What kind of course is Coyote Willows?

Coyote Willows is a regulation-length neighborhood nine on the Virgin River bottomlands at about 1,550 feet, the lowest course in town, down on the river ground rather than in the canyons up the hill. The Southern Nevada Golf Association describes it as "small with big, challenging holes," and the course site lists a 590-yard longest hole from the tips.

Two holes to know:

  • #8 is the club's signature hole, a risk-reward hole by its own description.
  • #9 is a tough finishing par 3, with water and reeds guarding a green that reviewers say is barely visible from the blue tees.

The course has had a hard history. It survived two floods and the housing bust and was run by volunteers for about nine years. CW Investment Group bought it in November 2017 and added gas carts.

How much does Coyote Willows golf course in Mesquite cost?

The online rack rate was $50 for 9 holes on every date sampled from October 24 to November 23, 2026 (seen October 23, 2026). There was no cheaper twilight price; the rate stayed $50 at every online time. The engine also offers an 18-hole option, but no 18-hole price was shown. Listings say a cart is included.

Winter and spring 2027 prices were not loaded yet, because the public window is only 30 days. Locals can buy an annual golf pass with reduced rates; the price isn't published, so ask the pro shop.

How does it compare with other short and cheap rounds?

Coyote Willows is one of two 9-hole courses in the Mesquite area, and one of several ways to play golf in Mesquite NV for under about $100.

If you want 18 holes cheaply, the cheap golf in Mesquite guide covers summer rates and the resident deals. If you want a short, low-pressure nine, Coyote Willows is the simplest choice in town.

Who is Coyote Willows for?

  • Beginners and juniors. Short and inexpensive, with rental clubs on site.
  • Families. A cheap loop where a new golfer won't hold up a $360 round.
  • A warm-up. The research for this course calls it a good add-on nine or a warm-up the evening before a big Mesquite round.
  • Walkers. A walking rate was offered in 2017, and a reviewer walked two loops in under 3.5 hours. See can you walk golf courses in Mesquite for the rest.
  • September visitors. It may stay open through the overseed season.

It is not for golfers who came to Mesquite for canyon scenery. For that, start with the Wolf Creek golf course review.

How to book Coyote Willows

Public players book online on Chronogolf up to 30 days ahead. On October 23, 2026 the sheet was open through November 23, and dates in December 2026 and January 2027 showed "Reservations available soon." For dates further out, call 702-345-3222.

Two things to watch on the tee sheet:

  • The hours on the website look out of date. The club website says tee times run 6 AM to noon, but the online sheet showed times from about 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM in late October and to about 2:50 PM in November.
  • Leagues fill some days. On November 4 and November 12, 2026 the online sheet showed only two to six open slots, probably because of league play. Check the sheet before you plan around a time.

Dress code is proper golf attire. There is a small pro shop, a warm-up area, a putting green and rental clubs.

Is Coyote Willows open during the September overseed?

Most Mesquite 18-hole courses close in turn for two to five weeks in September to overseed with rye. Coyote Willows publishes no overseed closure, and one listing says it stays open through September. That rests on a single source, so call before you count on it. The Mesquite September overseed guide lists which courses close when.

Coyote Willows or Beaver Dam Lodge?

The area's other nine, Beaver Dam Lodge, is a different animal: nine par 3s of about 1,000 yards under old cottonwoods at a historic lodge in Beaver Dam, Arizona, 14 minutes (10.8 miles) from downtown. It has no online booking, publishes no green fees, and its 2026 operation isn't confirmed; the last dated golf review found was from March 2025. Its posted tee-time hours are on Arizona time and date from the 2021-22 season. For a regulation-length nine you can book online today, Coyote Willows is the simpler choice; Beaver Dam Lodge is a short-game outing for which you should call 928-347-2222 first.

When to play Coyote Willows

The climate figures below are NOAA 1991-2020 normals from Beaver Dam, Arizona, about 8 miles from town, used as the Mesquite proxy.

Season Normal high / low What it means at Coyote Willows
December-Januaryabout 60-62 F / 32-33 FFrosty mornings, so late-morning times are the pleasant ones
February-Aprilabout 66-82 F / 36-48 FThe best weather; the busiest weeks across Mesquite
June-Augustabout 104-109 F / 65-74 FGo at the first online time and carry plenty of water
Septemberabout 100 F / 64 FMay be one of the few places open during overseed
October-Novemberabout 86-72 F / 53-40 FMild and dry; the sheet ran to mid-afternoon in 2026

Because Coyote Willows is only nine holes, it fits around the weather more easily than a five-hour round. A late-afternoon nine in November or an early nine in June both work, as long as the online sheet has times; in fall 2026 it stopped at about 3:30 PM in late October and about 2:50 PM in November. Its tee times are on Mesquite (Pacific) time, which matters if you are driving down from St. George, one hour ahead.

What a round at Coyote Willows looks like

Expect a short round. One Greenskeeper reviewer walked two loops (18 holes) in just under 3.5 hours early in the morning, which is quicker than a single round at Wolf Creek, where the club warns of more than five hours. Leagues use the course, so some midweek afternoons fill up; check the online sheet the day before. There is a warm-up area and putting green but no full driving range listed, so hit balls elsewhere if you want a proper session. Bring your own clubs or rent on site, and wear proper golf attire.

Pairing it with a bigger round

Coyote Willows and CasaBlanca Golf Club are both on W Hafen Lane on the river side of town, so a morning at CasaBlanca and a late nine here works without crossing Mesquite. The CasaBlanca course guide has that course's rates. For full 36-hole days, read 36 holes a day in Mesquite.

The Coyote Willows course page has the details in one place.
