Tee-time booking windows: Twilight Golf Gulf Shores Guide: When Rates Drop and How Late You Can Tee Off

For twilight golf, Gulf Shores courses cut rates from about 1 or 2 PM, saving about $30 to $40 a player at Kiva Dunes and $40 at Gulf Shores Golf Club in fall. The catch is daylight. Sunset falls near 4:52 PM in mid-December and 7:53 PM in June, so the right twilight start changes every month.

Below are each course's twilight golf Gulf Shores times and prices (seen October 2026), a sunset table for the year, and the latest start that still finishes 18. Sunrise and sunset times are calculated for central Gulf Shores. Rates change, so check the tee sheet.

Can you finish 18 on a twilight tee time?

Put the two tables together and a pattern shows up: the cheapest twilight rates arrive when there's the least light.

  • November to January: Kiva Dunes' 1 PM twilight leaves about four hours and 20 minutes to last light in mid-November, so a 1 PM start finishes if the course is moving. Gulf Shores Golf Club's 12:30 PM start on Dec 5 gave about 4 hours 45 minutes.
  • Late October: GlenLakes' $37 rate after 3 PM on Oct 27, 2026 left only about 3.5 hours before last light at 6:32 PM. That's a great price for 12 to 14 holes, or a full 18 only if you're fast. The GlenLakes course page shows how its online price steps down through the day.
  • The first week of November: clocks fall back on Nov 1, 2026, and sunset jumps from about 6:04 PM to 5:04 PM overnight. A 2 PM start that was comfortable on Oct 31 is tight on Nov 1, and twilight start times move earlier around then.
  • Spring and summer: Perdido Bay's $50 twilight starts at 3 PM through May 4, which leaves about 4 hours 20 minutes of light after the Mar 14 clock change but only about 3 hours 15 minutes in early March. From May 5 to Aug 24 it starts at 4 PM, with roughly 3 hours 50 minutes to 4 hours 20 minutes of light. TimberCreek's lowest rate also starts at 4 PM, which works for a full 18 only around May to August.

If you only want nine, late nines are cheap: $69 at Gulf Shores Golf Club in fall and $49 in December, $35.99 after 1 PM at Soldiers Creek, and $55 after 1 PM at Lost Key (rack). GlenLakes' separate Lakes nine sold for about $25 to $43 online.

Is twilight golf worth it? Gulf Shores value by season

For most visitors, twilight golf, Gulf Shores style, is the best value of the day, especially from October to February. The savings are largest at the most expensive course: Kiva Dunes' twilight saves about $30 to $40 a player, and at the area's top-ranked public course that's the difference between a $149 and a $111 round in November. See the Kiva Dunes course page for its tees and wind notes.

Three cautions:

  • Pace. A slow group ahead can cost you the last holes. Gulf Shores Golf Club uses rangers; reviewers at Soldiers Creek report slow groups and no marshal at times.
  • Prepaid times. GlenLakes' online tee times are prepaid and non-refundable. Kiva Dunes asks for 48 hours' notice to cancel.
  • Third-party deals. GolfNow hot deals at Gulf Shores Golf Club for Oct 23-28, 2026 were $74.99 to $79.99 for afternoon times, under the club's $99 twilight. Compare both. The Gulf Shores Golf Club course page has its booking rules, and our Gulf Shores Golf Club guide covers the course itself.

Twilight golf by season

Fall (October to November). The best twilight months. Normal highs drop from about 79°F to 70°F, rain falls on about 7 days a month, and wind averages about 6 mph. October has the most light after a 2 PM start. See golf in Gulf Shores in October.

Winter (December to February). The cheapest twilight rates and the earliest starts, with highs of 61 to 64°F. Normal lows are 42 to 45°F, so a 12:30 or 1 PM start skips the coldest part of the day.

Spring (March to May). Rates are at their highest of the year, and after Mar 14 the sun sets around 7 PM, so twilight rates that start at 1 or 2 PM leave plenty of light. March is the windiest month at the Gulf Shores airport, about 7.8 mph on average.

Summer (June to August). Summer twilight golf in Gulf Shores is about heat and storms. Highs run 87 to 89°F, and storms hit on 11 to 13 days a month, mostly in the afternoon. Gulf Shores Golf Club itself warns about afternoon heat and storm cells. A 4 PM start finishes cooler, but keep an eye on radar. More in summer golf in Gulf Shores.

Month-by-month temperature, rain and wind are in our Gulf Shores golf weather by month guide, and the best time to golf in Gulf Shores weighs price against weather.

After dark: the lighted range

When the sun's gone, the Orange Beach Golf Center range stays lit until 9 PM, at $5 for a 34-ball bucket. Its par-3 course closes at 5 PM, so after sunset it's range time.
