The key number: Prestwick Country Club: how visitors get a tee time

Prestwick Country Club is a Pete and P.B. Dye member club on the south side of Myrtle Beach that sells a limited number of public tee times. You book through the club's own online tee sheet, GolfNow or a package operator, and should book early, because members come first and Saturdays sell out. Fees seen in fall 2026 ran about $111 to $146.

It also won both of the 2025 course-of-the-year awards given by the local and state course owners. This guide covers how to get on, what it cost when we checked, the tees and where to base yourself.

Quick facts

  • Access: semi-private. Members first; limited public tee times.
  • Design: Pete Dye and P.B. Dye, opened 1989, par 72.
  • Back tees: 7,086 yards, 74.7 rating, 138 slope.
  • Address: 1001 Links Rd, Myrtle Beach. Phone 843-293-4100.
  • Drive: about 14 minutes and 6.3 miles from the SkyWheel.
  • Awards: 2025 Golf Course of the Year from both the Myrtle Beach Area and the South Carolina golf course owners associations.
  • Grass: bermuda greens and fairways (green variety not published).

Is Prestwick Country Club public?

Prestwick is a member club that sells public times. The club's own wording is that it "has the look and feel of a private club, but is open to the public." GolfPass is blunter and calls non-member play extremely limited.

In practice that means the public inventory is real but thin. When we looked on November 1, 2026, Saturday, November 7 had already sold out on GolfNow. If your group has a fixed date in spring or fall, book it as soon as your trip is set.

Prestwick is not the same as a private club like The Dunes. You do not need a member, a sponsor or a particular hotel. You just need a time that members have not taken. Our guide to private golf clubs in Myrtle Beach covers the clubs where that is not true.

How to book a Prestwick tee time

There are three routes:

  1. The club's online tee sheet. This is the rack-rate route, with cart included. On November 1, 2026 it already showed times for mid-April 2027, so the club opens its sheet more than five months ahead. No limit is stated.
  2. GolfNow. Prestwick was added to GolfNow's Myrtle Beach lineup in 2026. Hot Deals there can undercut the club's own price. Some GolfNow times are resold by GolfNow rather than sold by the club, and those are refundable only if you cancel 24 or more hours ahead.
  3. A golf package. Package operators sell Prestwick alongside other courses and a room. Our Myrtle Beach golf packages guide explains how that compares with booking direct.

For how the booking systems differ around the Strand, see Myrtle Beach tee times.

Prestwick Country Club rates by season

These are prices seen on November 1, 2026 on the club's own online tee sheet, unless marked GolfNow. Prestwick uses dynamic pricing, so the same day can cost more or less by the time you book. One or two days were sampled per season.

In summer, a GolfNow listing for August 8, 2026 showed a $59 prepaid Hot Deal with cart.

Mid-April was the most expensive sample, late March and early November came next, and January was cheapest. Summer 2027 rates were not loaded when we checked. For the wider picture, see Myrtle Beach golf rates.

The Prestwick layout

The Dyes built Prestwick "in the classic Scottish tradition," as the club puts it. The front nine runs through trees. The back nine is more open and takes more wind. Water comes into play on eight holes.

It is a full-size test from the back but has a wide spread of tees, which matters for a mixed group.

Tee Yards Men (rating/slope) Women (rating/slope)
Black7,08674.7 / 138
Blue6,74473.0 / 134
White6,34771.1 / 126
Green5,86369.0 / 116
Red5,21071.9 / 121
Tan4,62469.5 / 109

Tee data comes from GolfPass, not the USGA database, and the Tan tee's gender is assumed from its length. A 10 to 15 handicap will enjoy the Whites. Save the Blacks for the low-single-digit player in the group.

The greens are bermuda, but the files do not say which variety, and Prestwick's overseed policy is not published. If winter colour matters to you, ask the shop before a December to February round. Our winter conditions guide explains what dormant bermuda plays like.

The south side suits RV snowbirds especially well. Our Myrtle Beach RV resorts guide compares the parks.

Other courses near Prestwick

If Prestwick is sold out, these are close by. Drive times are from the SkyWheel.

Most of those sit around Murrells Inlet, covered in our Murrells Inlet golf guide.

Is Prestwick Country Club worth it?

For a group based on the south side, yes. It is closer to central Myrtle Beach than the Murrells Inlet courses, it won both 2025 course-of-the-year awards, and its fall afternoon price of $111 on the club tee sheet was below TPC Myrtle Beach's $121 GolfNow price the same week. The catch is availability. If you want a Saturday morning in April, you need to book months out, and you may still lose out to members.
