Courses drawn to one scale: Par 3 Golf in St. George, Utah: Pitch-and-Putts, Short Nines and the Par 3 Holes Worth the Trip

For par 3 golf in St. George, Utah, the dedicated option is the Wee Course at Sand Hollow Resort in Hurricane, about 32 minutes east of downtown: nine holes of 40 to 100 yards, which the resort bills as Southern Utah's only par-3 course. Beaver Dam Lodge, just over the Arizona line on the way to Mesquite, has an all-par-3 nine of about 1,000 yards. If you want short rather than strictly par 3, the city's Dixie Red Hills nine is seven minutes from downtown St. George.

Below is every short-format option in the area, where each one sits, and the par 3 holes on the big courses that are worth planning a round around.

Where short golf sits around St. George

Short golf in the St. George area is spread out, so it pays to match it to where you're already playing.

  • Hurricane, east toward Zion: the Wee and the Links share Sand Hollow Resort with the Championship course, 32 minutes from downtown. If you're playing the big course, both are a cart ride away. Sand Hollow Resort's villas are about 3 minutes from the first tee.
  • Just north of downtown St. George: Dixie Red Hills, 7 minutes from Main Street and St. George Boulevard. The Advenire is about 6 minutes away.
  • The west side, by Ivins and Snow Canyon: no short course, but the putting courses at Black Desert and Entrada, 12 to 13 minutes from downtown.
  • Down I-15 toward Mesquite: Beaver Dam Lodge in Arizona at 39 minutes, through the Virgin River Gorge, and Coyote Willows in Mesquite at 53 minutes. Mesquite is on Pacific time, an hour behind Utah.
  • East of Zion: Thunderbird at Mount Carmel Junction, almost two hours away through the park.

The Hurricane and Sand Hollow golf guide covers the Sand Hollow side in more depth, and the Mesquite golf day trip from St. George shows how to fit Beaver Dam into a run down I-15.

True par 3 golf courses near St. George

Sand Hollow Wee Course

The Wee is a chip, pitch and putt course on the Sand Hollow Resort property in Hurricane, alongside the Championship course and the Links. Holes run 40 to 100 yards, it isn't USGA rated, and it's a walking course. The resort says it's Southern Utah's only par-3 course.

What you need to know:

  • It isn't on the online tee sheet. Call the pro shop at (435) 656-4653.
  • No price, par or hours were published when we checked.
  • The resort range and short-game area are next door.
  • The usual resort dress code applies: collared shirts, no denim, soft spikes.

Use it as a wedge warm-up before the Championship course, a family hour with kids, or something to do before dinner if you're staying at Sand Hollow Resort.

Beaver Dam Lodge

Beaver Dam Lodge is a nine-hole, all-par-3 course along the Beaver Dam Wash in Arizona, under century-old cottonwoods. The Blue tees play 1,049 yards and the Whites 957. It was once a bigger layout; a March 2025 reviewer said a flood took out the other nine holes.

  • About 39 minutes from downtown St. George, and about 13 minutes from the Mesquite casino hotels.
  • Walk-up; there's no working course website or online booking. Call 928-347-2222.
  • Carts and pull carts are available, and walking is allowed.
  • The only dated price we found is $15 a person from a January 2016 review. Treat that as history, not a quote.
  • The last dated evidence of play is March 2025, so call before you drive out.

The lodge was built in 1931 and has a bar. It pairs naturally with a Mesquite tee time further down I-15.

Off the main map: Thunderbird

Thunderbird at Mount Carmel Junction is a 9-hole executive course with four par 3s and five par 4s, about 1,900 yards. It's almost two hours from St. George through Zion National Park, and we couldn't confirm it is operating in 2025 or 2026. Only worth it on a Zion east-side or Bryce trip, and call first.

Short nines that play quick

Dixie Red Hills

The city's first course, opened in 1965, is a nine-hole, par-34 layout under red sandstone cliffs about 7 minutes from downtown. It's the easiest short-course round to fit into a St. George golf trip. See the Dixie Red Hills course guide for the hole table.

  • 2,738 yards from the Blues. The USGA rates it as an 18 (two loops) at 66.4 / 114.
  • 6 is a 105-yard par 3 over water to a postage-stamp green, a local favourite.

  • $27 walking and $37 with cart from October to May, $19 and $29 from June to September. Washington County loyalty card holders pay less.
  • There is a range on site (balls $5 small bucket, $9 large).
  • Closed September 9 to 23 in 2026 for aeration and overseed, the earliest of the city courses.

It's walkable, cheap, and a natural late-afternoon nine after a full round elsewhere. See our cheap golf in St. George guide for more budget rounds.

Coyote Willows

Down in Mesquite, Coyote Willows is a regulation-length par-35 nine along the Virgin River bottomlands, $50 for nine all day on the October 2026 tee sheet. #9 is a tough finishing par 3 with water and reeds guarding a green that is barely visible from the blue tees. It's an add-on nine rather than a destination.

The Links isn't short (3,687 yards for nine from the Reds), but it's a wide, walkable nine next to the Championship course, and a good way to make 27 holes in a day. Online times are listed without a cart. Prices ran $50 for a January 2027 weekday up to $105 on spring Saturdays when we checked.

Putting courses for the evening

Two resorts on the west side have short-game courses that are worth an hour on their own.

  • Black Desert in Ivins has a 36-hole putting course and an illuminated 2-acre putting green you can use at night, plus a Trackman range. Your green fee there includes the practice facility.
  • Entrada at Snow Canyon has a Himalayas-style putting course, and its 16-bay Toptracer range has targets that double as a 9-hole course. Entrada is private; visitors get in by staying at The Inn at Entrada.

Tee-to-green figures come from USGS terrain data on our map and are net changes, so a hole can fall away off the tee and still show only a few feet. Our St. George golf elevation and distance guide explains how to club the big drops.

A few more worth knowing: Wolf Creek's #15 is a 125-yard par 3 and the course's best birdie chance, Entrada converted its #15 from a short par 4 into a par 3 in its 2020-22 rebuild, and Copper Rock's #4 plays 246 yards from the tips.

Four of the par 3s above are in Hurricane: Sand Hollow's 11 and 15, Copper Rock's 17 and Sky Mountain's 16. From the Comfort Inn & Suites Zion Park Area in Hurricane, Sky Mountain is about 5 minutes away, Copper Rock about 14 and Sand Hollow about 15. If par 3s are the point of the trip, base there.

Which kind of par 3 golf in St. George fits your trip

  • Kids or beginners: the Sand Hollow Wee, or Beaver Dam Lodge if you're heading to Mesquite anyway.
  • A second round on a 36-hole day: Dixie Red Hills after a morning round in town, or the Sand Hollow Links after the Championship. See 36 holes a day in St. George.
  • Short-game practice that feels like a game: the putting courses at Black Desert or Entrada.
  • One great par 3: book Sand Hollow and take your photo on the 11th tee.
