GlenLakes Golf Club Foley: The Devlin-von Hagge 27 Near Gulf Shores, With Fees, Tees and Booking Rules

GlenLakes Golf Club, Foley, AL, is a public 27-hole club about 22 minutes inland from Gulf Shores. Its Dunes-Vista 18 is a 1984 Bruce Devlin and Robert von Hagge links-style design, 6,912 yards at a 125 slope, and in October 2026 it cost $86 plus tax with cart in the morning and as little as $37 online after 3 PM.

That price gap is the whole story for most visitors. GlenLakes is the cheapest championship-length 18 in the Gulf Shores area, it sells real snowbird packages, and the extra nine gives you a cheap warm-up loop. This guide covers the courses, tees, fees, booking rules and where to stay.

What kind of course is GlenLakes Golf Club Foley?

The 18 is a Scottish links-style layout: strategic mounding, heavy bunkering, and fairways and greens that roll. It is not a seaside course. It sits inland in Foley, about 20 minutes from the beach, so it gets less wind than the beach courses. The front nine is Dunes and the back is Vista, and they are not equal. From the Black tees the Dunes nine plays to a 131 slope and the Vista nine to 119, so most of the round's difficulty comes early.

On our map's hole data from the Black tees, the No. 1 handicap is the 442-yard par-4 5th, and the No. 2 is the 466-yard par-4 16th. The longest par 3 is the 213-yard 3rd, and the round opens with a 551-yard par 5. The front nine measures about 3,558 yards and the back about 3,357.

GolfPass users ranked it the 16th best course in Alabama in its 2020 Golfers' Choice list (20th in 2019). The club also took the Snowbird Fest 2020 Snowbird Choice Award for favorite golf course.

The Lakes nine

The third nine is a separate, resort-style Lakes course: par 35, 3,065 yards, with water on six holes. The USGA also rates it played twice as a par-70 18 (6,038 yards from the Black tees, 68.4/117). Public tee times were selling for $25 to $43 online in October 2026.

One caution. From August 15, 2026 the club stopped taking new Lakes-only members. The nine still sells public tee times, but watch for changes before you plan around it.

GlenLakes tees and ratings

These are the USGA ratings for the Dunes-Vista 18, checked October 22, 2026. Older listings carried slopes 4 to 8 points higher, so ignore those.

Six sets of tees from 4,255 to 6,912 yards make this one of the easier courses in the area to match to a mixed group. The Blue tees (6,360 yards, 119 slope) are a moderate test, and the Gold, Red and Purple tees (101 to 111 men's slope) are short and gentle. How much does GlenLakes cost?

GlenLakes posts a rate card and also prices dynamically online. All figures were seen October 22, 2026 and will change.

Peak spring (February to April) online pricing was not yet visible in October 2026, so we can't tell you what a March morning costs.

How does GlenLakes compare with other Gulf Shores golf courses?

This is why GlenLakes Golf Club Foley shows up on so many budget trip plans. Prices were seen October 2026; drive times are free-flow road estimates from Hwy 59 and Beach Blvd.

GlenLakes is not the shortest drive, but it is the cheapest full-length round of the group in the late afternoon, and it is closer than Soldiers Creek or Perdido Bay. GlenLakes snowbird rates and memberships

GlenLakes leans into the winter crowd. Its snowbird pricing runs May 1, 2026 to April 30, 2027.

• Snowbird 6-pack: $350 plus tax for six 18-hole rounds, about $58 a round. A 9-hole version is $210 plus tax.
• Snowbird memberships with cart: 30 days for $599 single or $761 family, up to 210 days for $3,585 single or $4,228 family, plus 10% tax.

If you are in Gulf Shores AL for a month or more, a GlenLakes Golf Club Foley snowbird membership beats paying per round quickly. At the $86 morning rate, a 30-day single membership costs about the same as seven rounds. How do you book GlenLakes Golf Club Foley tee times?

• Online, 21 days ahead. TeeItUp releases times at midnight, 21 days out. November 20 times opened on October 30.
• Prepaid and non-refundable. Online bookings can't be cancelled. If plans might change, call 251-955-1220 instead.
• Bring your printed confirmation to check in.
• Third-party sites. GolfNow resold hot-deal times in October 2026, so compare before you pay.

Cart, practice and the clubhouse

The cart is included in the posted rates, and GolfPass lists GPS carts. A walking policy for visitors is not published, so ask the shop if you want to walk.

The practice area is a large natural-grass range tee with separate chipping and putting greens. Inside, the Pub at GlenLakes is the bar and grill, with a golf shop and locker rooms. Rental sets are $45 plus tax, and the club runs lessons and junior clinics. There is a pool, but it is seasonal (May to October) and for members.

Dress code: soft spikes only. No other code is published.

When is the best time to play GlenLakes?

The club is open year-round. Its turf type and overseed practice are not published, so we can't say whether fairways stay green in winter; across the area, many bermuda courses go dormant and tan from about December to March. Our post on winter overseeding in Gulf Shores explains what to expect.

At the Pensacola reference station on the coast, March averages highs of about 69°F with the windiest conditions of the year, and October about 79°F with about seven rain days. Being inland, GlenLakes should feel less of that wind, though there is no separate weather record for Foley in our data.

Is GlenLakes Golf Club worth it?

For value, yes. You get a full-length design by a well-known architect pair, six sets of tees, real snowbird pricing and an extra nine, for about half what the beach courses charge. The trade-offs are the 22-minute drive inland, a middling 3.9 Google rating, and unknowns on turf and overseed. Play it in the afternoon, book online only if your plans are firm, and use the Lakes nine as a cheap add-on.
