Can you walk golf courses in Mesquite? Mostly not in practice. Only the two nines publish anything friendly to walkers: Coyote Willows has offered a walking rate and Beaver Dam Lodge allows walking with pull carts. Listings say Falcon Ridge and Wolf Creek allow walking, but neither club publishes a policy, and the canyon terrain makes carts the norm.
Policies come from our course records (official sites, booking pages and listings, checked October 2026). Elevation figures come from the hole-by-hole data on our map: the total climb is the sum of tee-to-green rises on each hole, so it leaves out the walk from each green to the next tee, which in canyon golf can be the steepest part.
Quick facts
- Walking-friendly: Coyote Willows (9 holes, about 24 feet of climbing on the holes we mapped) and Beaver Dam Lodge (nine par 3s, pull carts listed).
- Flattest 18: CasaBlanca Golf Club, about 90 feet of tee-to-green climbing.
- Most climbing: Falcon Ridge, about 343 feet, with a 167-foot drop on one hole.
- Published walking policy at an 18-hole course: none.
- Cart included: at most courses, so walking may not save money.

Why Mesquite is a cart town
Most Mesquite courses are desert canyon golf. Tees sit on ridges and plateaus, fairways drop into washes, and the desert between holes is not something you want to cross on foot with a bag. The numbers show it: five of the seven in-town 18s add up to more than 200 feet of tee-to-green climbing, and five have a single hole that drops more than 100 feet.
Wolf Creek is the extreme case. GolfPass describes the #2 tee as about 11 stories above the fairway, #12 plays from an elevated tee with a drop of nearly 100 feet, and the paths have many speed bumps. GolfNow's listing says walking is allowed, but the club publishes no walking policy and the terrain makes it cart-only in practice. With the club warning that rounds will most likely exceed five hours even in a cart, walking it is not realistic. See the Wolf Creek course guide.
The other reason is money. Wolf Creek, Conestoga, CasaBlanca, Palms and Coyote Springs all include the cart in the green fee, and no 18-hole course publishes a walking discount, so you would pay the same to carry your bag.
Where walking is realistic
Coyote Willows
Coyote Willows is a regulation-length nine (par 35, 2,836 yards from the Blue tees) on the Virgin River bottomlands. A 2017 report says it offered walking and youth rates, and one Greenskeeper reviewer walked 18 holes (two loops) in just under 3.5 hours early in the morning. The holes we mapped add up to only about 24 feet of climbing. It was $50 for nine online in fall 2026, the listings say the cart is included, and whether a walking rate still exists is not published, so ask at 702-345-3222. More in the Coyote Willows guide.
Beaver Dam Lodge
Beaver Dam Lodge, across the line in Arizona, is nine par 3s of about 1,000 yards under old cottonwoods, with walking allowed and pull carts listed. It is the easiest walk in the area, but its 2026 operation is not confirmed and there is no online booking, so call 928-347-2222 first. It keeps Arizona time.
CasaBlanca, if the shop agrees
The CasaBlanca course is the only 18 in town that is close to flat: about 90 feet of tee-to-green climbing over the round, with no hole rising more than about 32 feet or falling more than 28. It sits low along the Virgin River at about 1,560 feet. No walking policy is published, so call the pro shop at 702-346-6764 before you plan a walking round. Expect wind in the afternoon.
If you still want to walk an 18
Some golfers walk everywhere on principle. If that is you, ask about these first, in this order:
- CasaBlanca. The flattest 18 by a wide margin, with about half the tee-to-green climbing of the next-flattest 18 in town, Oasis Canyons (90 feet against 170). The catch is that no policy is published, and in winter the online inventory is a 10:00 AM block and a 3:06 PM shotgun-start block, so you will be walking alongside cart groups on a fixed schedule.
- Falcon Ridge. Listings say walking is allowed, it is the shortest 18 from the back (6,303 yards on the USGA rating), and one Greenskeeper reviewer reported a 3 hour 40 minute midweek round. But it has the most climbing on our map, so only fit walkers should try it, and only in cool weather.
- Palms. The palm-lined front nine is close to flat (about 33 feet of climbing over nine holes on our map); the canyon back nine holds the climbs and the big drop on the signature 15th (102 feet on our map; the operator's hole notes say about 115). There is no published policy.
Whatever the course, keep up. Oasis's recommended pace is 4 hours 30 minutes and Coyote Springs averages about the same, so a walker in a field of carts needs to play ready golf. Wolf Creek, at 5-plus hours in a cart, is the one to leave to the cart.
Which Mesquite courses are hardest to walk?
Ranked by total tee-to-green climbing on our map:
- Falcon Ridge, 343 feet, with a 167-foot drop on its biggest downhill hole and a 96-foot climb on its steepest uphill one. Listings say walking is allowed; on this terrain, few will want to. See the Falcon Ridge course guide.
- Oasis Palmer, 311 feet, with drops of up to 150 feet.
- Conestoga, 224 feet, with a 108-foot drop on one par 3 and a cliff on the "Fence Hole," #4.
- Wolf Creek, 211 feet up, but 631 feet down: it is mostly downhill tee to green, so most of the climbing happens between holes, on the cart paths.
- Palms, 209 feet, nearly all of it on the canyon back nine; the front nine is flat resort golf.
- Oasis Canyons, 170 feet.
- CasaBlanca, 90 feet.

Cart rules that make you walk anyway
Even in a cart you will walk some. Both Oasis courses use the 90-degree rule on par 4s and 5s and keep carts on the path on par 3s, two players per cart. Conestoga sends two carts per foursome.
After the fall overseed, courses are often cart-path-only for three to seven days after they reopen. In 2025 CasaBlanca ran cart-path-only from September 27 to October 9, Oasis Canyons listed September 30 to October 3 in 2026, and Wolf Creek warned that some holes may be cart-path-only in October 2026. The reopening dates are in the September overseed guide.
Walking in the heat
Summer changes the question entirely. Normal highs near Mesquite are about 104F in June, 109F in July and 107F in August, and nights stay warm. Use a cart, start at first light and carry far more water than you think. Oasis showed online times only to about 12:30 PM in summer. Coyote Springs carts come with side coolers stocked with ice and water. See Mesquite summer golf for the rest.

Questions golfers ask
Can you walk golf courses in Mesquite, NV?
At the two nines, yes: Coyote Willows has offered a walking rate and Beaver Dam Lodge allows walking and lists pull carts. At the 18-hole courses, no club publishes a walking policy. Listings say walking is allowed at Falcon Ridge and Wolf Creek, but the canyon terrain makes carts the norm, and the cart is included in most green fees.
Is Wolf Creek walkable?
Not in practice. GolfNow's listing says walking is allowed, but the club publishes no walking policy, reviews say gas carts are required, and the terrain makes it cart-only in practice. Its #2 tee sits about 11 stories above the fairway, and the club says rounds will most likely exceed five hours even in a cart.
What is the flattest golf course in Mesquite?
CasaBlanca. On our map's elevation data its holes add up to about 90 feet of tee-to-green climbing, and no hole rises or falls more than about 32 feet. Coyote Willows, the 9-hole course near it, is flatter still at about 24 feet across the holes we mapped.
Is the cart included in Mesquite green fees?
At most courses, yes. Wolf Creek, Conestoga, CasaBlanca, Palms, Coyote Springs and Coyote Willows include the cart. Oasis's booking engine doesn't say, though earlier listings say it is included, and Falcon Ridge's engine doesn't say either.
What are the cart rules at Oasis Golf Club?
Both Oasis courses use the 90-degree rule on par 4s and par 5s and keep carts on the path on par 3s, with two players per cart. That means short walks from the path on every par 3.
Can you use a push cart in Mesquite?
Beaver Dam Lodge in Arizona lists pull carts. None of the other courses publishes a push-cart policy, so call the shop before you pack one.
Are Mesquite courses cart-path-only after overseed?
Often, for a few days. Courses are often cart-path-only for three to seven days after they reopen in late September or early October. In 2025 CasaBlanca was cart-path-only from September 27 to October 9, and Oasis Canyons listed September 30 to October 3 in 2026.
