Drive lines from downtown Mesquite: The Mesquite St. George Time Difference: How to Book Tee Times in Both Towns

The Mesquite St. George time difference is one hour, all year: St. George, Utah (Mountain Time) is always one hour ahead of Mesquite, Nevada (Pacific). Daylight saving never changes it, because both states switch on the same dates. The trap is booking tee times in both towns, since each course lists times on its own local clock.

This guide is for golfers combining the two towns. If you only need the Arizona side (Palms and Beaver Dam), read Mesquite Nevada time zone for golfers.

Quick facts

  • Mesquite: Pacific Time (America/Los_Angeles), PST UTC-8 in winter, PDT UTC-7 in summer. Same as Las Vegas.
  • St. George: Mountain Time (America/Denver), MST UTC-7 in winter, MDT UTC-6 in summer. One hour behind Calgary and Edmonton from Nov 1, 2026 to Mar 14, 2027, and the same as them from Mar 14, 2027.
  • Gap: one hour, all year. St. George is ahead.
  • Arizona between them: MST all year, so it matches St. George in winter and Mesquite in summer.
  • 2026-27 clock changes: Sun Nov 1, 2026 (back); Sun Mar 14, 2027 (forward); Sun Nov 7, 2027 (back).
  • Drive: about 40 to 45 minutes on I-15 through the Virgin River Gorge.

Why the Mesquite St. George time difference never changes

Nevada and Utah both use daylight saving and switch on the same days: in 2026 it began Sunday, March 8 and ends Sunday, November 1 at 2:00 AM; in 2027 it begins Sunday, March 14 and ends Sunday, November 7. So the one-hour gap holds year-round.

What does change is Arizona, which sits between them on I-15 and does not use daylight saving.

In other words, in winter the Arizona strip keeps St. George's time; in summer it keeps Mesquite's.

The booking trap: tee times in two towns

The Nevada course records in Mesquite carry the same warning: tee times are Mesquite local time, so a 9:00 tee time is 10:00 on a St. George clock. St. George courses list their own Mountain times. Online booking engines do not convert for you.

Where it goes wrong:

  • You stay in St. George and your phone shows St. George time. You see "9:00" on a Mesquite confirmation and leave at 8:15 St. George time, arriving an hour early. That is the harmless mistake.
  • You stay in Mesquite and book an 8:00 AM round in St. George. That is 7:00 AM in Mesquite. Leave at 7:15 Mesquite time and you arrive about an hour late. That is the expensive one: Mesquite courses charge for late cancellations and no-shows (Wolf Creek charges full rack rate for a no-show, and Coyote Springs charges a no-show fee inside 48 hours), and St. George courses have their own rules.

The fix for the Mesquite St. George time difference is simple: next to every tee time, write the clock. "Oasis 9:00 PT." "St. George 8:00 MT."

Worked examples

Staying in St. George, 10:00 AM tee time at Oasis. That is 11:00 AM on your St. George phone. The Oasis clubhouse is 5 minutes from downtown Mesquite, and St. George is 40 to 45 minutes away, so leave St. George by about 10:00 AM St. George time for a calm warm-up. The Mesquite golf day trip from St. George guide covers that drive.

Staying in Mesquite, 8:00 AM tee time in St. George. That is 7:00 AM Mesquite time. Leave Mesquite by about 5:45 AM Pacific, which puts you at the course around 7:30 AM St. George time. Allow extra for the Virgin River Gorge, where crashes or lane work can back traffic up for an hour; Arizona DOT posts work at az511.gov.

Flying out of St. George. St. George Regional (SGU) is Mountain Time and about 54 minutes from Mesquite. A 5:00 PM departure is 4:00 PM in Mesquite. Finish a Mesquite round at 1:30 PM and it is already 2:30 PM at the airport.

36 holes across both towns: use the time difference, go south in the afternoon

If you want a round in each town on the same day, the direction matters.

St. George morning, Mesquite afternoon (gain an hour). Finish in St. George at 12:30 PM Mountain. That is 11:30 AM in Mesquite, and after 40 to 45 minutes of driving you arrive around 12:15 PM Pacific. That lines up with Mesquite's afternoon rates, seen October 2026:

Mesquite course Afternoon rate seen From
Oasis Palmer / Canyons$130About 1 PM in October, noon in November 2026
CasaBlanca$100 ($90 from Nov 18)1:00 PM late Oct; about noon in November
Falcon Ridge$125, then $110, then $92.50About 1:30, 2:40 and 3:40 PM in October 2026
Wolf Creek$310About 1:10 to 1:30 PM, Oct 24-30, 2026

Wolf Creek and Falcon Ridge say finishing 18 is not guaranteed on their afternoon rates, and Wolf Creek warns its average pace will exceed five hours, so it is a poor second round.

Mesquite morning, St. George afternoon (lose an hour). Finish in Mesquite at noon Pacific and it is 1:00 PM in St. George; with the drive you arrive about 1:45 PM Mountain. You can still make a mid-afternoon tee time, but you have lost daylight. The St. George site's twilight golf in St. George guide lists its afternoon rates.

For Mesquite's afternoon pricing in detail, see twilight golf in Mesquite.

Arizona in the middle: Palms and Beaver Dam

Two Mesquite-area courses are in Arizona:

  • Palms Golf Club, Littlefield: run by Mesquite Gaming and booked through the same engine as CasaBlanca. One published note says the Palms tee sheet runs on Mesquite (Pacific) time, but other notes say Arizona tee times run on Arizona time in winter, and the point has not been verified. From Nov 1 to Mar 14 that is a one-hour difference, so ask the shop. The Palms course guide has the rest.
  • Beaver Dam Lodge: the lodge's golf page lists its tee-time hours in Arizona time (the page was last updated for 2021-22, so confirm). In winter, an 8:00 AM Arizona tee time is 7:00 AM in Mesquite and 8:00 AM in St. George.

Driving down from St. George in winter, your clock does not change when you cross into Arizona; it drops an hour at the Nevada line. In summer it drops an hour at the Arizona line instead.

Other clocks golfers trip on

  • Hotel check-in. Mesquite hotels list Pacific times (CasaBlanca and Eureka check in at 4:00 PM, Hampton at 3:00 PM). If your St. George hotel checks you out at 11:00 AM Mountain, that is 10:00 AM in Mesquite.
  • Zion National Park. Zion is on Mountain Time. The Zion Canyon shuttle runs 7 AM to 5 PM from the visitor center from Oct 25 to Nov 28, which is 6 AM to 4 PM on a Mesquite clock. See Zion and Mesquite golf.
  • Alberta visitors. Alberta stops changing its clocks on Nov 1, 2026, so from Nov 1, 2026 to Mar 14, 2027 Mesquite is two hours behind Calgary and Edmonton and St. George is one hour behind. From Mar 14, 2027 Mesquite is one hour behind and St. George keeps Alberta's time.
  • Phones. Near the state lines, phones can pick up an Arizona or Utah tower and show the wrong time. If yours jumps an hour, set it to the town you are playing in manually.

A checklist for a two-town trip

  1. Write PT or MT next to every tee time, hotel time and flight.
  2. Book St. George mornings and Mesquite afternoons on 36-hole days.
  3. For SGU flights, convert to Mesquite time before you plan your last round.
  4. Ask Palms which clock it uses between Nov 1 and Mar 14.
  5. Leave 15 minutes of slack for the Virgin River Gorge.

For the full split-stay plan, see our Mesquite and St. George golf itinerary and the Mesquite vs St. George golf comparison; the Oasis courses, a common first stop, are in the Oasis course guide.

Questions golfers ask

What is the time difference between Mesquite and St. George?

One hour. St. George, Utah is on Mountain Time and Mesquite, Nevada on Pacific Time, so St. George is always one hour ahead. A 9:00 AM tee time in Mesquite is 10:00 AM on a St. George clock.

Does the time difference change with daylight saving?

No. Nevada and Utah change their clocks on the same dates, so the gap stays one hour all year. In 2026 daylight time ends Sunday, Nov 1; in 2027 it begins Sunday, Mar 14 and ends Sunday, Nov 7.

Are tee times in Mesquite listed in Pacific or Mountain time?

Mesquite's Nevada courses run on Pacific Time, and the course records note that tee times are Mesquite local time. St. George courses use Mountain Time. Always read a tee time on the clock of the town the course is in.

What time zone is the Virgin River Gorge in?

The Gorge is in Arizona, which stays on Mountain Standard Time all year. From early November to mid-March that matches St. George; from mid-March to early November it matches Mesquite. The BLM's Virgin River Canyon Recreation Area is on Arizona time.

Is Palms Golf Club on Mesquite time or Arizona time?

Palms is in Littlefield, Arizona. One published note says its tee sheet runs on Mesquite (Pacific) time, but that is not confirmed for winter, when Arizona is one hour ahead of Mesquite (Nov 1, 2026 to Mar 14, 2027). Ask the shop when you book and write the clock on your confirmation.

Is it better to play St. George in the morning and Mesquite in the afternoon?

For a 36-hole day across both towns, yes. Driving south you gain an hour, so a round that ends at 12:30 PM in St. George leaves you in Mesquite around 12:15 PM Pacific after a 40 to 45 minute drive, in time for the afternoon rates that start around noon to 1 PM. Going north you lose an hour.

What time is the St. George airport compared with Mesquite?

St. George Regional (SGU) is on Mountain Time, one hour ahead of Mesquite. A 5:00 PM SGU departure is 4:00 PM in Mesquite, and the drive is about 54 minutes. Las Vegas (LAS) is on Pacific Time, the same as Mesquite.
