The rules that shape a winter week

Day of week matters at Barefoot. Its walk-on table prices Thursday to Sunday mornings higher than Sunday afternoon to Tuesday, with Wednesday on its own rate. For January 4 to February 9, 2027 that is $108 against $95. Between November 23, 2026 and January 3, 2027 it is $129 against $109.

Time of day matters everywhere. The sampled January 14, 2027 rates on course booking sites drop in the afternoon: Prestwick $103 early to $77 after noon, Blackmoor $69 to $59 after 1 pm, and Azalea Sands $45.10 to $35.10 after 2 pm. In winter, a 10 am to noon start often gets both thawed greens and a lower rate.

The Dunes Club has a narrow window. Guest times are limited, the club closes Mondays for maintenance in winter, and unaccompanied guests are barred Fridays, Saturdays and holiday weekends. See who can play the Dunes Club.

Holiday weeks are busier. Thanksgiving (November 26, 2026) and Christmas-New Year week bring families and higher lodging rates. Early January to mid-February is the quietest stretch.

Rotation 1: north-end base

For Sea Watch, Ocean Creek, Kingston or Myrtle Beach Travel Park. Arcadian Shores is 2 to 4 minutes from the Travel Park, Kingston and Sea Watch, and the Dunes Club 7 to 10. Barefoot is 7 minutes from Ocean Creek and 10 to 13 from the others.

Why it works: the Barefoot courses fall on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the cheaper tier, and if you book all four as a set the 25% multi-round discount applies to each. The Dunes Club sits on a Thursday, one of its guest days (Sunday also works). Pine Lakes, the Grande Dunes Resort Course and King's North were named among wall-to-wall overseeded courses for winter 2025-26 (2026-27 not confirmed), so they give green weeks among the dormant ones. Rotation 2: south-side base

For Landmark, Ocean Lakes, Lakewood or the state park campground. From Ocean Lakes, Prestwick is 7 minutes, Blackmoor 15 and Indigo Creek 16.

Sampled winter rates for these courses on Thursday, January 14, 2027 (course booking sites, cart included): Wachesaw East $72.50 in the morning, the International Club $85, Blackmoor $69 and Prestwick $103. Indigo Creek's rate card shows $55 AM and $45 PM from December 1 to February 14 (year not stated, plus taxes and fees), though 2026 reviews flag poor greens. Caledonia and True Blue are 40 and 38 minutes from the SkyWheel, so they are once-a-week rounds from a south Myrtle Beach base. Caledonia and True Blue share an owner and sell a two-course special that needs one round at each within seven days.

Adjusting the schedule month by month

A snowbird golf schedule for Myrtle Beach should shift with the calendar:

• November: fall rates are still falling. Barefoot starts at $158 and $125 from November 9 to 22, 2026, then $129 and $109 from November 23. Tidewater overseeds around Thanksgiving, so expect temporary conditions there for a couple of weeks.
• December: quiet until Christmas-New Year week, which brings families and busier tee sheets.
• January: the coldest month (36.7F normal low). Push every start to mid-morning and keep the spare day.
• February: add Barefoot rounds in the $98 week, February 10-16, 2027.
• March: spring prices arrive. Barefoot starts at $205-$227 for March 11-24, 2027, Can-Am Days and spring breaks fill courses, and monthly condos at Sea Watch and Ocean Creek check out by March 25, 2027. Book March rounds early or play value courses.

How to book a winter month

1. Lock the marquee rounds first. Barefoot as a four-course set, any Dunes Club guest time and Caledonia.
2. Book value rounds a week or two out. The Omnitech course booking sites (Prestwick, Blackmoor, Wachesaw East, International Club, Azalea Sands) already showed April 2027 times on November 1, 2026.
3. Keep a spare day. Winter brings rain on about 9 to 10 days a month; move a value round rather than a prepaid one.
4. Call to skip fees. Azalea Sands says calling the shop avoids online convenience fees.
5. Check cancellation terms. Barefoot needs 72 hours' notice per foursome; GolfNow times often need 24 to 72 hours.
