Las Vegas golf in winter means cool, mostly dry days of 57F to 63F, cold mornings with frost delays, short daylight and green fees that sit below the spring and fall peaks. December to February is the snowbird season for golf. The main costs to plan around are hotel spikes for NFR, New Year's Eve and CES.
Below are the winter normals, how frost and sunset shape the golf day, the winter fees our research found and the weeks to avoid. Prices were seen in October and November 2026 and change.
Quick facts
- Weather: December 56.9F / 39.6F, January 58.5F / 40.5F, February 62.9F / 44.1F.
- Freezing nights: about 4.6 in December and 3.3 in January at the airport, more on the higher courses.
- Frost delays: common on early tee times in December and January.
- Daylight: sunset about 4:27pm mid-December, 5:22pm mid-February.
- Rates: winter value, stepping down from the fall peak and rising again through February.
- Hotel spikes: NFR December 3-12, 2026; New Year's Eve; CES January 6-9, 2027.
Las Vegas golf in winter: the weather
| Month | High / low (F) | Rain days | Nights below 32F | Sunset (15th) | Daylight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| December | 56.9 / 39.6 | 3.0 | 4.6 | 4:27pm | 9h43 |
| January | 58.5 / 40.5 | 3.1 | 3.3 | 4:50pm | 9h59 |
| February | 62.9 / 44.1 | 4.1 | 1.1 | 5:22pm | 10h54 |
NOAA 1991-2020 normals at Harry Reid airport, on the valley floor at about 2,180 feet; sunsets computed for 2027. February is the wettest month by days, but even then four rain days is the average. Our file notes that winter here is cooler than in Phoenix or Palm Springs. See Las Vegas weather by month.
Frost delays and how to book around them
With lows around 40F and several freezing nights, the first tee times in December and January often wait for the frost to lift. The higher courses in Summerlin, Anthem and Boulder City can run colder at dawn than the airport; our research did not quantify how much.
How to plan a winter golf day:
- Book from mid-morning. A start between about 9:30am and 1pm misses most frost and finishes before dark.
- Do not stack an early round before a flight. A frost delay can push you back.
- Pick valley-floor courses for early times. Bali Hai and Las Vegas National are 7 and 10 minutes from the Strip on the valley floor.
- Keep 36-hole days for late February, when daylight is closer to 11 hours.
- Bring a layer you can shed. A 40F start and a 60F finish is a normal winter round, and the higher courses feel colder for the first few holes.
- Check closing hours. Desert Willow closes at 4pm from November 1 to January 10, 2027. The lighted North Las Vegas par-3 course lists closures at 43F or below.
Turf: what winter courses look like
Nearly every Las Vegas course is bermuda that goes dormant and tan in winter, overseeded with rye each fall so it plays green from about October to May. A winter round on an overseeded course is green and full. One exception: Reflection Bay at Lake Las Vegas overseeds only its tee boxes, so its paspalum fairways go off-colour in cold snaps and play firm and tan. See the Reflection Bay course guide.
Winter green fees
Our files have few dated winter rates. Most courses use dynamic pricing or did not publish a 2026-27 card, so here is what the research does show:
| Course | Winter price seen | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Serket (ex-Rio Secco) | $79-$169 incl. shared cart | undated third-party listing; same band as June-August, mid-November to January |
| Coyote Springs | $125 | one golfer's report for January 18, 2026 |
| Desert Willow (executive, par 60) | $49 | Green Fee Tracker, April 2026 |
| Cascata | dynamic, not published | third-party estimate about $295 off-season, unverified |
| The Legacy, Wildhorse | not published for winter | October 2026: $46.99-$57.99 and up to about $109.99 |
Our season research says green fees step down from the fall peak in December and climb again through February, toward the spring peak in March. The best way to find winter value is to check GolfNow and each course's tee sheet for your dates, and look at the Serket and Cascata Double Down package (from $525 in summer, $750 in fall; winter price not published). See the Serket course guide and Las Vegas golf rates.

Where to base for a winter golf trip
Winter is when the off-Strip bases make the most sense: you are driving to courses anyway, and the Strip spikes for NFR and CES do not hit them as hard (our files do not quantify the difference). Resort fees below are per night including tax, from a November 2026 tracker:
| Base | Example | Resort fee | Golf nearby |
|---|---|---|---|
| Henderson, no resort fee | Homewood Suites Henderson South | none listed | Serket, the Revere and Anthem; suites have kitchens |
| Henderson casino resort | Green Valley Ranch | $51.30 | Serket, the Revere, Lake Las Vegas |
| Lake Las Vegas | Hilton Lake Las Vegas | $32.77 | Reflection Bay Stay-N-Play partner |
| South Strip casino | South Point | $33 | quick to Bali Hai and Henderson |
| RV, south of the Strip | Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort | n/a | nightly $84.95-$106.95; putting course on site |
| RV, Boulder Highway | Las Vegas KOA Journey at Sam's Town | n/a | monthly from about $699 |
Room rates were not captured for winter 2026-27, so compare on your dates. Oasis publishes nightly rates with no effective date; its monthly rate is by phone only. For longer stays, see Las Vegas RV parks.
Who winter golf suits
- Snowbirds. Winter is the snowbird season for golf, with the lowest green fees of the cool months. Bases range from RV parks on Boulder Highway to furnished 55+ rentals in Sun City Summerlin and Sun City Anthem. See Las Vegas winter golf for snowbirds and Las Vegas snowbird rentals.
- Value buddies trips. Early December before NFR or mid-January after CES, Sunday to Thursday.
- Golfers who hate heat. Afternoons of 57-63F are comfortable walking-or-riding weather in a good layer.
For a snowbird, a weekly rotation might pair the two Revere courses in Anthem, Angel Park in Summerlin and a quiet community course such as Palm Valley, which is open to visitors. See the Revere Lexington course guide.
Mesquite, about 80 miles up I-15, is a common add-on for a winter trip; see Mesquite winter golf. For a warmer desert winter, compare Palm Springs golf in winter.

Questions golfers ask
Can you golf in Las Vegas in winter?
Yes, every course open to visitors runs through the winter. December to February averages 57-63F highs and 40-44F lows at the airport, with three to five freezing nights a month in December and January. The main nuisance is frost delays on early tee times.
How cold is Las Vegas in January for golf?
January averages 58.5F by day and 40.5F at night, with about 3.3 nights below freezing and 3.1 rain days. Courses in Summerlin, Anthem and Boulder City sit higher and can be colder at dawn. Plan a mid-morning start and dress in layers.
Is golf cheaper in Las Vegas in winter?
Generally yes: green fees step down from the fall peak and climb again through February. Few courses publish winter rate cards; an undated third-party listing puts Serket (ex-Rio Secco) at $79-$169 from mid-November to January against $119-$259 in its peak bands. Check each course for your dates.
What are frost delays?
Courses hold the first tee times when the grass is frozen, because walking or driving on frosted turf damages it. In Las Vegas they are common on December and January mornings. Your tee time can slide later, so do not book an early round right before a flight.
Which winter weeks are expensive in Las Vegas?
NFR (December 3-12, 2026), New Year's Eve and CES (January 6-9, 2027) push up hotel prices, and Super Bowl weekend (February 14, 2027) lifts weekend rates. The week after CES is usually far cheaper.
Do Las Vegas courses close early in winter?
Days are short, with sunset about 4:27pm in mid-December, so last tee times move earlier. Desert Willow in Henderson closes at 4pm from November 1 to January 10, 2027. Check each course's hours for your date.
Do the courses stay green in winter?
Mostly. Nearly every course overseeds its bermuda with rye in the fall so it plays green from about October to May. Reflection Bay overseeds only its tees, and its paspalum fairways go off-colour in cold snaps.
