base for the January to April peak, but a few dates move prices. The American Express at PGA West (January 21 to 24, 2027) fills La Quinta and PGA West area rooms. The BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells (February 28 to March 14, 2027) and the March crush of snowbirds, spring breakers and Easter (March 28, 2027) make March the hardest month for tee times and rooms. November and early December are shoulder season, with the new greens settling in after November 3. See Palm Springs events.
Other Rancho Mirage area golf
- Omni Rancho Las Palmas: a 27-hole resort course (North, South and West nines) open to hotel guests and the public.
- Marriott's Shadow Ridge: Nick Faldo's first US design, on the Marriott's Shadow Ridge timeshare resort about 7 minutes from the Westin's Dye course.

Is it worth it?
Westin Rancho Mirage golf centres on the most central resort Dye layout in the valley, and the new greens give it a fresh start from November 2026. Because the price is dynamic and unpublished, compare a quote against the La Quinta resort courses and Desert Willow before booking. For a cheaper round nearby, the independent Gary Player course is a value play if recent reviews look good.
Plan it on the map
Open the Palm Springs golf map to see the Westin's Dye course, Mission Hills - Gary Player, the private Mission Hills clubs and the Rancho Mirage stays. The $30 plan places each round on a date it is open and can cover a whole winter with a weekly rotation.
