Green-fee ranges: Palm Springs golf vacation rentals: golf communities, renter golf privileges and city rules

Palm Springs golf vacation rentals are condos and homes in the Coachella Valley's golf communities, rented by the week, month or season. The catch is golf access: few include it. Woodhaven gives registered renters a lower rate, Seven Lakes may let renters play through the owner, and most others charge extra or not at all.

City rules matter too. Palm Springs caps short-stay contracts and La Quinta permits rentals of 30 days or fewer, which pushes many owners toward month-long winter tenants. This guide to Palm Springs golf vacation rentals lists the main golf communities, the monthly prices seen, what renters get on the course, and the rules. Listings were seen November 2, 2026 and prices change.

Quick facts

  • Cheapest monthly seen: Desert Princess, about $1,800 a month on a six-month discount.
  • Peak winter monthly seen: about $4,200 to $4,395 at Desert Princess.
  • Renter golf rate published: Woodhaven, $98 morning for registered renters (public $115), November 6 to December 31, 2026.
  • No golf included: PGA West rentals, Palm Springs monthly rentals.
  • Palm Springs rule: stays under 28 nights need a city certificate; contract caps per permit.
  • La Quinta rule: rentals of 30 days or fewer need a city permit.

Desert Princess, Cathedral City

Desert Princess is an older, homeowner-owned club with 27 holes by David Rainville from 1985, played as three 18-hole rotations. It sells public tee times, with GolfNow hot deals of $80.99 to $126.99 plus a $3.49 fee for November 3-8, 2026 on the Cielo/Lagos rotation. It is 12 minutes from downtown Palm Springs.

Owner listings showed a 2-bed at $4,200 a month for February to April 2026, with cable, Wi-Fi and trash included; $3,750 a month for May to August; $4,395 on another listing; and a six-month discount of $1,800 a month. Renting requires a 30-day minimum with a contract required by the HOA on one listing, and some ask for renters insurance. Listings describe renter golf privileges as optional and extra; the club's own renter terms were not found. Best for snowbirds who want a golf-course condo near Palm Springs at a long-stay price.

Palm Desert: Woodhaven, Palm Desert Resort and Sun City

Woodhaven has the clearest published renter deal. The par-70 community course, owned by its homeowners since 2011, publishes three rates for November 6 to December 31, 2026:

Player Morning 12:30 pm 2:30 pm
Public$115$75$50
Registered renter, homeowner guest or member guest$98$60$50
Homeowner$88$60$49

Register with the HOA to get the renter rate. Woodhaven is 26 minutes from downtown Palm Springs.

Palm Desert Resort Country Club is one of the cheaper golf communities in Palm Desert, with about 20 saltwater pools and spas, 9 tennis and 14 pickleball courts. Long-term unfurnished 2-bed leases ran about $2,200 to $2,275 a month; furnished winter rentals cost more. Furnished Finder listings add a $250 cleaning fee ($500 for six months or more) and a $500 refundable deposit. Its 18-hole course is playable for an added fee, and GolfNow showed $39.99 to $53.99 with cart in September 2026.

Sun City Palm Desert is a large 55+ community with two pay-as-you-play courses at Mountain Vista, Seasonal Rate Lock programs and no annual membership needed. One listing showed a four-month seasonal minimum. Tenants pay HOA transponder and ID card fees, and whether they get resident golf pricing was not confirmed. The public rate on GolfLink was $63.48 to $115.49 for November 3, 2026.

PGA West and La Quinta

Renting at PGA West puts you beside the Stadium course, but golf is booked and paid separately unless the owner says otherwise. One listing says guests may not use the course without a tee time arranged with PGA West. Homes managed by La Quinta Resort Leasing give guests use of La Quinta Resort facilities, about 5 miles away; resort golf rates for those renters were not confirmed. The PGA West Stadium and Nicklaus Tournament courses are public, and the private PGA West courses need a member.

La Quinta treats rentals of 30 days or fewer as short-term rentals needing a city permit, so look for the permit number on short listings. Monthly prices come by quote. Read La Quinta golf courses and PGA West golf.

Indian Wells and the resident card

Indian Wells Golf Resort Resident Benefit Card holders pay $50 from January 1 to April 30 and $35 from May 1 to December 31, and can book guests at a resident guest rate. The card costs $45 to $50, depending on the source. That is the best regular deal in the valley for the redesigned Players Course, but whether a seasonal renter can get the card is the open question: the city's policy mentions renters, but the documents and lease length were not found. Ask City Hall before signing. See Palm Springs golf passes.

Palm Springs itself

Palm Springs monthly rentals include many mid-century homes with private pools, and none include golf. The city's rules shape the market:

  • Short-term vacation rentals need a city certificate.
  • New permit holders are capped at 26 contracts per calendar year. A late-2025 council vote kept 32 plus third-quarter contracts for older permits issued before October 2022. Junior permits get 6 a year.
  • Stays of 28 nights or more are reported to carry no city transient occupancy tax. Whether they count against the cap was not confirmed in a city document.

The caps push many owners toward month-long winter bookings, which fill early. The nearest public golf is Tahquitz Creek, Escena and Indian Canyons, 7 to 10 minutes from downtown. In the Seven Lakes condo community, 9 minutes from downtown, a 2024-25 sheet showed resident-guest rates of about $49 for 18 in season at the private Seven Lakes course, so renters there may get access through the owner.

Marriott villas

Marriott's Shadow Ridge has Nick Faldo's first US design, Shadow Ridge Golf Club, on site, and full-kitchen villas that sleep a foursome. Note the Villages interior renovation from April 27 to November 19, 2026. Marriott's Desert Springs Villas sit beside the JW Marriott courses, but rent from owners by the week: a studio was $198 a night for July 2027 and a 2-bed $478 a night for April 2027, over $14,000 for 30 nights. Better for two weeks than a season.

Questions to ask before you sign

Before booking any of these Palm Springs golf vacation rentals, ask the owner:

  1. Is golf included, and at what rate? Get it in writing.
  2. Does the HOA need a contract, registration, transponder or ID card, and who pays?
  3. Is there a city permit number, if the stay is under 28 nights in Palm Springs or 30 days or fewer in La Quinta?
  4. Are there cleaning fees, deposits or renters insurance requirements?
  5. Is the course open for the 2026-27 season, and when does it close for overseed?

Questions golfers ask

Do Palm Springs golf vacation rentals include golf?

Rarely by default. Woodhaven gives HOA-registered renters a lower rate, Seven Lakes renters may get resident-guest play through the owner, and Desert Princess and Palm Desert Resort Country Club listings offer golf for an added fee. PGA West rentals do not include golf; ask the owner in writing before you sign.

How much is a monthly golf condo rental near Palm Springs?

Listings seen November 2, 2026: Desert Princess in Cathedral City from about $1,800 a month on a six-month discount to $4,395, with a 2-bed at $4,200 a month for February to April 2026. Palm Desert Resort Country Club unfurnished 2-bed leases ran about $2,200 to $2,275. Furnished winter months cost more.

What are the Palm Springs vacation rental rules?

Stays under 28 nights need a city vacation rental certificate, and stays of 28 nights or more are reported to carry no city transient occupancy tax. New permit holders are capped at 26 contracts a year, older pre-October 2022 permits at 32 plus third-quarter contracts, and junior permits at 6. Check the listing shows a city permit number.

What are the La Quinta rental rules for PGA West?

La Quinta treats rentals of 30 days or fewer as short-term rentals that need a city permit, per a city document quoting Municipal Code 3.25.030. Look for the permit number on short-term listings. Stays over 30 days fall outside that definition.

Can a seasonal renter get Indian Wells resident golf rates?

Unclear. Golf Resident Benefit Card holders pay $50 from January 1 to April 30 and $35 from May 1 to December 31 at Indian Wells Golf Resort. The city's card policy mentions renters, but the documents and lease length needed were not found, so ask City Hall before you sign a lease.

Is a Marriott villa a good snowbird rental?

Better for a week or two than a season. Marriott's Desert Springs Villas rent from owners by the week; a 2-bed was $478 a night for 7 nights in April 2027 on RedWeek, which works out over $14,000 for 30 nights. No monthly or snowbird rate was found.

When should I book a winter golf rental in Palm Springs?

Early. Palm Springs' contract caps push many owners toward month-long winter tenants, and those bookings fill first. The snowbird season runs about November to April and peaks January to March.
