Rancho Mirage golf for visitors comes down to three courses: the Westin Rancho Mirage's Pete Dye Resort Course, the independent Mission Hills Gary Player course and the 27 holes at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas. The town's other 11 clubs, including Thunderbird and Mission Hills Country Club, are private, and Rancho Mirage Country Club closed in 2015.
Rancho Mirage sits in the middle of the valley, 17 to 23 minutes from downtown Palm Springs, which makes it a central base even if you play elsewhere. Fees were seen in 2026 and change by date.
Quick facts
- Bookable: 3 courses. Private or no public access: 11 clubs.
- What changed: the Gary Player course is now independent of the Westin; the Westin's Pete Dye course rebuilt its greens in 2026.
- Cheapest full 18 seen: Mission Hills Gary Player, $49.48 for August 16, 2026.
- Watch: the Omni course's renovation dates conflict between sources.
- Drive: 17 to 23 minutes from downtown Palm Springs, free-flow.

The Westin Pete Dye Resort Course
The Pete Dye course opened in 1987 around what is now the Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort & Spa. It is a par 70 with Dye's railroad-tie bulkheads, pot bunkers, mounding and water: friendly from the middle tees and a real test from the Black tees at 72.2/132.
The big news is the greens. The course closed from May 1 to August 27, 2026 for a championship greens project, which the resort describes as restoring Dye's original design, then closed again for fall overseed. It reopens on November 3, 2026. Reviews in recent seasons were mixed on conditioning, so judge it on post-November reports.
Booking: dynamic pricing on the resort golf site, which says booking direct carries no booking fee and that its best rates are for advance, off-peak times. Cancel at least 24 hours out. An undated listing gave weekday green fees of $89 to $158; treat it as old. The resort also sells a Palm Club membership (private cart use without trail fees, member range) at unpublished prices. See the Westin Pete Dye course guide and our Westin Rancho Mirage golf guide.
Mission Hills Gary Player
Gary Player's 1992 course, billed as his only design in the desert, is the longest Rancho Mirage round you can book at 7,062 yards. It has lakes, mounding and mountain views on generous resort-style fairways, a range, lessons and the Lakeview Grill over the 18th.
What changed: it used to be the Westin's second course. GolfNow now describes it as an independent facility, and it is not part of Mission Hills Country Club either, despite the name.
Price and condition: usually one of the cheaper full-length rounds in the middle of the valley, with hot deals around $50 with cart in summer and shoulder season. Conditioning has been the knock: a review from about August 2026 described poor greens and weedy rough, while a visitor on September 9, 2026 found it quiet and worth a return. It closed for fall overseed and says it plans to reopen "in November" with no date published. Coachella Valley Resident Golf Card holders book on a separate tee sheet. See the Gary Player course guide.
Omni Rancho Las Palmas
The Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa has 27 Ted Robinson Sr. holes from 1977, played as North, South and West nines in 18-hole pairings. It is short and flat, with lakes, palms and homes along tight fairways, and suits higher handicappers. Open to hotel guests and the public, and sold on GolfNow as Rancho Las Palmas Country Club.
Status: a $12 million renovation of all three nines was announced for February to October 2026, and Omni's golf page said the course would close on February 1, 2026. But GolfNow sold 2026 tee times and reviews ran to September 2026, and a Marriott listing now puts the closure at March to December 1, 2027. Call golf at 760-862-4551 ext. 2 before you plan around it.
Reviews in 2026 were split between good value on hot deals and hard greens, washouts on the North nine and slow play. Book a discounted time, and ask which two nines you will get; only the South/West pairing has published ratings.

Rancho Mirage Country Club: closed
Rancho Mirage Country Club was sold in early 2015 and closed in June 2015. Under an HOA settlement approved on November 10, 2017, the developer keeps about 25 acres for a hotel, spa and homes, about 80 acres go to the HOA, and the developer must build a short 18-hole course, expected to be at least a par-3 course and likely public, in phase one. No replacement course has been reported as built. See closed golf courses in Palm Springs.
Where to stay for Rancho Mirage golf
- The Westin: the Pete Dye course is next to the hotel, with Stay & Play packages.
- The Omni: 4 minutes from its own 27 holes.
- Agua Caliente Rancho Mirage: no course on site, but 6 minutes from the Westin course, Mission Hills Gary Player and Shadow Ridge.
- The Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage: no golf on site; guests are referred to sister property JW Marriott Desert Springs, about 15 minutes away.
- Holiday Inn Express Rancho Mirage and Hilton Garden Inn: side by side on Highway 111 at the Palm Desert line, 5 minutes from the Omni course and central for Palm Desert and Indian Wells.
Rancho Mirage hotels put you about 20 minutes from most of the valley, so you can mix in Desert Willow and the Desert Springs courses. See Palm Desert golf courses, Palm Springs golf resorts and where to stay in Palm Springs for golf. For cheaper rounds a few minutes west, read Cathedral City golf.

Questions golfers ask
What Rancho Mirage golf courses can the public play?
Three: the Pete Dye Resort Course at the Westin Rancho Mirage, the daily-fee Mission Hills Gary Player course and the 27-hole course at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas. The other 11 Rancho Mirage clubs on our map are private or have no verified public access.
Is the Gary Player course still part of the Westin?
No. GolfNow describes Mission Hills Gary Player as an independent facility that was once an amenity of the Westin Mission Hills Resort. The Pete Dye Resort Course is now the only course tied to the Westin. Neither is part of the private Mission Hills Country Club.
Can I play Mission Hills Country Club?
Only as a member's guest or through Invited (formerly ClubCorp) reciprocal and member programs. The club's Dinah Shore Tournament, Arnold Palmer and Pete Dye Challenge courses sell no public tee times.
Is the Westin Rancho Mirage golf course open?
It reopens from overseed on November 3, 2026, per the resort's golf site. It was also closed from May 1 to August 27, 2026 while its greens were rebuilt, so November 2026 brings the first rounds on the new greens.
Is the Omni Rancho Las Palmas golf course closed for renovation?
Records conflict, so call first. A $12 million renovation of all three nines was announced for February to October 2026, but GolfNow sold 2026 tee times and reviews ran into September 2026. A Marriott listing says the course closes from March to December 1, 2027 for the work.
How much does golf cost in Rancho Mirage?
Mission Hills Gary Player had a $53.99 hot deal with cart for September 24, 2026 and showed $49.48 for August 16, 2026. The Omni course showed $56.48 to $81.49 for June 17, 2026. The Westin prices dynamically and publishes no dollar amounts.
What happened to Rancho Mirage Country Club?
It closed in June 2015 after a sale. A 2017 HOA settlement requires the developer to build a short 18-hole course, expected to be at least a par-3 course and likely open to the public, in its first phase. No replacement course has been reported as built.
