Map of the courses in this guide: Easiest golf courses Mesquite for high handicappers: short tees, low slopes

The easiest golf courses in Mesquite for high handicappers are Conestoga, CasaBlanca and the Palms, whose men's forward tees slope 106 to 117, plus the Oasis Palmer, whose men's Red tees slope just 100. Beginners should try the 9-hole Coyote Willows first. Approach Wolf Creek and Coyote Springs carefully.

Quick facts

  • Lowest 18-hole slope: Oasis Palmer men's Red tees, 4,272 yards, 62.4/100
  • Lowest slope at a regular forward length: Conestoga Copper/Jade, 5,346 yards, 65.7/111
  • Flattest and most cart-friendly: CasaBlanca, where carts can reach most of the course
  • Wide fairways: the Palms front nine, and Coyote Springs, though it is long
  • Best for beginners: Coyote Willows, 9 holes, $50 (seen October 2026)
  • Hardest to avoid trouble: Wolf Creek, even from its forward tees
  • Source: USGA ratings and slopes, checked October 2026

What makes a course easy for a high handicapper?

Slope is the best single number: it shows how much harder a course plays for a bogey golfer than for a scratch player. But high handicappers also care about forced carries, places you can't retrieve a ball, how close carts can get, and how wide the fairways are. A short course with canyon carries can be harder for a 25 handicap than a longer, open one. That is why this list of the easiest golf courses in Mesquite for high handicappers looks at the hazards and cart rules as well as the numbers.

The easiest golf courses in Mesquite for high handicappers, ranked

1. Conestoga: low slopes at every length

Conestoga is the longest course in town from the tips, but it has eight rated sets of tees, and the forward ones are the gentlest regular-length tees in Mesquite: Copper 5,792 yards at 117, Copper/Jade 5,346 at 111 and Jade 4,995 at 107. The front nine is the dramatic side, with cliffs and arroyos; the back plays more traditionally. The green fee includes the cart and range balls, with two carts per foursome. Fall 2026 public rates were $205-$300 published, and summer drops to $80-$120 (June 22 to August 30, 2026). The director of golf advises moving up one set of tees for a first round. See the Conestoga course guide and the Sun City Mesquite golf guide.

2. CasaBlanca: flat and cart-friendly

A flat river-bottom course along the Virgin River. Water is in play on 13 holes, but reviewers say that from the forward tees the water is mostly visual and the bunkers are the real threat. Unlike most Mesquite courses, carts can reach most of the course, which helps anyone who struggles with long walks to the ball. The Hearts tees play 5,158 yards at 114 for men and 122 for women. Fall 2026 mornings were $160, dropping to $130 from November 18 (seen October 2026). Go early: afternoon wind is the course's main defense. The CasaBlanca course guide has the rest.

3. Palms: wide front nine

The Palms in Littlefield, Arizona has a resort front nine with wide fairways and palms, then a desert canyon back nine with big drops where placement beats power. The Red tees (4,703 yards, 106 for men) and Gold tees (5,506 yards, 116) are both forgiving numbers. It is also the cheapest of the big four here at $134 for fall 2026 mornings, then $109 from about November 19. The Palms course guide covers the Arizona time-zone catch.

4. Oasis Palmer: the lowest slopes, with a catch

The Palmer's forward tees carry the lowest 18-hole slopes in town (100, 103 and 108 for men from Red, Gold/Red and Gold), and the club rates the Canyons, not the Palmer, as the harder of its two courses. The catches for a high handicapper: environmentally sensitive areas marked with red stakes on #5, #6, #7 and #8 are no-entry, so a ball in there is gone; the cart rule is 90 degrees on par 4s and 5s and cart-path-only on par 3s; and the dress code bans denim even on the range. The range is cheap ($5 for 30 balls). Fall 2026 mornings were $190.

5. Falcon Ridge: shorter, with tiered greens

Tagged on our map as a mid-handicap course, Falcon Ridge is the shortest 18 from the tips (6,303 yards). The Gold tees play 5,191 yards at 114 for men, and the Maroon 4,351 yards at 112. Expect raised tees on high plateaus, water and multi-tiered greens, and brand-new back-nine greens, which are likely to play firm in their first season. Late twilight is cheap: $92.50 from about 3:40 PM in October 2026.

Use the combo tees

Several Mesquite courses have rated combination tees that mix two sets, which is often the sweet spot for a high handicapper who finds the regular forward tees too short and the next set too long. Conestoga has Copper/Jade (5,346 yards, 111) and Silver/Copper (6,050 yards, 123); the Oasis Palmer has Gold/Red (4,664 yards, 103) and White/Gold (5,313 yards, 116); the Oasis Canyons has Gold/Red (4,939 yards, 110); Falcon Ridge has Silver/Gold (5,353 yards, 117); and the Palms has White/Gold (5,930 yards, 122). Ask the starter how the combo is marked on the course.

A three-round plan for high handicappers

Putting the easiest golf courses in Mesquite for high handicappers into a short trip, with tees and prices seen October 23, 2026 (fall rates; they change):

Day Round Tees Yards Men slope Fall 2026 rate
1, afternoonCoyote Willows (9 holes)Red or Gold2,141-2,41095-109$50
2PalmsGold5,506116$134
3CasaBlancaHearts5,158114$160
4ConestogaCopper/Jade5,346111$205-$300 published

That is $549 to $644 per golfer for three 18s and a warm-up nine, with carts included at all four. Each round is on a course with low forward slopes, and the order builds from the gentlest setting to the strongest course. If the budget allows a fifth day, add the Oasis Palmer from the Gold/Red tees (4,664 yards, 103) at $190, remembering the no-entry areas on #5 to #8.

The courses to approach carefully

  • Wolf Creek. Even the Signature tees (4,809 yards, 116) have the canyon carries and narrow targets the course is known for, and the women's slope from there is 133. It is worth playing for the views, but pick the Classics or Signature tees and expect five-plus hours. See the Wolf Creek golf course review.
  • Coyote Springs. Wide fairways help, but the shortest men's tees are 5,705 yards at 121, water is in play on 11 holes and the greens are fast and steeply contoured.
  • Oasis Canyons. Its men's forward slopes look low (102 from the Red), but the club rates it harder than the Palmer, the back nine demands carries to narrow targets, and women's slopes run 125 to 145.

Those three aside, every 18-hole Mesquite NV course has forward tees a high handicapper can enjoy. The full ranking is in the hardest golf courses in Mesquite.

For beginners: the two nines

  • Coyote Willows: a regulation-length nine, par 35, by the river. The men's Red tees rate 31.3/95, the gentlest in the area. $50 for nine holes on every sampled date from October 24 to November 23, 2026, with rental clubs on site. Read the Coyote Willows guide.
  • Beaver Dam Lodge: nine par 3s, about 1,000 yards total, in Beaver Dam, Arizona. It isn't rated, publishes no fees, and its 2026 operation is not confirmed, so call 928-347-2222 first.

Tips for high handicappers in Mesquite

  • Play forward. Every course here has at least one set of tees under 5,200 yards except Coyote Springs.
  • Avoid the wind. Morning tee times are calmer, especially at CasaBlanca and Coyote Springs.
  • Use the range. Conestoga and Coyote Springs include range balls with a round; Oasis buckets cost $5 to $12.
  • Rent if you're unsure. Conestoga has TaylorMade rentals, Oasis has Srixon and Cleveland sets ($75, $50 twilight), and Coyote Willows has rental clubs.
  • Bring extra balls for Oasis and Wolf Creek, where some hazards can't be entered or reached.
  • Pick the season. Summer is the cheapest time to learn (Conestoga $80-$120), but highs run about 104 to 109 F; book dawn tee times.
