Slope ladder: A snowbird golf schedule for Destin: weekly rotations for value and conditions

A good snowbird golf schedule for Destin starts from your base. From a Sandestin rental, play the Links and Baytowne on the $45 snowbird card two or three times a week and the Raven at $65 before January. From Okaloosa Island, use Shalimar Pointe's snowbird membership plus the city courses and their free winter leagues.

This guide sets out three sample weekly rotations, what each costs and how to fit them around winter conditions.

Card rates are plus tax. Week C uses public rates, which vary by date and time.

Week A: the Sandestin snowbird card

This week suits a couple renting directly through Sandestin Rentals for a month or more. The resort's Winter Guest package covers 28-plus-night stays from October to March with no resort fees.

  • The Links and Baytowne, 3 minutes from the resort, are the backbone at $45 a round from November to January and $49 in February and March. Cardholders also get nine holes after 1 PM at half rate.
  • The Raven, the best of Sandestin's public courses, is $65 on the card in November and December. From January the card's Raven rate was not listed, and the regular winter rate was $109 public or $95 for resort guests.
  • Booking: 7 days ahead on the card, so set a weekly reminder.

On the card rates, Week A's three 18-hole rounds at the Links and Baytowne plus one Raven round in November come to $200 plus tax, before the half-rate nine. Renting through another agency instead, the Winter Player's Club gives $50 and $75 rates in November and December with a 5-day window.

Watch for: the Links closed November 3-9, 2026 and Baytowne November 2-8, 2026 for greens overseeding, with discounted rates in the recovery weeks. See the Links course guide and the Raven course guide.

Week B: Okaloosa Island and the membership

This week suits a stay at the Destin West Beach & Bay Resort monthly condos or Destin West RV Resort, each about 16 to 21 minutes from all three courses below.

  • Shalimar Pointe: the snowbird membership runs October 1 to March 31. Single: $450 for one month, $800 for two, $1,150 for three, $1,800 for six. Family: $525, $1,000, $1,475 and $2,400. Tax extra. It includes unlimited golf with cart, practice facilities, 4-week booking and 10% off in the shop. Three rounds a week for 12 weeks on the three-month plan works out under $32 a round before tax. Greens were rebuilt to TifEagle in 2023. See the Shalimar Pointe course guide.
  • Fort Walton Beach Golf Club: the city's Pines and Oaks use dynamic pricing; August 2026 deals were around $37 to $43 with cart. Members pay 50%. A Snowbird Membership Special is advertised, terms not published. The free Winter Spark leagues on Thursdays and Sundays are an easy way to meet regular partners. See the FWB Pines course guide.
  • Gator Lakes: get the six-month civilian pass at the Hurlburt Field Visitor Control Center on a non-golf day, then book 10 days ahead. The civilian green fee is not published online.

Week C: east Destin and the semi-private clubs

This week suits a Newman-Dailey condo in east Destin, such as Crystal Dunes by Henderson Beach. There is no snowbird card, so you pay daily rates, but the courses are close and strong.

Winter rates for these courses were not published, so these are fall deal prices. Afternoon times are the value play: Indian Bayou's drop to about $75, half a prime morning slot.

Fitting the schedule to winter conditions

  • Cold mornings: NOAA normals give January lows of 45.3F at the Destin airport and 38.0F at Niceville, where frost delays are possible. Put bay-side rounds such as Shalimar and Rocky Bayou mid-morning.
  • Short days: a 1 PM start in November needs a steady pace to finish before dark.
  • Wind: January is the windiest month at the Destin airport, averaging 7.7 mph.
  • Turf: many local courses let bermuda go dormant from about December to March; tan but playable.
  • Busy slots: local courses and senior leagues are busiest on weekday mornings in snowbird season.

Mixing in a splurge round

Once or twice a season, add a round you cannot get on a card. Burnt Pine at Sandestin is for members and registered resort guests after 1 PM, at $149 from November 2, 2026. The Watersound Club courses on east 30A are $295 a round for Camp Creek Inn and Watersound Inn guests and rest on set days: Camp Creek Monday, Shark's Tooth Tuesday and The Third Wednesday. See our Watersound Club golf guide.

Weeks to plan around

  • Thanksgiving (November 26, 2026) and Christmas to New Year: family rental demand.
  • 30A Songwriters Festival, January 15-18, 2027: fills 30A and Grand Boulevard.
  • Mardi Gras, February 9, 2027: small local parades and some afternoon road closures in downtown Fort Walton Beach.
  • Early March: spring break begins and green fees climb; the Links and Baytowne card rates run to March 31, 2027.

Our Destin winter golf guide covers the season, Destin snowbird rentals the condos and Destin RV resorts the parks. For rates course by course, see Destin golf rates.
