Slope ladder: Las Vegas winter golf for snowbirds: weather, bases, rates and a season of rounds

Las Vegas winter golf runs from about November to March, with December to February highs of 57 to 63F, almost no rain and green fees below the fall and spring peaks. The trade-offs are frosty mornings, short days and a few event weeks when Strip hotel prices spike. For snowbirds on a monthly rental or an RV site, it is a steady season of golf.

This guide explains how a snowbird winter of Las Vegas winter golf works: the weather by month, where to base, how resident rates and booking work, which courses suit a weekly rotation and the day trips worth taking. Prices are as seen in 2026 and change.

Quick facts

  • Season: about November to March.
  • Coldest stretch: December and January, highs 57-59F, lows about 40F, 3-5 freezing nights a month at the airport.
  • Cheapest cool-season golf: December to February; prices climb through February.
  • Frost: delays often push back early tee times; book mid-morning.
  • Expensive weeks: NFR (December 3-12, 2026), New Year's Eve, CES (January 6-9, 2027).
  • Time zone: Pacific; Alberta and Utah are one hour ahead all year.

NOAA 1991-2020 normals at Harry Reid International Airport, about 3 miles south-east of the Strip. Sunsets are computed for 2027; daylight saving starts March 14, 2027. The higher courses in Summerlin, Red Rock, Anthem and Boulder City can run a few degrees cooler.

Two practical points. First, the short days: sunset comes before 5pm in December and January, so late starts run out of light. Second, frost: on cold mornings frost delays often push back the first tee times. A mid-morning booking is the safer choice on both counts.

How winter green fees work

Most courses are bermudagrass overseeded with rye each fall, so they play green from about October to May. Green fees step down from the fall peak for December to February, then climb again through February toward the March to May peak. Few courses publish a 2026-27 winter rate card, so the figures in our files are mostly snapshots:

Course Fee seen Source and date
Serket$79-$169 (summer and mid-Nov to Jan)third-party listing, undated
Revere Lexington$83.99-$148.99 with cartGolfNow, October 2026

Coyote Springs$125 (one golfer, January 18, 2026)Top100GolfCourses review

Reflection Bay is the exception on turf: only its tee boxes are overseeded, so its paspalum fairways play firm and tan in cold snaps. For the full rate picture see Las Vegas golf rates and Las Vegas golf in winter.

Where snowbirds base for Las Vegas winter golf

The season research lists three kinds of base: RV parks on Boulder Hwy, in Henderson and near the Strip; furnished monthly condos and homes in Henderson, Summerlin and Lake Las Vegas; and the large 55+ communities, whose rentals follow association rules.

In unincorporated Clark County, rentals under 31 days need a short-term rental licence, so most snowbird leases run 31 nights or more. Details are in Las Vegas snowbird rentals and Las Vegas RV parks.

Resident rates and booking for a whole winter

Several courses sell cheaper resident rates. Reflection Bay gives Clark County resident rates to holders of a Nevada licence or Nevada Seasonal Resident ID, books residents 7 days out and charges your card if you cancel inside 48 hours. The Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort uses the same ID rule and 7-day resident window; booking outside it pays rack rate. Angel Park, Painted Desert and Las Vegas Golf Club run separate resident booking sites. Amounts are rarely published. See Las Vegas golf resident rates.

Two winter quirks to note: Desert Willow closes at 4pm from November 1, 2026 to January 10, 2027, and the lit North Las Vegas par-3 closes when it is 43F or below.

A sample winter week

A snowbird rotation usually mixes two or three value rounds with one better course:

  1. Monday: a value round near home (the Legacy, Wildhorse or Palm Valley).
  2. Tuesday: the second course at a 36-hole facility: Revere Concord or Angel Park.
  3. Thursday: a better course midweek, such as Serket or TPC Las Vegas, after the frost.
  4. Saturday: off, or an executive 18 such as Desert Willow.

Our snowbird golf schedule for Las Vegas builds this out by base. See the Palm Valley course guide and the TPC Las Vegas course guide.

Day trips for a change of scene

  • Coyote Springs: a quiet Nicklaus course 67 minutes (59 miles) north. Nevada residents and Washington County, Utah licence holders get resident specials.
  • Mesquite: about 92 minutes and 86 miles up I-15; a golf town of its own on the Mesquite golf map. See Mesquite winter golf.
  • Mountain Falls, Pahrump: 67 minutes west; GolfLink showed tee times at $33 to $120 for September 13, 2026.
  • Boulder City Golf Course: 41 minutes from the Strip; pairs with a Hoover Dam day.

Days off the course

A winter is long, and the valley has plenty for non-golf days. Red Rock Canyon's 13-mile one-way scenic drive is about 25 minutes from Summerlin; timed-entry reservations have been required in the busy season in recent years (not checked for 2026-27). The River Mountains Loop Trail is a 34-mile paved loop linking Henderson, Lake Las Vegas, Lake Mead and Boulder City, easy to ride in sections. Hoover Dam is a short drive past Boulder City, and the Vegas Golden Knights play NHL hockey at T-Mobile Arena from October to April. On a rare wet day, Topgolf behind MGM Grand has 120 all-weather bays.

What a winter costs beyond golf

Hotel prices spike for NFR, New Year's Eve and CES, which matters if you add hotel nights or have friends flying in. Canadian snowbirds also need to watch the US 182-day guideline, the IRS substantial presence test and provincial health limits; see Canadian snowbirds in Las Vegas. Comparing desert winters? Questions golfers ask

Is Las Vegas good for winter golf?

Yes, with caveats. NOAA normals give December to February highs of about 57 to 63F, very little rain and green fees that step down from the fall peak. The catch is cold mornings: December averages 4.6 freezing nights at the airport and January 3.3, so frost delays often push back early tee times.

How cold is Las Vegas in January for golf?

The NOAA 1991-2020 normal high at Harry Reid airport is 58.5F in January with a low of 40.5F, and about 3.1 days with measurable rain. Summerlin, Red Rock, Anthem and Boulder City courses sit higher and can be a few degrees cooler. Plan on later tee times and layers.

When does the snowbird season run in Las Vegas?

About November to March. Green fees are at their lowest of the cool months from December to February and climb again through February into the spring peak of March to May. November is still fall peak, with fresh rye on most courses.

Can snowbirds get Las Vegas resident golf rates?

At some courses. Reflection Bay and the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort accept a Nevada licence or a Nevada Seasonal Resident ID for Clark County resident rates, with a 7-day booking window. Reflection Bay does not accept utility bills or photocopies. Our files do not cover how to obtain the seasonal ID.

Which weeks are expensive in a Las Vegas winter?

The National Finals Rodeo (December 3-12, 2026), New Year's Eve and CES (January 6-9, 2027) are the big hotel-price spikes. Super Bowl weekend (February 14, 2027) is held in Inglewood, California, but still lifts Vegas weekend room rates. They matter most if you add hotel nights or have friends flying in.

Is Las Vegas warmer than Phoenix or Palm Springs in winter?

No. The season research says winter in Las Vegas is cooler than Phoenix or Palm Springs, with January highs about 59F and frosty dawns. The trade-off is lower cool-season green fees and Strip shows and sports on the doorstep.

What golf day trips can snowbirds take from Las Vegas?

Coyote Springs, a Nicklaus course 67 minutes north, where one golfer reported paying $125 on January 18, 2026. Mesquite, about 92 minutes and 86 miles up I-15, is its own golf town. Mountain Falls in Pahrump is 67 minutes west, with tee times from $33 to $120 on a September 2026 snapshot.
